Bel Air Resorts & Spa', A Wonderful Stay

We spent the last week of February 2015 at the Bel Air Resort and must say it was a pleasurable experience. What made our trip so special was the best staff ever. From Carlos, the General Manager, to Elizabeth, the Assistant Manager, to all the waiters: Roberto, Eduardo, Moises, Carlos (bar) and Adrian at the excellent sushi restaurant,(to name a few), they did their utmost to make us happy. They were friendly, attentive to any concerns we may have had, and lots of fun!
The hotel is small, laid-back with a Mexican ambiance. The rooms are spotless with comfy King-size beds, and upgraded linens. The grounds are immaculate and the hotel has a koi and turtle pond, and pristine infinity pool with swim-up bar overlooking the ocean. We were delighted one day to watch 15 colorful parachute jumpers landing on the beach, right before our eyes. You must get up very early to ensure you get a lounge chair by the pool.
In the afternoons, the hotel offers tea and addictive sugar cookies. Later, you can toast the spectacular sunsets with a glass of bubbly! There is no night entertainment, unless you make it happen, but we did enjoy watching a couple of Mexican beach weddings.
You can explore your surroundings by reserving bikes or walking. Bucerias (a charming town with flea market, silver, Mexican artisans, and an abundance of restaurants) can be accessed by cab (80 pesos, approx. $6) or 30 min. walk on the beach, or walking path in front of the hotel. Very safe.
The wi-fi connection can be intermittent ( you can buy a calling card for $15 from the tour guides), you will eventually get thru, and the hotel is “working on it”. But hey, this a perfect hotel to just chill out and enjoy a slower pace of life. We highly recommend the hotel and exceptional staff who are always there to make your stay wonderful.

Jerry, Whitby, Ontario

Room Tip: Ocean view suite or rooms overlooking the koi/turtle pond.

Great hotel with amazing food and service in a very safe environment. The hotel is perfect for families. Only thing i would not recommend: DO NOT get a standard room, because these ones are tiny and don't have an ocean view. Other than that you can do nothing wrong with the hotel. Highly recommendable!!

Room Tip: The hotel is great, just pay a little extra for a studio room, since the standard rooms are pretty t...

This hotel lacks proper management. After booking a five night stay we shorten it to a 2 night stay. The hotel is off the grid far from any activities. The first room we stayed at had black mold in the restroom and when we were transferred to another room they were working on the elevator so we carried down our luggage only to find out that the new room was two doors down. Who works on maintaining an elevator during rush hour (check out time11-12)? The pool area is also falling apart tiles are missing so be careful. A guest fell while we were in the pool and other guest had more of a sense of urgency to help the hurt guest then any of the staff. DONT get me started on the FOOD and so called sushi or the Wifi only available 3feet from the check in desk!!!

Room Tip: Do not Go here!

My friends cell phone was stolen and the investigation was a joke!!! Many cover-ups and lies and Mr. Carlos Dominguez never steps out of his meeting room to deal with the public when issues such as this arise. We made appointments only to find that the managers were in "meetings". Not a fun way to spend a holiday. The resort itself is undergoing renovations but not conducive to enjoying some meals in your condo. Poor kitchen equipment including pots and pans, old refrigerators and stoves. No ovens are being installed in the new units only 2 burner stove. Meals are terrible at the main restaurant so your left with going out to other restaurants. The only saving grace with this hotel is its location. Beautiful beach, grounds and great surfing. Oh yes, forget the wifi.

Great location. Nice people. Great pool. Great beach (sitting on and enjoying and for long walks in 2 directions). Short taxi rides to most of the great restaurants in the area. Wouldn't stay anywhere else.

The only disappointment was that we had no Internet. Our stay was fabulous. We had a beautiful room overlooking the ocean as we requested. We enjoyed the pool and spa and found the staff to be very courteous. Any request we had was promptly looked after. Thank you very much for everything!! We loved our stay at BelAir and will come back again

We had a great vacation. The staff at the resort were very polite and helpful. Service at the pool was really amazing even though the staff were run off their feet often by the crowd that came for spring break! We had many relaxing walks along the beach, and moonlit dinners at the resort and many surrounding restaurants. Pool was heated and everything really clean. Daily specials on drinks. Activities including beach and pool volleyball just to name a few. Karoke at the upstairs bar on Fridays. And always a wedding or two on the beach on weekend nights complete with spectacular fireworks. Walking to Buscerias was also a highlight- if you go don't miss stopping at Melley Bay for their ribs and Rosa's for seafood... and did I mention the mariachi bands?
