“Good varied menu”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Good variety on menu, decent wine selection, friendly staff. Everything good apart from one dish which was quickly replaced with choice at no cost.

“Very good food and stunning views!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

We just ate here for dinner and had a really good dining experience. We had a party of 5 and sat out on their beautiful patio, with stunning views of the mountains.

There were a lot of mosquitoes out, as it is common in Banff after a rainy season, but I disagree with people who complain about them, because there is nothing staff can do about it, oh wait, there is!

It just occurred to me to ask and the friendly manager came by our table with some bug spray, et voi la...mosquito free for the rest of the evening! He also noticed we were cold and brought us blankets! Very nice, classy, and thoughtful of you, Sir...

It is easy to complain about those things, but people should learn to ask before, as there is usually always a solution for just about anything.

The food was delicious and the cooks take pride in what they do, also helping bring the dishes to the table and following up if guests are enjoying themselves.

The only negative aspect out of our entire dining experience was our server. She seemed aloof and not really there... maybe she was new, but the support offered from the kitchen staff and the manager really helped "save" our overall dining experience.

“Casual location, with one of the best views in Banff”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

The Juniper's deck has one of the best views in Banff. If it's raining, you can get the same view from a window table. This is a very casual restaurant. We greatly enjoyed the very generous trio of dips (hummus, eggplant/fig and black radish) appetizer that we shared -- the best appetizer in our five days in Banff. But we were disappointed that only a few of their wine offerings came by the glass. We had sandwiches for our entrees -- salmon for me and grilled chicken for my husband -- both good. Isabelle was a very pleasant waitress.

“A hidden gem in Banff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 19, 2013

This restaurant is the hidden gem in Banff. The views from the restaurant would rival any in the Rockies and well worth the 5 min car journey from town. The mushroom bruschetta starter and mountain minestrone soup were tasty and well presented. We each had a different main: the catch of the day, cod with a Canadian signature, lamb chops and flat iron steak all of which were delicious and well cooked. The ambiance was relaxed and service was attentive without being intrusive. The price is in line with other restaurants in the town and very good value for quality ingredients, sustainable sourced. Okay, so there are already two prestige hotels offering fantastic views and great food but the welcome here is warm and genuine while the views, in our opinion, better and at half the price.

With reference to the previous comment about mosquitoes, it has to be remembered that the recent torrential rain has led to ideal breeding conditions for the little blighters and it is no different in town (we have the bites to prove it). The restaurant is in the national park and has an ethos of sustainability which prevents mass destruction of the even the tiniest and most annoying creatures. The upside is that it is not unknown for wildlife to wander about the patio on occasions.

We will definitely go again when we return to Banff and would recommend anyone to make the effort to visit for themselves.

“Good food, great view”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

The Juniper hotel's on-site restaurant had very good food at a reasonable price and our wait staff, Mason and Dave, were very pleasant and attentive. The open-faced salmon sandwich and the barley/mushroom soup were excellent.
