“Crowds take away from the experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2014 NEW

This is probably the most famous site in all of Banff National Park and it has the crowds to show for it. The hotel is very impressive and the grounds are quite pretty, but the lake itself is not as beautiful as Moraine Lake and the crowds make it hard to appreciate the natural beauty of the area as you hike or take photos.

My advice is that if you only have time for one of the famous lakes of Banff choose Moraine over Louise.

“Magical in the snow”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2014 NEW

It was snowing on the day we went to Lake Louise and it was truly beautiful. Had been before in May but this was a different world. The snow added to the ambience.

“Easy walk around most of the lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2014 NEW

Loved the scenery, so pristine and beautiful. Amazing teal colored waters, with the mountains and snow in the background, the old stately hotel on the other end made for a lovely afternoon.

“Pretty but crowded”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2014 NEW

We went to see the lake after a unusual early snow storm, the lake was clouded in for the most part , but it was still pretty and is a beautiful blue color. There were a lot of people there but we hiked to the end of the lake and left the crowds behind. Go take a look and walk to the end of the lake, it is worth it.

“Worth the drive from Calgary even if you just stop and look at Lake Louise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2014 NEW

This has got to be one of the most beautiful spots in Canada. Yes, it would be great to stay there. But even if you only have a day or part of a day, it is worth the drive from Calgary to go up and visit the lake for even an hour. The view is breathtaking. There is a little shopping center close to the highway where you can get sandwiches, drinks, and whatever you need for a picnic. Parking can be a little difficult, but patience helps. This is one of those places I'd love to go back and be able to spend some time, and just relax and enjoy. Note, this was not the snow or ski season, but there was snow on the mountain opposite the lake.
