“Convenience store, small selection, clean, with higher prices.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 3, 2011

Leaving bags with someone before entering shops is common in Mexico. Being searched as you come out also has become common. Finding things "extra - extra security wrapped" is common. [Those who are not willing to accept these things are best left at home]. The guards are not accusing you of stealing, only accusing you of disobeying the covert rules probably - do not try to walk past them! This is the reality of Mexico - do you want to experience a little of the culture or not?! The area to leave your bag is well marked, and you are not being singled out. The resort area is only semi-gated; and this is being done because the merchants find it necessary. Look carefully at the merchandise as there are sometimes items hidden under other items, and that might be just what you are looking for! Remember that unless your Spanish is perfect, those serving you are struggling to help you too! Like us, they have varying degrees of ability with the "other" language!

“Poor Service. Go if you really need something.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed September 28, 2010

For a resort area you'd expect more in customer service. Never have I had to leave my purse with a locker gal but I did here. After I purchased a few items a security guard chased me down to tell me I hadn't purchased something. He flat out told me that I took something without paying for it. I showed him my receipt. It wasn't enough. He then searched my grocery bag only to find I didn't steal anything. He threw his arms up and walked away. No apology or nothing for accusing me of stealing.

Mexico left a bad taste in my mouth. It was little things like this that made me want to go anywhere but here!

“Convenient for Nuevo Vallarta tourists”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2006

The Paradise Village shopping mall has an ATM, some touristy gift shops, beach clothing stores, chain restaurants, and a small grocery store. Prices in the grocery stores were quite reasonable considering the captive audience of tourists (ex. 5 pesos for a bottle of water). The store also sells beach toys and supplies, pharmaceuticals, and alcohol.

“Quick fix for US travellers in Nuevo Vallarta”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2005

The Sunset Market is a typical US style grocery store and full service pharmacy that serves condos and resort guests in Neuvo Vallarta. It opens at 8 am. You can find almost anything you need here. Sunset Market is located in Paradise Village Mall. This enclosed 2-story US style mall has a Dominos, Subway, mall-type clothing stores, a Mexican restaurant, a bakery, a coffee shop, a sushi bar, a bank with an ATM and tourist shops. Definetley not representative of Mexican culture, but a nice escape to get that "back home" feeling for an hour or so.
Go there if you must, but also visit downtown Puerto Vallarta and Bucerias to the the north to experience true shopping and culture in Mexico.
