“Even Better the 2nd Time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 16, 2012

We just returned from a week in Nuevo Vallarta. We had eaten at the Riviera Grill in 2010 and were looking forward to a return dinner. We were not disappointed. Everyone liked what they ordered. I had the seafood pasta, which was delicious. I didn't come to Mexico to get pasta, but the waiter said the chef is Italian and makes some good pasta dishes - he was right. Others had Mexican or seafood items and left with smiles on their faces. Even the kids (7, 5, and 3) were happy. A nice selection of tequilas, margaritas, and wines made for a nice evening. The setting is pleasant and they have a nice bar with TVs. We highly recommend Riviera Grill!

“Very good hidden restaurant”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2012

What a great surprise to find this restaurant after too much buffet food. We are staying at a resort with too many theme nights and decided to try a local restaurant outside the 'compound'. When we walked up to the front it was a little deceiving as it looked like a painted concrete building with flowers. The inside is dramatically different and exotic looking. The host and waiters are very pleasant and attentive. The menu was good although somewhat limited. However, what we did order tasted fantastic. We went back a second time! Service again was great even at the late hour.

“Fabulous dinner!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 10, 2012

This outdoor restaurant doesn't look like much from the outside, but once you enter the garden atmosphere it is so charming and beautiful. We absolutely loved it. The atmosphere is wonderful, the service is fabulous and the food was delicious. One of us had the enchiladas with mole - absolutely delicious. After a week of mexican food, one of us opted for the spaghetti - yummy! Nice wine selection, great margaritas, attentive servers. And the dessert was to die for - we had the guava cheesecake - very different than what I expected but absolutely heavenly. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

“What a waste of time.....”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed March 28, 2012

Behind an unasuming facade of this place, on the nain drag through Nuevo vallarta, lies what seemed to us to be relaxed garden restaurant. Partially spurred by great reviews on Trip Advisor we decided to go.
At 6:45 PM the place was third full. Upon arrival we were welcomed by young lady (on cellphone) who offered us a table next to their " Italian singer/guitar player" which we declined opting instead for a table on back patio. The reason was simple; we just thought that this was the worst, the loudest ,the most no-no "Italian" singer this side of Shanghai.
We were seated by the cellphone lady and advised the a waiter will arrive with our welcome margarita. In the meantime we examined the resto's offerings while enjoying not now more distant shrieks of the entertainer.
The wine list seemed sufficiently balanced and even reasonably priced in some cases. The food menu turned out to be skimpy in trying to please everybody. Nevertheless we made our choices in our minds while waiting for the margarita man to show up. We noticed other guests idly waiting to while the guitar man obviously insisted on frightening us without any break.
In 22 minutes from arrival, with nobody even remotely interested in our table and the young lady still on her cellphone, we left.
Well done, Riviera Grill!
