My wife and I recently spent 10 days (Sept 22-Oct 3) at the Grand Luxxe Resort. Unfortunately, not so grand was the grounds around the hotel. The hotel rooms were great inside new and upscale and of course at check in there were no ocean views (reassured us no problem over the phone) available unless you signed up for the 90 min presentation w/breakfast and 10% discounts in resort activities etc., we got the upgrade view!! NOT! unless you like the sounds of heavy machinery (bulldozers, excavators, jackhammers etc.,) u got the idea OMG!! and don't think it stops at 5:00 p.m. some nights until 11:00 p.m. unreal thank god for my music and earphones & turn up the T.V. just to drown out the const sounds. Last but not least the 5 min cart ride at times very dusty! to and from activities you are pretty much trapped inside unless you leave the resort. We ended up transferring over to the Grand Mayan just to get away from the major construction and believe me the downgrade was a upgrade for us! Hope this helps.
