“Great Value, average food and service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 weeks ago

We stayed for 4 nights in July 2014

Location: This is located in Nuevo Vallarta which is 30 mins and $30 by taxi from Puerto Vallarta. This can get quite expensive if you plan to go to PV often but not so bad if you stay in NV

Service: Hit or miss. We had some excellent service from Marlene, Selena and Pancho but terrible service from some of the check in staff (Antonio). On the first day, we were put in a room right next to generator of the hotel next door. We complained about the noise but were only offered 2 other rooms by Antonio with the same proximity to the generator and were told none others were available. During the next shift, Selena graciously shifted us in a much quieter room.

Food: The food was decent but not authentic Mexican. Most of the snack bar were just fried, the breakfast buffet was decent, the sushi was terrible (yup....cream cheese in every roll). We had opted for the all inclusive but ended up eating next door at Villa del Palmar and in Buserias or PV as often as possible.

Amenities: The pool was an adequate size with a swim up bar. Most of the staff were very accommodating and helpful. There is a tendency to play blasting music on the loudspeakers all day so less focus on R&R. Probably good for families.....there were loads of kids. Since we were all adults, it was less than ideal for us but could work well for families. Wi-Fi only works in the lobby so be prepared to spend time there if you want the internet .....no Wi-Fi in the rooms.

Our stay at Bel Air was passable but I will try another resort next time.

Room Tip: Get a room in the Haramara building (should start with 2...). Close to the pool and reception and aw...

We only stayed 1 night and actually had a little trouble with the room, it wasn't worth changing rooms so we just let the management know the next day. They were very apologetic and offered cocktails and a very late check out to make up for the room issues. This is a great choice for this area, very friendly and helpful staff. Upon check in we asked for a room overlooking the sea and that wish was granted. The beach here is sandy unlike some of the beaches in Puerto Vallarta and the sunsets are gorgeous. The hotel has nightly events such as Salsa dancing, exercise classes and fiesta nights. The food was good and inexpensive with nice views from the restaurant.
Even though we had some room issues, this hotel deserves 5 stars for the service and location. It is very popular with Mexicans which give it a soft, gentle vibe whereas the hotel next door is crammed with Americans and is very noisy and it appeared that many there were quite drunk.
Want to give special acknowledgement to Antonio who met us at the entrance and took our bags, another Antonio the desk manager and Jorge, the reservations agent. All helpful, friendly and clearly wanted us to have a pleasant stay.

Room Tip: Try for a room on a top floor and with ocean view.

We had stayed at the Playa del Sol Grand a few times before and always had a great time so when Belair Collections showed up on Interval with a 2 Bedroom unit we snapped it right up. We arrived earlier in the week and stayed 5 days at the Royal Decameron before moving over to Belair. We got there around noon and check-in was quick and easy but they said our room wouldn’t be ready until after 3PM. No problem for us as we already had our suits on, so straight to the pool. The pool at Belair is the main reason we go there, right on the beach, table in the pool and a swim up bar is all that we ask for. The first day we noticed that something wasn’t right as the water level was down below the skimmers and the water was cloudy and full of crud. Come to find out they had a major leak that was causing the problem. They had a pool engineer working the problem and by the second or third day the pool was back to it crystal blue and clear. Our room was on the 5th floor of building 2 about mid courtyard but still offered a gorgeous view of the ocean and surrounding area. The room was actually a 1 bedroom master suite with and adjoining studio lock-off but it still gave us a central living area and a third bathroom. Hadn’t changed much since the Playa del Sol Grand days so it could use a little renovation but still more than we needed or expected. I’m guessing that the Hotel side is in better shape since that appears to be their business plan. We don’t cook much on vacation but do warm up leftovers for snacks. Belair is the only place we’ve stayed that had an oven in the stove and we used it to re-heat pizza a couple of times. Since we have be coming to Nuevo Vallarta the past 7 years and have more favorite places to eat than we have time to re-visit, so we didn’t try either of the Belair’s restaurants. We did eat lunch at Shipwreck Kelley’s and it was as good as before. We’re not the Sushi/Martini type anyway and it didn’t appear that the Palm Terrace had the breakfast buffet like before, so went off resort for all meals. After 7 years you get to know the area well enough that a rental car is not a concern to worry about. So we’re comfortable hopping in the car and going our favorite places. If we’re planning on drinking we take a cab. Low spot of the trip was when three huge busses pulled up and dumped 3 soccer teams on us. The place filled up with kids and families and our peaceful little resort got loud and crazy. We knew they were going to be full the final 3 nights but didn’t think it would be that loud. Kids were running around the resort until almost midnight with very little parental control. And that was during the day also. It didn’t spoil the trip but didn’t add any value also. Service was the main thing we noticed, staff was working constantly keeping the area and rooms clean and we had the best bar service ever. So good that I had to award a Trip Advisor Excellent Service Award pin to one of the Bartenders, Aramano Rios, we had a full glass at all times and you should have seen him work the kids, great effort Armando, Belair should be proud of you. All in all it was another great stay at a small little resort with the best pool in Vallarta, squeezed in between two giant resorts. We would come back again if we get the opportunity.

When we weren't on the beach or in the pool, we spent a lot of time sitting on our balcony overlooking the beach and pool, and the abundant palm trees. We made use of the kitchenette and ate all our breakfasts and most lunches sitting on the balcony. Even though the weather was hot, there was always a nice breeze at this hotel--coming in off the water. They also have air-conditioning to use, as needed.

The housekeeping staff was very good.

I can't give it a five star rating, because the rooms themselves are showing wear and tear. We had to call maintenance to open the sliding doors. The utensils in the kitchen were old. They replaced a non-working coffee maker for us. I didn't bother to call them back to replace the non-working toaster.

Still, I would be tempted to come back again, because we liked the general ambiance of this hotel--the combination of its small, non-bombastic size, its palapa covered beach, the pool, and the fact that there were a lot of Mexican guests.

Took a chance on booking somewhere new, for a getaway to recover from a brutal winter, in more ways than one. We were looking for a small establishment, with a personal touch. Not a fan of the large all inclusive. This was an Interval International Booking.
We were met right away by Trinadad! Such a lovely man, who never forgets your name. The lobby is inviting, as are the staff. My hope was for an ocean view and we were not disappointed. The one bedroom suit, drops three steps down, into a kitchen/living room with a large wrap around deck. The view, breathtaking.
It was at this point, my husband opened his suitcase to discover someone else's things. Tony, the resort manager, was there to save the day and drove my husband back to the airport. This is the kind of service we received through out the week.
The staff at Shipwreck Island snack bar were always attentive. Vincent is extremely hard working. Always serving, and cleaning. The pool staff, the same, even despite the odd rude costumer.
Can't say enough about the service in the restaurant. Our waiter, Gama, was always there to see to our needs, and make sure we are happy. We tried several things on the menu, and found it quite diverse.
Our room was always cleaned beautifully with special touches. The bed was very comfortable, which is very important to me. A maid always delivered goodies to our room at tea time. This was all despite the fact, that we didn't tip her until the end of the week.
We are now here for our second week and looking forward to more of the same.
Thank you, Bel Air Nuevo Vallarta!

Booked this through groupon. Asked for an ocean view room, but ended up getting an upgraded room with a garden view so i couldn't complain. There aren't very many strictly ocean view rooms to begin with. The check in process was nice, as we were greeted with mimosa's and friendly staff. The all inclusive food was pretty bland, and the alcoholic drinks were weak, but these are both expected at most all inclusives. They will try to get you to go to a seminar type thing where you can get some freebies, but in reality it is trying to get you to buy a timeshare. So anytime they ask you just ask where it is and say you will be there, but don't show up. Unless of course you want a timeshare. They usually have pool and beach activities everyday which are fun. The beach volleyball rocks!

First of... I own a vacation membership, so I get to visit the bel air hotels a lot... That being said, this property gets better every year... Besides getting to see the same faces every year, which makes the place like your house, the service is a bit better every time...

If only, I had a burger for room service and it was burned... Not tasty at all... Other than that... The service is fast and the food very good...

What can I say... Already planning to go back!
