My husband and I stayed here from Oct. 6 to 13 (2012) and loved it. It was our first trip to Mexico and we couldn't have asked for a better introduction.
It is a small resort (in other words, just right) with friendly and attentive staff, great food in the buffet and both a la carte restaurants, and of course - a fantastic beach. The sunsets were heartbreakingly beautiful and we enjoyed them with our evening walks along the beach every night of our stay. Finding a hatching wild turtle nest just down the beach one night, and the actual turtle-release program a little further down the beach the next night are memories we'll cherish forever.
The food at the buffet was above our expectations, lots of variety and choices - really something for everyone, and all very good. We tried a little of pretty much everything! The wait staff was attentive, especially Juan at dinner. It was nice to get to know him a little bit during our short stay.
The food at the a la carte restaurants was very good also, but I almost didn't want to try them, the buffet was so good. Both the Italian and the Mexican had good, varied menus, good service and the food was delicious! We really enjoyed the "snack bar" too, and had the best burgers ever!
We really enjoyed the beach bar, where Benjamin made non-slushy fantastic margaritas to order for my husband (the best he's ever had), while I volleyed between yummy tequila sunrises and cervesas.
We had a ground floor, garden view room (no smoking permitted in any of the rooms, but on the patio is fine) and it was very peaceful after the long fun days - I could hear (if not see) the ocean and that was just fine. I think the pool-view rooms might have been a bit noisier. Our room/bath was cleaned and tidied every morning when we left for breakfast, no complaints there, and we always came back to charmingly “sculpted” towels decorated with tiny flowers arranged on the bed.
The only complaint we have really is that on arrival, the mini bar had not been stocked and it took three calls to finally have bottled water (that’s most important) brought to our room when we first arrived. After that, it was stocked every two days which we understood was the norm here. We did not like the beer in the mini fridge and we don’t drink soda pop, so those stayed put but the water was essential to have. Also, the coffee provided in the rooms to brew yourself is just awful - if you can wait to get to the breakfast buffet, have the coffee there instead, it’s much better.
This is a small resort compared to many and it was just right for us. The hotel, the staff, the location, the beach were all so great, I’d go back in a heartbeat - and recommend it to anyone.
