“Perfect house for hen party”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 16, 2012 for a stay in April 2012

14 of us stayed here for my sisters hen party. The house is gorgeous. Perfect open plan space, beds, seating and dining for all of us. The house is about 20 mins from Sheffield city so a great location for a night out. Hot tub was great fun and the views were stunning overlooking the peak district. Owners were very helpful and we couldn't have asked for more! Many supermarkets deliver also so very practical. We all had a great time and would return in a heartbeat.

“Lovely accommodation, great location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2012 for a stay in March 2012

We stayed with two other couples and a total of five children.
A great time was had by all,the accommodation was spacious & had pretty much everything we needed. Very convenient for trips out into the Peak District - Chatsworth is only 15 minutes away.
The only complaint we had was that the heating was too hot & there was no option to turn it down (and we were there on a fairly cold weekend).

“A 'must-see' house. Beautiful, comfortable and fully equipped. Brilliant.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 22, 2012 for a stay in February 2012

Every single member of our group walked into the house and exclaimed 'wow'. It is restored and kitted out beautifully and the views from the living room are stunning. We are looking for excuses to return...!

“Awesome house, incredible views, helpful and thoughtful owners”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 6, 2012 for a stay in January 2012

I had my hen weekend in the house and all of my girls loved it. It was snowing when we arrived and we were greeted with the most stunning views and a lovely warm and snugly house.

There was plenty of room for all 11 of us including storage in the bedrooms and for food and drink in the kitchen.

I had a call when we got there to make sure everything was ok and when I said we couldn’t get the strap of the hot tub the owners arranged someone to come out (In the snow) to help us.

We were close enough to all amenities needed and walking distance from a couple of pubs, what more can you ask for.

We are already arranging our next trip back together and additional trips with our families.
I would recommend this house to anyone and I cannot wait to go back.

“Wonderful place for a family gathering”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2011 for a stay in October 2011

We ranged in age from 80s to 7, and it was the perfect place for all of us. Hot tub, table footie, pool and ping pong to keep us entertained at the cottage, and loads of great things to do within a twenty minute drive. Everything is top spec - good showers, comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, (fairly) reliable wifi, etc. We particularly liked that the kids could be noisy in the games area or hot tub, leaving adults to relax quietly in the huge living room. We hope to return next year.

“Beautiful property - High standard throughout.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2011 for a stay in October 2011

We had a lovely time as a group of friends with small children in this fantastic property that has everything you need.

All bedrooms were well equipped with good storage space and plenty of room. Usually in larger properties you get one room that is not as nice or small but this was not the case here.

The kitchen was well equipped and large making it a sociable place to be. The were 2 under counter fridges, which were a bit of a squeeze, but as we were only there for a weekend it worked out.

The living area was lovely with fantastic views and cosy log burner. Plenty of comfy seating.

The bathrooms were of a high standard, looked modern and were clean.

Owners were easily accessible by telephone and were helpful.

The heating system in the house worked great and the property was warm throughout.
Hot tub was fantastic and one of the reasons we booked this house - it was working fine.

We hope to be back.

“Location ok, House ok, customer service lacking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 28, 2011 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed here to celebrate 2 special birthdays in our family for a week. The house itself has plenty of room for everyone in our party (we had 11 staying over the weekend then 6 during the rest of the week). We were fairly happy with everything when we first arrived, it was only when we noticed the problem with the hot tub and the subsequent mixed responses from the owners that we felt let down. We arrived Friday and noticed almost straight away that the hot tub leaked, the answer to this from the lady who visited to help was to connect the hose pipe to the hot water supply of the rental house next door which we did. Because the hot tub emptied 3 times a day we rang the owner and left a voice mail the next day (no answer by calling) and received a text saying that could we text as unable to receive 'phone calls. By the Monday we were still texting and filling up the hot tub when we received a text saying that the repair company had been contacted but could we call them to arrange the repair as the owner could not make calls only texts. I texted back a little disgruntled due to the fact that we hadn’t yet spoken to the owner and were having to arrange for the hot tub repair and almost immediately received a 'phone call from the other owner. This 'phone call summed up the service we received during the period that the hot tub was faulty, we were told that the repair man had visited the previous week and carried out a full service (when he did arrive we asked if this was true and he said no it wasn’t- he was asked to just look at it when he serviced the one next door), we were also told that if we had booked a hotel then we could also have been faced with faulty facilities so it was to be expected, we were also told that everything was being done to correct the fault. There was no apology or suggested alternative to make up for our troubles. When the repair man did arrive on Tuesday evening he said he replaced the pump seals and that the hot tub was very old and worn which it certainly looked like to us too. By the next day the hot tub was still emptying itself and to be honest we had lost the inclination to report this to the owners due to the response during our 'phone conversation so we just carried on for a few days then left it to empty the day before we left.

The play area in the house was very well used by the children, the football table and pool table and table tennis- a great addition to the house.

The location itself is fairly central (the house is just on the side of a busy road though) for driving around to visit, we went to Chatsworth, Eyam, Castleton and for the odd walk from the house to the moors close by and further afield. The village itself has a number of pubs but is about a mile walk away and if you want a shop its a few miles drive.

Other defects in the house we found were: -
Log fire glass door cracked, dishwasher bottom rack broken, fridge door cupboard dropped on hinges and did not close properly, hob lights out, also the stairs very narrow to the bedrooms.

Having seen this property rated as 5 star luxury with hot tub we were all expecting something very special but with the general wear and tear we felt this is a bit of an exaggeration and will not be returning but would love to return to the area maybe closer to amenities and further from the road.

Management Response
Sep 10, 2011
We were disappointed to read this review and really sorry that the visitor felt that we didn't give the best customer service. We have over 60 very positive reviews including one from the people who stayed the week after and before, and many that comment on how good our customer service is. It was very unfortunate that the week this gentleman came I was not in the country and I had to try to contact him via different time zones. We had organised the hot tub to be serviced the week before his visit and it only found out on our return that whilst the service engineer had visited a full service had not been completed. I arranged for someone to come up the minute I was informed there was a problem, but the engineer couldn't fit us in until 2 days later. When we were told it couldn't be fixed I tried to contact several companies to rent one, unfortunately this was not an option, on that same day I ordered a new one and the first time it could be delivered was on the Friday that this guest departed, which was unfortunately too late for this family. I understand that the visitor was not happy, the point I was trying to make about the hotel - was that just these things happen from time to time even at the best hotels, and this was a completely unfortunate that his had happened to him and I was doing everything I could to fix it while they were there. In response to all the other points - and I would like to thank him for bringing them to my attention. This house is checked on a regular basis and sometimes we miss things but when we are told we fix them. Many of our reviews say that it is very well equipped and they didn't want to leave because it was so comfortable. The pubs is 0.5 miles away, and all major supermarkets deliver to the house if required. Once again we are sorry that this particular customer felt this way, and if you want to read other reviews please contact us and we will send you the address where they can be read.
