“great as expected”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 30, 2013

we have been timeshare owners with Villa del palmar since 1997...never disappointed .. great people and management. We take turns staying at the older one in Puerto Vallarta and this one. We have stayed at Cabo twice and not been a fan of that one tho. We would highly recommend either of these two.

The first thing we experienced upon arrival to the hotel was a very nice and smiling welcome, and every one at the door willing to help answering any question.
We got cool wet towels for everyone while we were checking in and a free back massage as sampling of their spa's services.
Cesar, the registration desk manager, provided an excellent service with our request. Since we have had booked four rooms, we wanted all of them toguether and communicated.
He managed to accomplish this and we had a very happy start right on the first minutes out of our one week vacation. Thank you Cesar!

Also all the employees are very cheerfull and very attentive and willing to help any time.
We called one time to help on a loocked door and the maintenance technician arrived very quick.
The rooms were very clean, all in there working perfect.

Overall we got a very happy vacation, zero complains from our 14 persons group.
I consider this an oustanding achievement for Flamingos and still as my favorite place to stay at Vallarta.

We have stayed at Flamingo's many, many times but never with children. This year we took 4 children ranging in ages from 6-12 and rented a 1 bedroom and studio unit. As always, we were greeted by the wonderful bellman at the front desk. Always welcoming and happy to see us. Check in was a little slow and honestly not too friendly, but that is nothing new either. Due to the fact that we used our Premier membership and not our Gold membership we were not allowed to have the discount card for the resort, somewhat understandable but not appreciative of their members for sure. We had requested a certain room as we have previously and as previously were not able to have it. Still, our room was beautiful 1209AB and actually worked out better. The only negative was that at night we could hear a little critter outside of our room chirping the entire night. We had two children in the studio, 2 in the murphy bed in the living room and my husband and me in the 1 bedroom portion. Worked perfectly.

Our game plan was to go to the Mega store which is approximately 1 mile away (easy walking distance without 4 children) and load up and that is what we did. The bellmen are always happy to help you load everything out of the taxi and up to your room. The rooms have the bare necessities to cook and I did find myself wishing I had a few items but we made it through. Cooked almost all meals in our rooms and the kids loved it; eggs, pancakes, sandwiches, smoothies, smoothies, smoothies and lots of tacos. Did have pizza and frenchfries at poolside on a few days. Kids have to have their frenchfries and they were $6 per plate. Pizza is quite reasonable and very good. Picked up a few essentials from the on site store but their prices are very high.

About the 3rd day in we realized that the activities staff actually had a schedule of activities for the kids. They absolutely had a blast. Maria and Johnny have so much patience and the kids basicly stalked them the entire time! We went to a show that was being held in the dinner lounge and the kids danced with the crew at the end and it made the kids day! The kids played games and did crafts. Also have a cookie making day for which the resort charges $6 per day, that is just ridiculous.

The housekeeping crew does an amazing job. We totally trashed our room and they came in and spiffed it all up in no time. One day she did not make it in until around 3:30pm but made up for it by creating animals out of the towels, made my Granddaughter's day.

Pool was beautiful but really needed to have a little more cleaning. Looking underwater with goggles is not pretty. They also throw chlorine out where the children are swimming and sitting, does not seem the safest.

Transportation is a little rough with 4 children as the safety standards in Mexico are not up to par and taxis equipped to handle a family of 6 and also seat belts became difficult. We often times had to take 2 taxi's and that was quite spendy. Left the resort 3 times and cost us a minimum of $100 on taxi's alone.

Spent most of our time at the pool but also spent time on the beach. You must purchase one of the pineapples from the vendors on the beach. They are delicious, $7.00 and loaded with fruit. A MUST! Our girls had their hair braided right in front of the resort for $20 each, she did a good job but not alot of choice of beads. Check with the concierge, the DelMar resort which is about 1 hour down the beach does a turtle release that is amazing. The kids loved it.

The resort brings in a seal on Tuesday's at 1 and quite fun to watch do his thing in the pool.

The most annoying part of the trip is the poolchair issue. If you do not go down and lay your belongings on chairs before 10am you will not have a chair to sit on. I had to ask and tip someone to get a chair (one chair) and that is all we had the entire week (1 chair). There are signs and statements made that the belongings will be removed but I did not see that happen.

All in all, a fabulous trip. Cannot wait to go back without 4 kids!

Room Tip: All rooms are pretty good!

We've stayed at this hotel 5 times and it never disappoints. We got amazing front ocean view this time and it was great to go to sleep and wake up to the waves/ocean sound. The staff is friendly and the hotel is very clean. There's plenty of activities to do at the hotel for families with young children or those who just want to relax and not venture outside the hotel. The area is very safe as there is a 24/7 guard security upon entering the hotel area as well as at the hotel. The pool is ideal for young children as well as for older children since it's not deep. There is a little market on the premises that is very convenient for "last" minute things as the prices are more steep than at the Mega. The Spa is awesome!!! The beach is also very nice as it is clean and the waves are not as big, it's a good beach for kids. The only reason I don't rate this hotel with 5 stars is due to their time share propaganda. I continue to find this annoying as they want to "hook" you into doing their time share tour within 10 minutes of walking into the hotel.

Room Tip: Book early to get the best room.

From the bellmen-esp. Luis, front desk staff (Kimberley, Odilla/ Ivan) to the great beach/poolside service from Cristobal and Jorge, our trip felt like we were king and queen for a day! The room was beautiful, clean and sunset views unbeatable. Go, go, go! All inclusive is great for 1st time visits, then try some of the local restaurants.

My family and I have been traveling around for a while, and have been to multiple hotels, but have NEVER been treated as good as we have at Villa del Palmar Flamingos. The service provided was excellent, from the gardeners to the maids. Everyone was so quick to help, especially the bell boys. Luis, the captain of bell boys, Alonso and Antonio, both bell boys as well, were the best. Kind hearted and hard workers. They have definitely made my family and I reconsider coming back to this hotel.

Room Tip: The suites are extremely comfy and are there for a good deal. You can get to the pool and ocean way...
