i would like to upload my view and noise pollution... lets just say .. in a year or 2 may be very lovely... but until then stay away unless you want to feel like you are in a construction zone with jackhammering, welding and pouring concrete 5 feet from your window!!!!!!

Owners for 15 yrs. Started as a Mayan owner and upgraded to the Grand Mayan!! The more money you spend the worse they treat you!! We are in a process of selling our timeshare. The construction noise was unbelievable from 9am till after 7pm. Our room flooded and I slipped and fell and issued a written complain but no one called to check on the room or us. It took over half for someone to respond to the call and they sent 2 security guards instead of maintenance. We had to use our bath towels to try to absorb some of the water. It was leaking thru out the hallway and water coming out of the ceiling fixtures!!!
Also chamber maid walks in the room at night without knocking on the door while you are in bed!!

Room Tip: Do not stay there!!!

Was there 2/22/13 to 3/8/13. Experienced the same problems as Greg0201 and Jasperdoodle. Guests to all the resorts are given different colored wristbands which serve as door cards and also to identify you as the poor relatives at the resorts. You are not allowed anyplace else; Grand Mayan, Grand Bliss or Grand Luxx pools or rec areas if you have the Mayan Palace wristband. However, guests at the other resorts are allowed to use MP pool which is very nice. You are allowed into restaurants/bars, but several times we were given less than good service since we had MP wristbands.Because the restrooms at MP pool were out of service for several days and we complained, we were given Grand Mayan wristbands and service and attitude did improve at that point. I agree with previous reviews that they appear to want to up- sale guests. I am a MP owner for 8 yrs now and will probably not return to a Mayan Palace again. Will use it for trading on RCI. When we checked in, we overheard another guest complaining about the noise and dust, so when we found out we were close to his room, we requested another suite at the other end of the building. It helped some, but not a lot. I will say that the rooms were nice and were cleaned each day.

If you are reading this I urge you to reconsider your vacation at this resort since it has been the most unfortunate traveling experience of our vacation destinations. Beware that this is a Hotel-Time share destination and you will be hounded into their alleged 90 minute hard sales pitch, If you get Cynthia to welcome you at the Time share location don't be deceived by her looks, she is the front person handling the sales floor who should have never had been put on that position to begin with since her skills with the public are not only lacking but she possibly never had the college education or at least a high-school degree to show manners when dealing with tourist just arriving at the property, I would ask to be switched or change dates on your appointment if she is there as she is rude and self-entitled.
We had gotten this last minute reservation thru our RCI points after not liking our hotel at the time after our arrival, RCI forgot to advise us that the availability at this resort came with perks… a nonstop Jackhammer starting at 9:00a.m. till 7:00pm. Checkin in the hotel took us 3 hours because they couldn't even find the reservation even though I came with all papers confirmations and emails at hand for our two bedroom "Master Suite". The attentive and most professional employee at the property (besides Louise from Canada our concierge) was Jennifer, unfortunately she was powerless to help with our reservation and her manager Alejandro made himself scarce during our 3 hour check in. After the wait Jennifer got us a one bedroom, after I had made it clear to them that my reservation indicated two rooms in the email that i had just forwarded to her with my iPhone and in the paper print out that she herself printed.. After 3 hours she proceeded to put us on a one bedroom, I had to come down and ask for Alejandro since she couldn't even face me because she knew what she had done and no one had helped her correct the error, after 3 hours I was up to my limit, Alejandro diligently put us in our 2 bedroom always claiming that it wasn't their mistake. Why on earth would Jennifer had sent me to a one bedroom knowingly without letting us know beforehand? that was just unacceptable, Why didn't Alejandro stepped up before sending us to the one bedroom?. Still no sympathy or even offering of a glass of water after the 3 hour ordeal of waiting in an open space lobby wearing beachwear at 57 degrees. Alejandro kept his attitude at all times as if he was doing us a favor. Come next morning after having the worst sleep ever on the hardest beds they could have possibly find and been awaken thru the night by water gushing thru the pipe system in our bathroom like a monsoon was passing over us, we had the most horrendous sewage smell coming out of our sinks.
The pools are heated throughout the property except if you are lucky enough to stay at the Mayan palace, not only is your pool not heated, you are not allowed to use any of the 5 or 6 other pools but only the one at the Sea Garden which is a mile walk with no transportation. There were door to door trolly services to every property except the "Majestic" Mayan Palace. The beach was the ugliest beaches I have ever visited in Mexico (this been my 6 time visiting first time Puerto Vallarta), the beach chairs were in terrible shape, incredibly dirty and worn out. The whole separation of the hotel system by class made me feel like I was at the Titanic with a guaranteed sinking at time of check in. Also you would be charged for $90 fee for wifi only free at the Bliss lobby and a $30 parking weekly fee if you rent a car. At the time of checkout I kindly complained to Alejandro, asking why wasn't anything offered to the guest with all of the turmoil of the construction and the discontent of every single visitor we met, he had the audacity to tell me that I was notified about the construction before hand and that I could have left the property at the time of check in, ignorance can sometimes be brave, I turned around and heatedly and passionately asked every guest at the lobby if they had been advised of the the construction at the time of reservation to which I got a collective heated response from everyone "NO", I also asked have they even offered anything in sympathy to anyone for having to put up with this ordeal, everyone responded NO again. We weren't asking for our money back or a blood donation, just simply a gesture to alleviate the horror of our vacation. If Allejandro is the property manager of your hotel, good luck he has the understating and charm for the business of a Chinese noodle. There are many beautiful parts to this properties, landscapes, decor and restaurants. If Puerto Vallarta is your destination, venture out on your own to Punta mitas and Sauyalito the most beautiful bohemian towns in all of vallarta. The Grand Mayan Fiasco….

Arrived at Mayan Palace in Dec 2012 for a two week stay. Very large resort with lots of work still being undertaken. We were offered an accomodation upgrade to a double room at Grand Mayan for my husband and myself but as my son was due to join us for our second week we chose to stay in the suite we had booked. Although there was a lot of work going on around it was not intrusive and hardly disturbed us at all. The grounds are beautiful and the swimming pool also. The beach is clean with plenty of sunbeds and staff on hand to help if needed. Also staff from poolside bar on segways riding around to take orders/deliver refreshments. Staff were very friendly and helpful and we did not have any problems during our stay. Plenty of restaurants to eat, some more expensive than others but good quality food and service. It is a growing resort and they are trying to sell but we did not find their approach aggressive at all - just be strong and say no. Attending a presentation garnered us a free breakfast, two free trips, 10% off all resort spend and 10% off the two diving trips my husband booked- not bad for losing a morning. Access to other hotel pools is restricted but this did not bother us as the pool at the mayan is lovely but for families it might be restrictive as the pool activity for children (flumes etc) is at Grand Mayan. Only drawback was that insufficient resort info available. We spent first week finding our own way around. Some of the facilities were not available yet or being refurbished and even the staff were not sure of what was /was not available or where it was situated.

Room Tip: Not all rooms are seafacing but the views over the grounds are nice despite the current work going o...

The first two impressions I had of this place were..WOW, what a nice resort (rooms, grounds and pools) and WOW, what a lot of construction. The resort has four hotels, Grand Mayan (best pool), the Grand Bliss, the Grand Luxxe (very high end) and the Mayan Palace. Each hotel has its own pool and they don't allow the Mayan Palace folks to use the other pools. I have stayed at the Grand Mayan before and the rooms at the Mayan Palace are similar. The rooms (one bedroom) are large, comfortably furnished, have a kitchen and are extremely clean. The grounds are very well maintained with lots of vegetation. The fresh water lagoons have a crocodile or two in them! We tried a few of the restaurants in the various hotels on the property and were quite impressed with the quality of food. There are a few restaurants outside of the property within walking distance as well. There is a small grocery store on the property with high prices but it was convenient. A taxi into Puerto Vallarta was about $20 or 200 pesos.

The beach at the resort is fine and makes for a nice long walk.

They are renovating one of the Mayan Palace buildings and are building new Grand Luxxe buildings. The noise from the Mayan Palace renovations was very loud...think jack hammer loud. So, if you are staying in the other Mayan Palace building get a room on the far side away from the construction. Construction noise starts at 9:00am and goes until 7:00 pm weekdays. I think on Saturday and Sunday the noise was from 9:00 until 1:00pm. If you are out and about the resort area we got used to the noise after a day or two and it turned into background noise.

Beware of the staff getting you to sign up for a timeshare breakfast/presentation.

Just returned from the Mayan Palace, NV. Stayed 3/1-3/8/2013. Be aware this is Part of the Grupo Vidanta resorts and have many hotel brands onsite...Grand Mayan, Grand Bilss, Grand Luxx and Mayan Palace. It seems they are getting rid of the MP brand and want to upgrade you to one of the newer highend brands. At Checkin they hand you over to a resort specialist, code for Timeshare salesperson to try and schedule you for a TS tour. We got in late about 5pm and luckliy the tours were done for the day and they wanted us to schedule a tour first thing Saturday morning. We told her we already booked several excursions though Vallarta Adventures (at the MP they will try and give you discounts for VA's tours if you go to a TS presentation but if you book online the the rates are much cheaper than the MP supposed discounts) for the week and did not have time. After we told her we would not have the time for a Timeshare tour she basically blew us off and gave very little info about the resort and we were left to explore on our own with no maps or suggestions of how to get around the grounds.

This is a SPRAWLING resort with complex walkways, way out of the way to get ANYWHERE. You have to walk about 300 yards to get to beach, taxi stand, restaurants etc. When it came to the Shuttle service they make you feel like second class citizens and drop you at the top of the road that leads to the MP front lobby and have to walk down the path to get back to hotel while the shuttles will drop you at all the other Hotel lobby's (Grand Mayan, Bliss, Luxx etc). Why do they do this? To punish you for not taking the timeshare tour/presentation.

Next up Jackhammering from Hell from 9a.m.till 7p,m, daily except for sunday. They are demolishing the Mayan Palace buidlings. First tower is gone. second tower is gutted and jackhammering is constantly going on to level that building which is right next door to the third bulding which is where you will stay unless you take the Timeshare presentation and they will most likly upgrade you to the Grand Mayan which i've seen on other TA reviews here. We did not take the TS tour and stayed in this third building. Now I must say the Room Suites are Wonderful. Lots of space, well appointed, clean and comfy with Great Housekeeping service daily. I have no idea why they would completely knock down buildings when all it needed was perhaps a remodel. Makes No sense other than they want to build higher which is what the other resort buildings are.

The Pool.....SPECTACULAR!!! just a wonderful spot with gorgeous views leading down to the beach. Clean and bright with lots of chaise and umbrella's for everyone.

It's a long walk out of the resort. The closest Bus stand is down the road at the Seaview Garden Hotel (they do this on purpose so you will stay on site and eat there) which they suggest You take a taxi to and then take the bus. this is CRAZY. We just took taxi everywhere and was not at all expensive doing the Walmart run to load for the week or going over to the Vallarta Adventures offices. If you want to go into Puerto for the day take the taxi, about 180 pesos. Better than all the stops the bus will have to make. Go to the Mallicone section a beautiful walk along the water full of shops and restaurants. We had a beautiful sunset dinner with $1-US, Margaurita's and Corona's....perfecto!!

We did eat on site about 4 days. Pool and beach server service was great. Happy hour between 4-5pm with 2 for 1 drinks as well as special drink of the day 2 for 1 all day. Yes You will pay top dollar for food on resort but it was all very good as well as the service.

FYI-this was a timeshare swap through Interval and not owners in the Vidnata Group. Thus the stay at the Mayan Palace which they are still using, during demolition, to motivate you into a timeshare presentation and try and upgrade you to the other properties. Gave this resort a POOR rating due to the constant construction, refusal of shuttle service directly to the Mayan Palace lobby and long walks to everywhere. Otherwise it would have been an Excellent stay.
