We stayed at the Sea Garden over Thanksgiving. The place is clean; staff attentive and the pool and beach fabulous.

The pool bar is great. The entertainment staff kept people dancing and hopping. They ought to get double salaries. They work hard and have great personalities.

We went to the Buffet for Breakfast and the choices were great.
Wednesday evening they had an International Buffet that was spectacular: prime rib etc.

Two evenings we went: across the street to Guido's - excellent rack of lamb and good italian food; Frascati's up north - great food. WARNING: We went to the POLYNESIA EVENING SHOW. They charge 420-450 pesos. The line was long waiting for a table; the food was buffet-style and mediocre and the entertainment was high school variety show hula dancing. If they charged 200 pesos it might have been worth it. NOT!! There are so many great places to go in PV and our party of 6 DO NOT RECOMMEND THE POLYNESIA Party on the beach. Have your own party!

My husband and I spent a week at the Mayan Sea Gardens Hotel. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable.

The staff is very helpful, fun, and entertaining. We enjoyed the activites, pool and the beach. While we were there they had fireworks almost every night and met some other nice couples.

We ate at the Ramba almost everyday and the food was excellent and the price was not bad. We didn't get a room with a kitchen but we visited the market outside the hotel for snacks, drinks and breakfast items.

We went for a tour of the Grand Mayan and found it to be tooo crowed. The Sea Gardens was quiet and relaxing.

Don't be afraid to take the bus (stop is outside the hotel) to downtown Peurto Vallarta. Take the one that says Centro but NOT RIO on the way down or else you will take a ride to every hotel and it will take you 1.5hrs. On the way home you want to take the bus that says RIO as it stops at the seas garden first. To get to the old part of peurto vallarta(where the best shopping is) you will want to take the blue and white buss at the stop by walmart that say centro and it should only cost you 5 pesos. It costs about $1.20 to get to the mall and Walmart and to get to the old part of Peurto Vallarts it is a total of $1.70 were a taxi could cost you over $30.00.

To make your stay a little better I have a few tips. If you upgrade to the suite with kitchen facilities, and you plan on cooking meals, here are a few suggestions... Bring a non-stick pan with you as the ones provided are stainless steel and are difficult to cook on. They provide plenty of utencils. You get a blender, toaster, coffeemaker, etc. Take a taxi for 100 pesos to a huge grocery store called MEGA in Bucerias. Good prices, and they are extremely helpful. There are always taxis outside to take you back to the resort.

The resort is nice, clean, well cared for. The beds are quite firm, but not uncomfortable. The AC works well. I got a room facing the golf course and marina, I would have rather been facing the ocean though. The AC condensers are on that side and fairly noisy, but its too hot to have the window open on that side of the building anyways.

Be aware that almost everyone down there is tied in one way or another to the promotion and sales of timeshares or condos. They will almost always ask when you are leaving or when you arrived. If you're not interested, tell them you're leaving tomorrow (even if you're not), and they will leave you alone. They are quite persistent! They can also offer some very nice discounts/offers if you are interested.

Its a great resort, but I wish you could use the pool facilities at the Mayan Palace next door.
