“Comfortable and cosy”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

We spent 4 nights here. It was just what we wanted. With a large bedroom, and bathroom, sitting area and a well equipped kitchenette and a log fire, We did not eat in the restaurant, we ate two nights in Banff and two nights in our room. The beds were very comfortable. We lit the log fire one evening as it had been a horrid wet day. The fire was cleaned out the next day and more kindling and logs put in the grate.

We arrived to a smiling reception, who offered an room upgrade, and we got a very nice, spacerious and cozy room with a big bathroom and a little patio. But you can hear what they are doing in the room below ! There was not much lightning in the room !
We had a great stay and was surpriced by the delicious food served in the restaurant.

The hotel was very nice and cozy and the service was excellent. The open front wood burning fireplace in our room made for a romantic evening after our days activities. Our only complaint was the lack of parking apparently due to a wedding at the reception hall that night. We had to park at the entrance and walk in to our room.

The hotel is located a decent walk outside of the main Banff area but is well worth the effort to get there. We had an upgraded room with stunning mountain views, a little veranda area, a superb bathroom, good sized main room with fireplace and extremely comfortable bed. From our room we had immediate access to the countryside. The breakfast was excellent with good attentive staff. The only issues we experienced was intermittent wifi which was a little irritating....but then you are in the mountains and if connectivity is what you require for work maybe consider alternatives. Also it was really hot the day we arrived and an air con in the room would have been good but by no means essential.

Room Tip: Try and get a room with a mountain view rather than directly at the trees or parking lot

Had a great time at this place, sleeping with the fire was cool.
Will come back.
The wifi is a bit tricky and complicated.
Breakfast buffet a excellent deal.
Lights in the room are really bad.
Hot tube could be hotter.

We had issue with Internet in our room they gave us another room and the same issue. Stone other rooms were fine so make sure you check the room. Also the rooms in 2nd floor are hit in summer without any air conditioning.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2013

This hotel is located just outside downtown Banff. We arrived just after the Alberta floods and it was not clear we would be able to get there. The email staff was very responsive and the check in staff was great. Our room was all done in wood, even the ceiling. The beds were very clean and comfortable. There is a wood burning stove in the room and a fire was built and ready to be lit when we arrived. There are two restaurants there, one more formal. We tried both but preferred the more formal one. The menu was limited but good. There is a nice bar/sitting area outside the dining area with a cozy fire so you can enjoy a before or after dinner drink. The location has a lot of grade to it so if you have trouble with stairs be sure to ask about where your room is when making reservations. I would have no problem staying here again.

Room Tip: The second floor rooms have a nicer view

Buffalo Mountain Lodge is a peaceful retreat on Tunnel Mountain in Banff, AB. The lodge is surrounded by 9 acres of towering fir, pine, and spruce trees, yet just a 15 minute walk or 3 minute drive from the shopping, nightlife and restaurants that are on offer in downtown Banff. Each room has been carefully decorated to reflect the mountain lifestyle in Banff-the accommodation is anything but 'cookie cutter.' The outdoor stainless steel hot tub is best enjoyed after an invigorating hike, bike or ski on one of the nearby trails-or perhaps to aid digestion after a sumptuous meal in the lodge's highly acclaimed restaurant, Sleeping Buffalo. ... more   less
