“The views...stunning. The service...not so much.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 9, 2013

My father-in-law owns an elite level membership and brought us for New Years. The property is absolutely wonderful. Finishes are top-notch, the spa is luxurious, and the setting is wonderful if you're looking for a relaxing beach getaway. The area is safe and a long walk or short cab ride away from many restaurants in either Bucerias or Paradise Village. But if you want more things to do in your immediate surroundings then look for someplace else.

There were some significant service-related issues that caused the overall experience to fall short of the first class accommodations. They include:
-We attended a $112/plate New Years Eve dinner/celebration. The promotional posters and flyers were misleading in implying that brunch on New Years Day was included. Instead, our group of 10 showed up the next morning to find this was not the case, even though even a concierge had confirmed it the night before. I'm not sure we even received an apology, not to mention any sort of consideration for their mistake.
-We had several issues with duplicate charges for drinks, wifi, etc (some of which arose after we had paid our bills in full), as well as bogus honor bar charges. Whereas most places would give customers the benefit of the doubt, one family member had to pay again for drinks that had been already paid for, because the hotel wouldn't let the taxi leave for the airport until the charges were cleared.
-While the concierges genuinely wanted to be helpful, they often didn't have consistent information. Waiters gave us grief for trying to use free drink tickets at the restaurant (even though they didn't list any restrictions), There was nothing efficient about any aspect of their business.

Bottom Line: Many things to love, but a resort of this caliber (in terms of accommodations, location, and price) shouldn't have so many issues with service.

Room Tip: Can't really go wrong with any. Obviously the better views are closer to the ocean, but they all...

Great, warm pools. Nice clean beach. Fantastic food. Great service (especially David at the bell desk and Alejandro by the pool.) Only complaint is that the sheets and pillow cases were stained and the pillows were lumpy. Otherwise, a great place to stay in Nuevo Vallarta. Highly recommended!

PS Everything in the fridge (water, sodas, beer, wine) is part of the "honor bar" and not part of the all-inclusive. Also, additional tax on honor bar items is approx. 50% of price listed in honor bar menu.

This was our second stay at Christmas time and overall was a good experience. At the front desk Alex and Liliana were very helpful and professional. Our two bedroom suite was comfortable and well equipped and had a good view. The swimming pool is excellent and is kept very clean,as are the grounds. Having both a sandy beach and a heated pool is a real plus.Food is average and, with drinks, is somewhat overpriced. With Bucerias adjacent that's not a problem as there is lots to choose from there and for groceries to bring back to the room the nearby Mega supermarket is convenient.
Now for the downside, and we're not just talking about the timeshare scum. The resort management has a rule that says lounge chairs around the pool can not be reserved but every morning you can see the same people putting towels on the chairs and then going back to their rooms. Often they will tie up seven or eight chairs in a row. Occasionally you will see a staff member go and remove the towels only to have the same person come down from their room, obtain new ones, and put them down again. The staff member at that point does nothing. These people may not occupy these chairs for hours and meanwhile those people who follow the rules come down only to find that nothing is available. Management is catering to the ignorant minority by allowing this.
If you do get a seat by the pool be prepared for the chain smokers to enforce their rights by having their odour float over everyone else, including small children. Again management is allowing the minority, often the same people who had reserved chairs,to inflict their boorish behavior on the majority.
Mr. General Manager,if you read this, please take control!

Room Tip: Rooms on the north side get a lot more sunshine.Ask for the fifth floor or higher to be able to see...

My husband and I stayed here over New Years and had a wonderful time. This is our 2nd stay and last year we bought into the Villa Group. We love the nice warm pools and the beautiful beach. We walked into Bucerias and spent the day and ate at some of the restaurants which are wonderful. One day we walked to the Paradise Village Plaza and what a walk it was. It was a great time and then we walked back and went swimming in the pool after we got back.

This is a great hotel, but a little far from town. You can take a bus down town, but you have to transfer at the Maritime Terminal. Not a big deal. You can also stop at the Marina Vallarta instead if you wanted and then go into town. Relatively inexensive compared to taking a taxi.

If I could improve my vacation it would be to have an all inclusive plan available without alchohol. We do not drink and find the all inclusive plan of $89 USD per day too expensive It does not make sense financially. It would be cheaper for us to book an all inclusive package with another hotel after we pay for airfare and our maintenance fees. It makes owning a time share here not worth the money which I am sure is not their intention.

Overall we love the Villa Group and look forward to the expansion of the Villa Group of hotels in the years to come.

Book your excursions on line as it is still much cheaper than the deal they give you if you go to the owners update.

The hospitality suite is great as you can access free Wifi, however I think we should also be able to have free Wifi in the lobby and the coffee shop at the Palmita market as well since lots of other hotels do and it doesn't seem to be a problem.

I thought the market in Cabo had a much better selection of food and items for order and a better place to sit and eat, maybe Flamingos would consider opening a nicer, trendier cafe?

We had a great Christmas vacation to this resort. It was very clean and the grounds were nicely manicured. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would definitely go again! Luis, Antonio, and Juan the Bellmen were great! The spa was very nice! The medical staff was friendly and helpful when I threw my back out! Food was good! The concierge was extremely friendly and helpful. The location from the airport perfect!

The Villa Del Palmar Flamingo resort is an amazing place. My family of 4, (myself, wife, son 27, daughter 24,) stayed from Dec 4th through the 11th. We opted for the 2 bedroom suite all inclusive. The rooms were perfect for us. Big and roomy as was the balcony. Beautiful views of the pool and the ocean.

All of the items we ordered off of the menu were excellent. We felt like we never had a bad or average meal. My wife and me have stayed at all inclusives before and have found the food to be average. Not on our trip to Flamingo's. The food was outstanding, but as good as the food was, the service was even better. Jorge and Ronaldo in paticular were outstanding. They were very friendly and we enjoyed talking with them.

My son and me also enjoyed great relationships with the Bellmen. I immediately appreciated Antonio for his professionalism and his recommendations. David recommended the Vista Grill one night and it was amazing. We also enjoyed taliking with Joel and Luis about the Pacquoi, Marquez fight. They recommended we go into Bucerias and watch the fight at Yo Yo Mas which we did. It was a great night for the fights and we appreciated spending time with the locals supporting their fighter. The bellmen were a great group of men who did a great job for the Flamingo's and at the same time treated us as friends. We truly appreciated them and their friendship.

We also had a great 10 hour fishing trip with Angel Alonso Ruz and his boat the "Anis". We caught our live bait as to fish for Marlin and we caught a 9ft, approx 200lb, black marlin. It was an amazing experience.

All four of us spent time at the spa and had a 3 hour service. Once again, all of the therapists and the front desk did an amazing job making us feel like we were on a pampered vacation.

I would definitely go back to Flamingos and cannot think of any part of our stay that was negative in any way. I did read many negative reviews on the timeshare salesmanship, but we opted not to spend our time that way, so there was no problem. We were on vacation.

Thank you Flamingo's for an amazing family vacation and many great memories.

Room Tip: We had room 1509 a and b. I loved the views and the sunset.

We've just returned from a week spending Xmas with extended family at the Flamingos. This is the third all inclusive hotel experience we've had and, by far, the best.

The resort is beautiful, sooo CLEAN...like spotless! The staff are friendly, especially Alex, our poolside server.

The breakfast buffet is great ( but lacking in bacon) and the poolside food is decent. The choices at the Italian restaurant are limited and a bit hit and miss. One night I ordered fish with a mushroom and nut tapenade and it arrived without any...just fish. It was still tasty but not what I ordered. The Mexican restaurant has more choices but it's definitely got room for improvement, most of the food is fairly tasteless. Dinner service is very slow and often appetizers arrive at the same time as main courses. Our waiter, Jesus, did a fancy Mexican coffee show for us the last night with flaming tequila...fun :)

The rooms are the best I've ever stayed in...huge, fairly comfy beds, large patios, two bathrooms in the one bedroom suite, a tub...it worked well for our family of four. The room had a slightly musty smell but I think that's due to the humidity, it was worst in the kitchen cabinets and we felt the need to wash the cups before using them to get the smell off. LOVE having a washer and dryer in the room! My brother had the two bedroom with a view over the water and a hot tub...pretty ritzy!

As others have stated, stay away from the time share presentations. We managed to avoid it entirely, even thought they called our room a couple of times to try to convince us to get our "welcome package". My dad had a terrible time getting them to leave him alone after my mom originally agreed to do the tour. It says right in their literature that they can't sign up anyone older than 70 ( which both my folks are) but they still pestered them...not a good start to their trip! When will they realise that positive reviews will sell the place way better than pressure sales?!?
