“good value for the money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 1, 2014

The hotel is small and one of the oldest in the area . We stayed for one week all inclusive in Feb.2014. Very friendly and helpful staff, clean rooms. We did not expect the moon for such reasonable rates. The young Mexican families with their well behaved kids were fun . Not so much hype and activities and very relaxing. We would go there again.
Noisy AC units are being replaced .

Room Tip: ask for tower 3 . It is a newer building and a bit higher in price. All of them face the ocean.

Stayed there for one night in Feb 2014. The room was clean with an amazing ocean view and a reasonably comfortable bed. There is loud pop music from 11 am until 10 pm on the beach and on the hotel premises. Food is clearly below average in quality and quantity, and certainly not commensurate with the price payed for the all-inclusive formula. Overall the quality for price is mediocre.

This is one of the WORST hotels I've been at in awhile. the pics on the site are not accurate, they a strategically taken to hide things. First of fee were given the crappiest room when we arrived, mold, dirt, bird crap everywhere, the stench was unbearable and this was apparently one of the best rooms. We booked a suite, we got the oldest and most disgusting thing they had to offer. Our view was the walkway to the public bathrooms and the garbage. They had nothing available for a switch until the next day, we were hopeful...the first night in the newer suite was better, but we have been woken up early each morning to hammer drilling right outside our room and horrible noises from the drains in the bathroom, not to mention the overwhelming stench of sewage each day coming up from the drains, I pray it's not the water I'm showering in. The bathtub does not work, so it's shower only even though we were promised a working bathtub. We have yet to get our floors or bathtub/shower cleaned and it's been a week. There are no towels/cloths to wash our own dishes and they don't even take away the bar dishes or glasses unless you put them on the floor...guess to prove a point. So far we have had a couple good meals and most of the staff is friendly but quite useless in helping with anything. No drinks on the beach unless you get your own in your own cups, which we did do. Food service is often late and of course the same thing. The woman's public bathroom has been clean so far which is great. I have actual pictures to post once I am home but I am unfortunately booked in here for another awful 2 weeks. The dinner you should receive once a week at the supposed specialty restaurant is only once per stay and is nothing more than a tablecloth and candles. I wouldn't ever recommend this place to anyone. In fact many guests we visited with checked out right away to find something better....2 stars is lucky if you ask me. The only redeeming quality is the bartender who is great and the beautiful beach, it is stunning and the only thing as of my first week in I can safely say was accurate in the hotel description. The hotel is also overrun by locals and their children, many, many children, so beware. Not the place to go relax. Their is a restaurant called Napoli that is really close and really good, as well as a little flea market on the weekend...oh and I can't forget elbarracuda, great pace friendly staff and good food. Good luck if you're already booked in and if not I suggest looking elsewhere. I will update my review next week...fingers crossed something might improve.

Room Tip: Don't get a bedroom suite! The higher the floor the better

I stayed at week at Villa Varadero in Sept. and had a most pleasant, delightful stay. I was upgraded to an oceanview room that was basic, but with a wonderful view.. The stretch of beach (next to the Nuevo Marina) is very nice, clean and one can walk a good distance for exercise. The hotel is small, clean and well run. I had no problems at all with any of the staff, in fact they were all very helpful and accommodating. For convenience and because it was very inexpensive, I took the AI plan and had no problems with the food. The breakfast is great with fresh fruit, an omelet station, pancakes, yogurt, hot chocolate on some mornings, etc. I ate lunch on the beach at the grill(hamburgers, nachos, etc.) and usually had a very light dinner. Nothing is gormet, but I certainly had plenty to eat when I wanted it. With a 3 night stay you get a dinner especial which was very good ... a table was set up on the beach for me complete with wine. I do not care for the restaurant area because it reminds me of an American public school cafeteria(plastic chairs/tables), but there are outside tables and the waiters had no problem serving me outside for breakfast and dinner. There are several restaurants within walking distance so one can eat out if wanted. The pool is divided into three areas and meanders across the front of the hotel...I generally spent a lot of time under a palapa on the beach after obtaining a beach towel from the front desk. Wi-fi worked well in my room and on the beach. The bartenders are attentive and once they know what you like, will pour a good drink. There is a bus stop one block from the hotel and it is easy to take the bus into Puerto Vallarta. There is also ample room for walking safely around the marina, through a small park and all around the area where restaurants, massages, etc. are located. The sunsets are gorgeous...especially if one decides to walk out on the pier/levy just below the restaurant. I have been to this hotel once before and certainly will go again. It is not a Hilton or a RIU or a Marriott, but a nice clean, Mexican hotel with a sense of being in Mexico rather than Dallas or Atlanta or.....

Room Tip: Very inexpensive trip to PV if you take the bus to Wal Mart and then switch to a city bus...14 pesos...

Our stay was supposed to be ok. we arrived at about 9 pm.On July 1, 2013. i took a quick tour towarsds the pool i thought the swimming pool was very dirty. I told the front desk how often they clean the pool and their responce was everyday in the morning. so I thought next day it would be ok to have our children enjoy the pool. our room was pale white no pictures on the walls or on the halls or anywhere in the hotel no decorations it looked as an abandoned building. the room had no solid wall to close at night we could hear the ocean which it was ok. but, how do you stop a drunk woman singing and yelling all night long. i thought the front desk was going to send security at some point. but it never happen. old tv, no remote very old furniture and headboard was painted on the wall.our next day before we went to have breakfast i went to check out the swimming pool and it was still dirty. i brought it up to the front desk attention and immediately he said the cleaning crew were on the way. so we went to have breakfast it was very packed with so many people. no one to sit you down. we had to find our table it was dirty so we had to clean it up. the food was disgusting no taste cold no flavor and it looked liked like an animal farm. employes dumping lumps of nasty food at the buffet.

after a tasteless bad experience in the restaurant we took our children to the swimming pool. for our surprise it was still dirty. no one cleaned the pool. the front desk didnt know what to say. they claimed to be a 4 star hotel. they are not near a 1 star. PEOPLE BE CAREFUL THIS IS A DUMP HOTEL AND VERY EXPENSIVE IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR MONEY. I WILL WARRANTY YOU WILL NOT BE HAPPY ON YOUR VISIT. hopefully most of you read this bad review. WE WILL NOT RETURN EVER.

Room Tip: Do not stay at this hotel it is horrible nasty place to stay.

This hotel was horrible. First the service was the worst. It is nothing like going on vacation and then having the people in the hotel treat you like garbage! We got to our hotel late at around 9 and they reception starts to tell us we are going to be charged more for the kids. we had already called in the morning and they quoted us with the kids price. He was so rude and didnt help and made us feel like we would pay more. he said he couldnt help or do anything we would have to wait. the next morning we went to front desk...again no one was available until about 1. they told us he didnt know what he was talking about that we didnt owe more money. If they cannot help or dont know anything at least the receptionist should not be rude to you. then we wanted to rent bikes. we came down exactly 4 minutes after 5 and they wouldnt rent them to us. How rude. for only 4 minutes. And at breakfast they open up 10 minutes late but we have to wait. Also, we reserved our special dinner. We were 10 minutes late and they wouldnt serve us the food. Instead they took the plates they had for us already outside back inside to the kitchen instead of letting us sit down and it. This was because the cook didnt want to stay longer and he was so rude to us about it. I cannot believe people talk to visitors this way. HOwever, the Captain for kitchen was super nice. he explained everything to us. even though we were not able to eat it was nice to hear someone treat you with respect. we stayed 3 days and there is so much more to say. POINT is do not stay here. the food was not that great. rooms looked crappy. but most of all the service was horrible.

Stayed in a one bedroom kitchen unit so did not do the all inclusive
Great staff. The bellman, the front desk staff ,and the maids were all exceptional.
Enjoyed the beach and the local restaurants. Nice quiet time, close to the bus for trips to PV.
