“Great location and value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

We stayed a week and took in skiing in the area hills and shopping in town. The location was perfect! The price was right and the free breakfast was great. The room was small and dated. The bed was one of the worst I've ever slept in. The overall cleanliness was good. Overall I would come back but I'd spend more for a bigger room and better bed.

“nice perks”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2013

stayed here for 4 nights mid week early feb. The room was comfortable but did have problem with heat. Even though we turned down our thermostat, we slept with the balcony door open. It is probably just me but it was warm, but then I sleep with my slider door open at home even when temps are in the 30's.

Our balcony room was on the right side of the building next to another hotel property. It was a little noisy especially when the partiers next store decided to take outside the building at 3 am and where quite loud. We mentioned to the front desk the next morning and found out that it was the same owner. Never had this problem again on the trip.

The most important part, the bed, was very soft and comfortable.

I did notice that while the hallways are air conditioned, the rooms aren't. This seems to be the case with most hotels in banff.

The breakfasts were very nice but the service seemed to be sporadic. It must be because this is off season in banff.

There were 2 indoor hot tubs on the lower level as well as a steam room and sauna. The hot tubs were too hot for me but that is a personal preference. I like the tub around 100 degrees not 104 (unless outside). It would be better to have the tubs at different temperatures.

The location is great. It is at the beginning of the 'main street'

We would consider going back if the price was right. I would consider their other property the carribou which looked newer but is further on down the street (away from town). The Carribou spa looked great but I never had a chance to get over there.

Room Tip: try to get a outside room with balcony

“You kids have fun! Over 25 stay elsewhere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed February 21, 2013

I recently stayed a night at the Ptarmigan Inn with my wife and 2 teenage sons. The hotel is clean, the staff is great, the location is great, Banff is great. But....if I was 18 to 25 and single this would have been the time of my life. The other guests were very young and partied all evening and night. If you are 18 to 25 you will love this hotel. If you are over 25, have kids, want sleep, want to get up early...stay elsewhere.

Of ya, the complimentary breakfast was awesome!

Room Tip: All rooms are noisy, doors are paper thin. You hear everything going on in all rooms around you. Don...

Welcome home and thank you for taking the time to write a review. I am so sorry to hear your sleep was interrupted during the quiet hours of the hotel 11pm to 7am. We do have a 24 hour front desk and security that can deal with any noise issues you may have during those hours. We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed the free breakfast with your stay and appreciate your feedback in regards to our service and cleanliness.

“Definitely recommend”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

This was the second time that we spent a week at this hotel. The location is great, shopping and restaurants well within walking distance and the real convenience is the ski bus stopping outside the door. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was amazing. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. Although the hotel was full at the weekend it was quiet and there was free Internet access in the room. All this and some powder made it an enjoyable week.

“Awesome breakfast, great location!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013 via mobile

Our group of friends always stays her when we are skiing in Banff! It is a great location (less than a 5 minute walk to downtown), and the breakfast is the best we have seen at any of the hotels in the area! Highly recommended and great value!
