“what a great atmosphere and food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2014

we recently spent 10 weeks in nuevo vallarta during this winter and by chancve we heard of CIAO (pronouced CHOW). many a time we drove by but this time we tried it. what a surprise we had. the food is superb .some thought this was only pizza , but the shrimp, steak, lobster suppers are fit for royality! the service is top notch and the atmosphere is great. we end up there 5 more times.i would highly recommend CIAO to any tastebuds. gary cumming chatham ontario canada

“Excellent pizza!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2014

Great little restaurant out in the open with great food and great entertainment! Within walking distance from our resort so that was also a plus.

“Wonderful time and outstanding service”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 29, 2014

Ciao was a great surprise. Just down the road from our resort, Paradise Village, and a short 40 peso cab ride, we couldn't have enjoyed it more. The service was excellent. Our server did everything to ensure that we were all happy (tough task with three kids under 8!) and when they requested vanilla ice cream at the end of the meal (something that was not on the menu, go figure!) he ran next door to the neighboring restaurant and got it for them. In addition to stellar service, the flat bread pizzas were delicious. And we loved sitting right in front of the open kitchen as we watched our meal being prepared. And top of it all, the live music and dancing (which the kids joined in on!) ensured that it was a night we'd all remember. Two thumbs way up!!

“Tasty Italian”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2014

This place just opened up a few months ago and is already getting a big draw. We liked it so much the first time we went back again a few days later. Great atmosphere; tasty food. They have some of the best thin crust pizza I've had. Being only a short walk from Paradise village, we will make this one of our go-to places

“Bummer!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed March 24, 2014

We have owned a place in Nuevo Vallarta for 13 years and have been enjoying all of the new restaurants popping up and the quality they deliver! Fajita Republic, El Dinamitos, Riviera Grill to name a few so we were excited about Ciao as it has a great location and atmosphere. We went there tonight for dinner with some friends from Chicago and it was pretty much awful. The original waiter took our drink order and 3 times told us someone name Cesar would be our waiter. Eventually he came back and said he didn't know where Cesar was and thought he left so he would help us. We ordered a bottle of wine and they drug a bar seat over for the wine chiller to sit on which all in all I guess wasn't terrible (???). Then we ordered the cheese plate....it came out with a myriad of cheeses, one small piece of garlic toast for each person (one was burnt) and potato chips. It advertised marmalades and fruit and there was half of one strawberry and a salad in a stemless wine glass (???). I asked our server if he could tell us what the cheeses were and he said he had no idea.

When our meals arrived our two guests meals were served on 12x12 slate tiles...an attempt at a coolness factor I suppose, but not a workable concept on a small table so everyone was trying to move glasses, etc. and they still had to be set cockeyed and partially hanging off the table. I ordered pizza and it had no flavor whatsoever. The crust was bland bland bland and of the toppings the only thing with any flavor was the jalapenos. Our waiter dropped off our food and promptly walked off, never really checking back in with us. The service was lacking, the food was lacking....it seemed like a restaurant that needed an owner's presence or at bare minimum proper training for the staff.

We have more friends coming in this weekend and I was hoping to have a good new place to take them, but given one of them is a professional chef it definitely won't be here. There are many good places to give Ciao some real competition so if they don't get their act together soon it WILL be Ciao! for them!
