“A good day off the GR20”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2012

Yes, it's not a pretty building, but the rooms (we were staying in the Gite d'Etape section) were clean and well appointed, the showers were very welcome and the food was first-rate given the price range. The facilities, though not luxurious, were clean, worked well and adequate in number. As worldcitizenParis says, a superb change after the refuges!
There's nothing to do in Haut Asco, so on my day off I went to Ponte Leccia in the shuttle, whilst my walking companion nipped up Monte Cinto (Corsica's highest mountain).

If I were on a driving holiday in Corsica, I'd be glad to drive to the top of this long oneway road to spend another night here.

After 3 hiking days from Calenzana, sleeping in the tent , queuing for freezing cold showers and disgusting toilets , this hotel was a godsend. It comprises of the actual hotel where all rooms have been refurbished including the bathrooms and a gite d'étapes which seems very clean with rooms for 4 to 6 . There is a washing machine and dryer (10 euros) which is quite convenient .
The food is good and reasonably priced.
This was a welcome respite before the cirque de la solitude

The building itself is ugly, but it's situated in a place of intense beauty, with mighty granite peak all around it. The place is popular with day trippers, but its the GR20 hikers who really appreciate it - with its soft beds, simple but newly refurbished rooms, and, most important, a bathtube with unlimited supply of hot water. The hotel's restaurant has an extensive a la carte menu of Corsican specialities, and the food is delicious. If you're on a budget, you can also order a cheaper 3-course set menu. In contrast to gite d'etapes on the GR, this hotel also serves wine that actually comes in a bottle. And breakfast is almost divine, with hot croissants, fresh bread and non-instant coffee!!!
Apart from serving as a gite d'etape for GR hikers, the place is also ideal as a base for several hiking trips in the surrounding moutains.
