“Bring wood and ear plugs”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2012

We were looking for a weekend getaway with fireplace and hot tub, and ended up at this resort - a family resort. First impression was good, nice people, ok room though dated and showing wear. We enjoyed the pool and the hot tubs, these were the best part of our stay. When we wanted to use the fireplace in the room, we were told that we had to buy the wood. That was unusual, as everywhere else we've stayed the room with the fireplace came with the wood. Duh. Not a big extra charge, but surprising and not communicated at booking or at check in. We had the room on the main floor and when our upstairs neighbors moved around, we could hear every step. Annoying. In the morning it was impossible to sleep after our neighbors got up. If we had known all these, we would have gone somewhere else.

Room Tip: Main floor is noisy

Thank you for posting a review about the resort. Yes, we charge a nominal fee for firewood to recoup our costs. Some hotels do give free firewood and their room rates reflect the price of amenities that are included in the rate. The in room directory and the key holder you were given at check in state that there is a fee for firewood. Certainly, we could inform guests at check in that there is a fee for the wood.

Some guests hasve isues with noise from the rooms above them and others do not. We are trying to address this issue as we renovate rooms. Unfortunately, due to the type of construction in the buildings the noise will never be entirely gone.

I appreciate your comments and the time it took you to post them.

The accoomodations appear to be recently refurbished but there is some wear. Small amount of mold in the corner of the shower. Carpets looked dirty. Glass on gas fireplace is etched from smoke. That being said the room was clean, the bed was comfortable, the water pressue and temperature was terrific and the property was quiet. Did not use the pool, hot tub or restaurants on site.

The Keg was terrific. Quiet on a Sunday night and we had a new waiter Keith who was terrific. Small mixup with our food delivery was handled well, food was delicious.

Overall we would stay again and would recommend to others.

Room Tip: We had no problem with noise and were a bottom unit. However we think the room above was only occup...

On our way to the BC interior we stopped in Banff for one night at this property. Its actually a collection of buildings, some with hotel rooms and others with suites. Its Motel style so you drive up to your door. The buildings are fairly spread out and our group got separated because we had 2 types of rooms.

It is not located in town but a 4-5 minute drive into town. Too far to walk so its a bit inconvenient. The free shuttle is nice but doesn't make up for the hassle of waiting around. We had a rental car so it didn't matter too much but it would have been nice to go out and not have to worry about how much you drank at the bar.

The rooms need an update but they were comfortable and clean, the beds too soft. The suite had a well equipped kitchen and fridge. Front desk staff were pleasant and helpful.
We did not use the amenities but there were hot tubs and pools available..

Fast free internet via Wifi.

Not too much to complain about for a quick stop but if I was staying in Banff for longer than one day, I'd look for something in town.

We appreciate hearing your candid comments about the resort. The resort is 4km from down town so if you want to park your car and just walk a property in the town core would be your best bet if you don't want to spend time waiting for our shuttle.

We hope you will have the opportunity to visit Banff National Park in the future as just one night is not enough to enjoy what the park has to offer.

We've stayed here several times over the past 8 years. A couple of times for a company xmas party and a few times on our own dime. We've never yet had a bad experience and we always enjoy our stay there. We would definitely recommend them.

Stayed for their annual SasSQUASH tournament. Housekeeping was AMAZING; great cleanliness, great service. Room was 89/night with fireplace and two double beds. Guest service was beyond accommodating, and the facilities/transit to downtown was wonderful. Would stay again, planning to come back next year!

Great to hear you enjoyed your self at the Sasquash tournament. We are thinking about having two tournaments a year perhaps spring and fall. We are just not sure if we will have enough interest for two events.

Thank you for your kind words. I will pass them along to the staff. We look forward to welcoming you back to Banff.

Friendly reception staff working 24/7. The window latch of one room was not working and despite being late at 10:00 p.m. and -17C/1F, someone came right away in a golf cart and fixed the problem in no time.
Although the resort was practically empty, they put someone above us. Noise was a big problem. The people above came back every night after 11:00 pm and ran around and talking loudly till 1-2 am. It was a tough week for us trying to sleep. We did not complain to the front desk though because we were too lazy to pack to move to a different room.
The swimming pool, in-door hot tub, out-door hot tub, sauna room were all great. The squash courts were first class. The free guided walking tours were really fun. We got to see awesome scenery.
The kitcken was fully equipped. We were really impressed by how complete everything was there for us to us. We cooked every meal for the whole week.

Room Tip: Get an upstairs room to avoid noise problem from other guests. Bring your own squash rackets and ba...

I am so happy to hear that our staff were attentive and helpful during your stay. And, I am glad you had the opportunity to go on some of the interpretive walks we over. The scenery is beautiful and those of us that are fortunate enough to live here sometimes take it for granted.

Your comment about us putting you in a room with someone above when the resort was not busy is a good one and I will pass it along to the Front Office staff.

Thank you for your comments.

Stayed for Christmas and New Years in two bedroom condo at Banff Rocky Mountain Resort. The unit has been renovated and was nice but tight room sizes. The location of the resort is great because you miss the crowded streets in town, resort is right outside city limits on Tunnel Mountain road and they do offer transport into town. There is also a ski bus to ski areas. The resort has nice pool, spa, indoor courts, pool table in Pub, dart games, and computer access. If traveling with a family you can cook in or eat out, the two bedroom had plenty of pots, pans, dishes for family of six. Two queen beds, with queen pull/out couch. I tried the couch one night and cannot recommend for anyone except kids. The unit had two baths, one shower downstairs and a tub in the upstairs bathroom. The refrigerator went out while I was in the unit and the staff replaced it right away. Wood is delievered for the fireplace with a $7.00 fee. TV was older and needs to be replaced, also only one TV in the unit. I was disappointed that they had nothing to play music on in the condo. Otherwise the resort is well kept and a delight to visit.

Room Tip: Not handicap acess, so need to have a first floor unit if walking is a problem.

I am glad to hear you enjoyed your time in Banff over the holidays and we appreciate your comments about the resort. We do plan to replace the televisions this year but do not have plans to put more televisions in the unit. Your comment about no place to play music is a good one and something we will consider when we are replacing the clock radios in the rooms-perhaps something which can accommodate an ipod.

Thank you again for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate it.
