Neuvo Vallarta, Mexico. Paradise Village Resort & Spa. 2008
This is truly a world class resort and spa! My husband and 1, with our adult daughter, have been vacationing here for over 10 years, at least once a year. The resort has been very well planned and thoughtfully built in a beautiful location a few miles north of Puerto Vallarta, upon pristine sandy beaches that stretch for miles, and also alongside a marina with beautiful views of the rain forest and the Bay of Banderas. You can sail right up and park your yacht. We see some beauties. The resort is modelled after the Mayan style of architecture. It is beautifully maintained, SO clean with great attention to detail. The rooms face beautiful views of both the ocean and the marina. The staff are terrific, happy, always working hard and the service is consistently excellent. We see the same people (staff) year after year, it is like seeing family each time we return. This is very good and we know the resort treats their employees well. There is hardly any staff turnover as they all stay! Management does a fantastic job ensuring all is well for the guests (and their staff). The Mexican people here are genuinely so nice. So you do not overlook the following, the resort has two "out of this world" spas. The one on sight has a nice little gym adjacent. The spa further out on the grounds has an enormous state of the art, gym. Both have beautiful lap pools, restaurants, juice bars. Although I have visited many spas in North America , Europe and the Middle East the two at Paradise Village are my favorite. The treatments are unique and the staff so well trained and very skilled. There is a top class golf course. If this is your sport you will be very happy here. The landscaping everywhere is magnificant. The resort is home to many species of animals located in different areas, little zoos. The owner, a true humanitarian, has made his resort a center for "rescued" animals from such dire situations in his country. It is wonderful to see their recovery process. Over the years tiger, lion cubs and other creatures have been born at the resort. Ostriches and peacocks wander around the grounds. There are a wonderful group of parrots and a delightful performing sea lion called Monico! The resort is a very family-friendly place. It has a kid center and activities for all ages. There are two gorgeous pools along side the beach with choice of restaurants. Also an outside hot tub. Just outside the resort, a stroll away, is a lovely litlle mall with convenient boutiques and a supermarkert which makes it so convenient to stock up for your stay. This is the only place you need money as everything at the resort etc. can be charged to your room. If you are interested in time-share that is available also. It is fun to go in to busy downtown Puerto Vallarta to one of many nice restaurants, to shop. It is an attractive colonial town. (No good beach front, so Paradise Village with it's miles of sandy beach is so appealing) It is easy to travel to Puerto Vallarta. Three and a half hours direct flight from San Francisco, CA. The summer is too hot to visit, only if you want to do nothing except sit on the beach. We have visited all different times of the year. In the latter part of the year sea turtles come up onto the beach to lay their eggs. Further down the beach is a program to collect the eggs, bury them until they hatch and then release them into the ocean after dark (to avoid the birds that eat them). Several times we have gone down the beach (northwards) and helped release these tiny turtles into the ocean with the hope they will survive and grow. One had a really good feeling that we were doing something good for the survival of a species. There are many nice trips to take down the coast to various beaches/islands, something for everyone. In addition to my review of this resort (which I love so much), I must tell you that the owner/developer is also very concerned about the plight of the many families who live and work to survive at the Puerto Vallarta garbage dump. This is a little known fact. Mr. Sovernigo is in the process of buying/or has bought, some land there to build an air-conditioned center for the people to come and receive medical help, sign their children up for school and meet with people from the resort who come and volunteer their time to help them with their needs. On our last visit in January 2008 my daughter and I went out to the Dump with volunteers from FamiliesattheDump to feed the children breakfast and take bottled water to the adults scavenging at the dump. On many days this is all that they get. It is a very worthwhile thing to help others in great need, whilst being so fortunate to have such a great place to visit. I personally am pleased to be in a position to sponsor and help a family on a monthly basis, and send three of their children to school for relatively not a great deal of money per year. I find I can help break the cycle of poverty and impact the future generations onwards by doing so. I will also fill a suitcase for the children on my next visit! I hope that this review is as helpful as possible to whoever reads this. Paradise Village is a very special place on earth. Thank you.
