5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 3, 2013

Visiting Banff national park is not complete without taking in the breath taking view at Lake Louise. It' even more beautiful up close and personal. I was like ..oh my God, is this for real??? I would want to return to this place again and again...

“Gosh”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

There's a reason it gets crowded around here. I was there briefly more than 30 years ago and when I saw it again, I stopped in my tracks and said, "oh my." The color and grandeur is so overwhelming it makes the most jaded traveler pause. You forget about the crowds and just let the magic of nature's sculpting wash over you. Pictures don't really do it justice, you've got to just stand there and gape.
From here we hiked up to Lake Agnes (forget about the tea house, too long a wait in the summer.) and then I went onto the Big Beehive, which is quite strenuous if you're not in shape, but achievable. Once up there I was rewarded with a wonderful view of the area. I'm not quite sure I'd do that particular walk again (Big beehive) as I think there's other walks around where your energy is better spent. (Helen Lake) (Little Beehive?)
But do see Lake Louise..really worth it!!! (Oh it was not easy finding parking in the busy summer but eventually we waited till someone pulled out. Be patient or go early)

“Lady Agnes trail to the tea house”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013

We enjoyed an early morning hike ( walk) up to the teahouse. You need to be reasonably fit .. it's 7 km round trip and 350m vertical, but easy walking for the most part. Lovely views out over the Lake and two beautiful little lakes along the way. At the top there is a lovely cabin with a few tables and some park benches. Tea, coffee and some yummy baked goods make it a pleasant stop before decending. Bring cash for the teahouse, wear layers of clothing as you'll warm up as you hike. Pack some water and a little snack if you don't want to spend $, and plan to arrive early in the day to avoid crowds. Hike takes about 3-4 hours at an easy pace including a stop at the top. Great way to experience the area!

“A GREEN GEM”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Left Banff about 7am. and drove out to Lake Louise about 60 ks. Good to go early as easy then to get a park but a bit later in the morning it got very crowded as it is a very popular place. As soon as you see the lake it takes your breath away, Picture perfect just like you see on postcards, a beautifull emerald green. .A terrific walk along the side of the lake takes you to where the waters from the glaciers enter. Such a peacefull spot looking up at the the mountains where the six glaciers are, the dominant one being Mount Victoria & Glacier named after Queen Victoria.
Lake Louise is named after her fourth Daughter. While there it is nice to look around the lovely Fairmont Chateau and it's lovely flower beds. A great spot for photos looking back over the lake. Surely one of the loveliest spots you will ever see. Another great thing to do there is to hire a canoe and paddle around the lake. A place made in heaven, go there but go early.

“One of the most beautiful places on the planet”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

There are dozens of reviews extolling the beauty of this lake. A visit is even better than the pictures. Yep lots of tourists but I can't complain as I was one of them. The weather was lovely and we will cherish this memory. Do not miss it.
