“Disappointing”

Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Our group of 6 stayed overnight at Buffalo Mountain Lodge in February -- a work get-away to celebrate an accomplishment. Our rooms were very attractive but no one got a good night's sleep. The walls aren't very sound-proof and we were all kept awake by people in other rooms, as well as by people yelling in the parking lot and on their balconies. When we told the front desk person that we hadn't enjoyed our stay the response was, "Well, we hope you'll come again."

“Great Food and helpfull staff combined with beautiful rooms!”

Buffalo Mountain Lodge

Mar 9, 2008

My fiancee and I decided to finally take a trip into the Canadian Rockies this past month. Through a recommendation from my brother and his wife, we chose Buffalo Mountain Lodge for our night in Banff. We hadn't booked a dinner reservation, but the staff were able to accomodate us anyway on a busy Friday night. The menu was impressive, and the staff were quite helpfull in helping us choose our meal. The staff were even able to give us great recommendations on exactly where to ski the following day, and which trails we might really enjoy.

All said, it was a great stay, and we will surely return next ski season.

“Loved the real fire”

We stayed at this hotel as part of our Honeymoon in the Rockies. We thought this was a great hotel. I loved having the fire in the room. We lit it every night (even though it was August)! There was a really nice restaurant at the hotel too (not sure if its part of the hotel).
It was a good hotel for a quiet romantic break as its a bit out of town. I guess you could walk down into Banff but it's a bit of a trek. We tended to take the car.
The views from up on Tunnel Mountain Road are fantastic. It's a great spot.
We're going to Banff again but have decided to stay somewhere different as we want to be in the town this time as we don't have a car.
I would recommend Buffalo Mountain Lodge.

Nice, but paper thin walls and ceilings. No one in our party (out of 4 rooms) got a good nights sleep.

Loud music from my neighbors, I called the front desk twice and they did nothing. The music was still going at 1am!!!

Another group in our party had kids running around the room above them.

Another group had a room on the pathway, so was kept up by people coming back from the bars/pubs at 3AM.

GET a room on the top floor, away from the paths, and BRING ear plugs if you like to sleep.

I've stayed in 2 star motels that were quieter.

THE RESTAURANT: everything has an extra charge.
THE BAR: they measure the oz. (surprised they didn't use an eye dropper)

“Beautiful location but some improvement needed”

We stayed in the Buffalo mountain lodge in Banff for our honeymoon and the whole site and area is amazing. Really secluded and beautiful views of the mountains and the deer running around the nearby woods. The only thing was that we paid a lot of money for the room and it could have been better. I'm only seeing now that other guests took pictures of their rooms which were completely different to ours. It was very cosy and rustic - we wern't expecting the four seasons but it was in need of a few repairs. The chimney vent was blocked so when we tried to light a fire we got smoked out of it! Our clothes stank!!!

Some of the young staff are lovely..very helpful and accomodating. We ate in the hotel restaurant and it was VERY expensive. Very small portions so we wern't overlly impressed. The waiter was like lurch from the Adam's family and kept hovering over us making us quite uneasy. The girl in the bar was making cocktails and kindly offered one to us to try out. We declined but she insisted..we took it that she was giving us a complimentry drink but it was charged to us on the bill for $10!! When we were checking out we raised a few issues/concerns that we had encountered and were basically told to get lost and how any complaints should be brought to their attention straight away. So we were kinda miffed over that.

I would recommend for anybody visiting Canada to visit Banff as we fell in love with it. I wouldnt' however advise to stay in this esbablishment unless you get a really good deal and a fantastic room.
