We were there in early August and we just loved it! We were looking for a relaxing place and found it to be the correct spot. There is no loud music playing and is pretty quiet during the day, only the sound of the ocean to relax. The infinity pool was great, we spent a lot of time sunbathing and reading, the wait staff was very attentive and provided is with enough drinks to keep us happy. The service in general was outstanding and staff was extremely helpful with what ever you needed. We had a fabulous time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend this resort to couples who are looking to spend quiet time together and relax. You will definitely come back rejuvenated

If you want your entire trip to be spent being hustled by time share sales people, this is the place for you. First of all, they have at least 3 sales people try to convince you, every time trying to sweeten the deal. When we decided it was not for us they were terribly rude which makes me believe if that's how they market their facility, how good could their service be? They clearly stumbled when we asked about reselling the timeshare if we were to buy it and it was clear they had no interest in helping you once they had suckered you into buying and had counted up their commissions.

Honestly their facitliy is nowhere near as nice as the other options in Puerto Vallarta. If you are interested in a time share look elsewhere. Their rooms reeked and the pool was quite sad for a place like PV. The restaurant service was indifferent as well.

They promised lunch which consisted of a soggy quesadilla and they actually made us pay for the extra guacamole we asked for (which the salesperson happily helped herself to!) - of course they only gave us the bill AFTER the presentation was over and we decided not to fall for their lousy scam, even though we had finished eating 2 hours before!

I hope they go out of business due to their extremely unprofessional attitude. Stay at the Villa del Mar next door (or if you fell compelled to buy a timeshare)- it was much better facility, service, nicer staff, restaurant, a night and day difference from Playa hell hole (sorry Playa del sol)

Facts:
Playa del SOl Grande is located in the middle of NO WHERE
No public transportation
Only a few cabs all of which have prices jacked up because they have monopoly because hotel is so isolated.
Only two restaurants, both over priced
AC did not work
Hot tub did not work

We purchased one week per year which was one of the worst mistakes of our life! Sales pressure was the worst we have ever experienced.
When we expressed that we were not interested we were promised the benefits of two travel clubs along with burn weeks and 50 breakaway that have proven to be totally worthless.
WE have tried to trade it, sell it, all to no avail.
We have hired an attorney and are in the process of filing a class action lawsuit against PLaya del Sol.
DON"T MAKE THE MISTAKE WE DID!

We just returned from PVR where we stayed a Playa Del Sol Grand from Aug 4 through August 11. The place at first looks good, but the problems were countless. Here are some of them: The one bedroom suite sliding doors were not working and I n one week after numerous calls, it was till inoperative when we left. The pullout bed was terrible. The kids could not sleep all night so we had to switch with them. It was dirty and smelly. The bed had a smell of trapped humidity that would prevent us from sleeping all night. The springs were popped up so they protruded through the thin foam mattress. The pillows also had a terrible smell as well and despite using perfumes and colognes, the smell would not go away. Additionally there was no coffeemaker in the room and when I requested one, they sent me an old one that had fungus growing inside of it. They did not take that one back for four days. The staff was very friendly but they did not have any thing to take care of their customers with. It seemed to me that they wanted to do what was right but simple did not have the necessary means to do so. Our room was on the 4th floor and some how cockroaches had found their way in. After complaints they fumigated the area and the hallways but that did not help. There is not enough of any thing in this place. The pool is dirt and very small _ for example, at night the pool lights did not work so we could not see the kids and therefore did not allow them to use the pool. The restaurant is also terrible. The Palm Terrace, which is their classy place, had awful food. Their soups and fish were burnt and when we asked for a new mahi mahi which cost $25.00, they just brought the same one back. The La Bella is even worse. I can make better spaghetti then them. I cannot understand what impressed some of the people who wrote their reviews on this site. I strongly suggest to those folks to try other places and they will see the difference. We always stay at the next-door place called Villa Del Palmar Flamingo and if you stayed there then you can appreciate what true service, cleanliness, and facility is. At the Playa Del Sol, there was pressure to join their time share but my answer was simple that I would not stay there for free let alone buy into the damn place. Do not ruin your vacation and stay some place else.
