“Great hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 17, 2012 via mobile

Me and the mrs stayed for a night a couple of months ago. The hotel inside and out was stunning. The rooms spacious and very clean. Breakfast in the morning was in the old converted church which looked amazing and the breakfast was brilliant. My only one complaint was as the room was very hot i opened the window only to hear what sounded like an electrical buzzing. Must be a pump or a generator. Really annoying. All in all we had a great stay.

I haven't been to a load of weddings but have to say the one at An Grianán was the best. A little birdie told me that the "King of Tory" was a guest and that he was seated at our table so I was looking forward to it, but unfortunately he had other commitments and could not make it. Beautiful hotel in Co. Donegal not far from Derry and ideal for a function. On arrival we were offered refreshments which consisted of tea/coffee/wine/champagne and sandwiches. After about an hour in the cosy bar with all the guests we were ushered into the function room [Tuatha Dé Danann] for the main event. Beautiful round room [a sort of modern replica of Grianán of Aileach which is only a stones throw away] large enough to accomodate many guests. After the speeches the meal was served, and boy, what a meal. The roast beef was the best I ever tasted, and it itself, would have been enough food for the evening. The small army of staff were very efficient and very friendly and my only complaint would be that they kinda rushed the meal a bit. The bar never got too busy the whole evening so we never had to wait long for a drink. After a lovely desert and coffee the music began and a fine night was had by all. A lot of the wedding party were staying at the hotel with the result of it been booked out and we could not stay there, so sadly it came time to depart. What a night, pity the King couldn't make it. If anyone wants to boost their guest list a bit, I'm your man!!

We stayed here as couple with a 6 month old baby. The hotel looks impressive and the entrance hall was cosy and smart. The staff were very friendly and eager to offer assistance. The church restaurant where we had breakfast was very quaint with the original pews and stain glass windows and there was a variety of cereals, fruit and cooked breakfasts. For me the hotel fell down on our room whilst it was clean and functional I expected more from this kind of hotel. The bedding was clean and white with a colourful bed runner but there was no valance leaving the bed boxes exposed. The kettle was attached to the plug so to fill it you had to take the plug into the bathroom risking getting it wet when filling and finally there was no fridge in our room so we could keep our drinks cool or more importantly store baby food or expressed breast milk for our little one. I asked at reception if we could have one as there was cupboard space where you would expect there to be one but was told this wasn't possible but that they could store them in the hotel fridge for us. I would recommend this hotel as overall we had a really nice stay and the setting is picturesque I just expected a few extras

For lunch yesterday we decided to try the carvery lunch at An Grianan Hotel and we were not disappointed! Friendly staff on arrival, explained how the carvery lunch worked, brought us to our table, took our drinks order and were served our soup. Lots of choise for starter, main course, we were able to try a few of the different meats, same with dessert. The staff hovered around discreetly but if you need anything they were right beside you. The restaurant is well laid out, plent of space between tables and exceptionally clean.A 5 course meal for €22 per person - please try it!

We recently had a family wedding here, We arrived on the Friday and stayed until the Sunday. From the staff, to the scrumptious food, the level of detail is superb. Nothing was too much trouble. One member of staff in particular Chris who is the most pleasant and helpful barman my family and I have meet in years. From the children to the elders all had nothing but good words on him. We shall be returning to The Grianan next week for the Clonmany festival and i hope we have the same experience again.

"What can I say".. loads actually, 11 out of 10 (actually make that 10 out of 10, they didn't have a swimming pool or fitness centre). Our daughter had her wedding here recently and everybody thought the hotel was great. Modern yet cosy, very comfortable rooms, spotlessly clean, Beautiful tasty mouth-watering food in an old renovated church that was so quaint, but what made it all the better was the warm friendly attentive staff who made our stay the hotel so nice, nothing was too much trouble. Okay it may be slightly out of the way for those who like to be in the thick of the action but both Derry and Buncrana are only 10mins away, & Letterkenny 20mins. An Grianan Aileach the ancient ring fort is a 5 min drive away and overlooks the back of the hotel. An ideal location for those wishing to tour the Giants Causeway, Rope bridge and Glenveagh National Park are just over 1 hour away. Book it you won't be disappointed.
