We gathered here one lunchtime for a family gathering and decided to take advantage of the fixed price lunch. From the outset, service was chilly - were to be treated as "cheapskates" for daring to take up a prix fixee offer?
The owner, with dogs in tow, reluctantly took our order, but at no stage checked back how the food was. One of the dishes was salmon and sea bass and one of our party diod not like salmon, thus she wanted sea bass only. When it arrived, we were surprised to see one very small piece of sea bass on her plate - would it have hurt to replace the salmon with a second sea bass fillet? The other meals were adequate, though portions not generous and the quality wholly unmemorable.
This review gets two stars because 1) the service, particularly that from the owner, was non existent; and 2) the owner saw no reason why his dogs should not have free range of the restaurant and, from what I could see, the kitchens. One would hope that in this da and age hygeine would dictate that dogs (yes, I like dogs too) and food do not match in a commercial environment.
The inn looks attractive, but there are other, better options in the town I feel and next time we will avoid it.
