“Happy Times and Great Memories”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 27, 2011

This was our second stay at this property in the last year, the only time we have returned to the same property twice in our 4 other visits to PVR and NV. It is the attentive service, excellent food and accommodations that brought us back.
The rooms are exactly as advertised, spacious, clean and comfortable. We stayed in a Junior Suite with a Tropical View, King Size bed both times. We also suggest you bring DVD's as an alternative to the TV channel selection. The King size bed is quite comfortable with foam pillows. A fully stock mini fridge comes with sodas, both diet and regular, juice, mini coronas and bottled water, it was restocked every day.
The food selection we found on both visits to be excellent, in fact we would say very consistent in flavor and quality. The World Cafe for breakfast offers buffet style with stations where you can request made to order. There is plenty of hot and cold variety of selection. Our waiter, Enrique, made our toast each morning and brought it to our table.
Each day we had lunch at the Sunset Grill, which had the best food offering for that time of day. The Caribbean Sandwich is delicious. We found the service to be prompt and attentive each time by Mario and Israel. There is also available beside the Sunset Grill a Take Out Station where you can get a quick hamburger, hot dog or nacho's with cheese and meat/beans combination. We found this to be a handy stop for afternoon snack while lounging at the pool. Perhaps the offering could be expanded to include french fries, guacamole and chicken fingers. Another option for all day snack is the CoCo Cafe located by the Tuck Shop in lobby area, offering pastries, fruit plates, sandwiches and specialty coffees made to order, we would stop by at end of day for a small snack to take to our room.
For Dinner we choose the specialty restaurants over the buffet offering each night. We enjoyed the Oceana the best for its filet mignon and sautéed vegetables. Service was excellent both times and as an added feature there is a guitar player, named Napo, who would serenade on request, this added ambiance and made the dining experience more special. The Portofino Restaurant is Italian style; we enjoyed Four Cheese Lasagna and Chicken Parmigianino, again excellent food quality, the service here however we found to be “a little uptight", they need to relax a little and have some fun.
The Patio Restaurant has delicious food and excellent service. It also provides a great spot to catch the Sunset if you are fortunate to be seated at a table near the windows. We had a delicious fondue, and Pork Medallions. This restaurant had a harp player, which we found very enjoyable.
The Entertainment team is very friendly and helpful, often going out of their way to check to make sure we were having a great stay! Tennis and the Bike Tour were our favorite activities. Rafael, Nidia, Lisa and Corona were some of the fantastic entertainment team that made our stay special. They put on nightly events that were packed full of fun and entertainment. Karaoke and Casino Night were popular. The themed dinner nights, Mexicana and Caribbean were buffet style and provided very good entertainment by local dancers and bands.
Pool drink service we found to be excellent, Julio and Quentizel were happy and very attentive to our beverage needs everyday. There were always lounges available, however the adult pool was the only heated pool, and we did not know why that was.
We enjoyed a Wine Tasting event put on by Luis Fitch, the Hotel Manager, who is also a Sommelier, this was fantastic.
The Fitness Centre could use more equipment choices such as a treadmill, elliptical and perhaps a bit bigger room. We did use it each day in the morning and found it busy and congested.
The Lobby Bar provided good service, however did run out of Grand Marnier, one of my favorites over the weekend. Substituted a great tequila in its place however.
Check In, with Rafael, was fast and efficient, we were provided some of our discount coupons at Check In, but had to speak with a Vacation Club representative to get the remainder of them, this was a short conversation, they invite you to a presentation breakfast, however if you state you are not interested they accept that graciously.
So to conclude we found this to be a consistent choice of an all inclusive for quality, service and food. We will return again.

We were two young adults who thoroughly enjoyed our week at Dreams. There was always something exciting to do or see and the food selection was very good. There were no bugs around the resort anywhere.

There was a waiter in the World Cafe named Jesus, who made our stay outstanding. His service was exceptional; everyday he would bring me a new drink (with no alcohol, as I was on medication at the time) made with fresh bananas, strawberries and little umbrellas. He went above and beyond to ensure that we were satisfied with our meal.

We were in a Standard Tropical View Junior Suite, top floor (has vaulted ceilings) and jacuzzi on balcony. We LOVED the room, it was probably the best part of the hotel. The bathroom situation is fine, as you can pull the curtain over and the frosted glass you cannot see through. Was always very clean and was spacious (lots of closet/drawer space).

To get a front row palapa on the beach, we went downstairs around 8:00-8:40 am to reserve a spot with our own beach towels for the day. Which was great because compared to other places I have been you would have to reserve a decent spot as early as 4 am. There was always extra chairs available around the pool throughout the day.

Coco cafe was my favourite spot to visit throughout the day. The iced tea there is phenomenal, as well as the sugared donuts! There was a large selection of baked goods, fruit plates or small deli sandwiches available. Apparently the coffee/lattes were excellent, though I never tried.

There were many activities on beach provided by vendors (not the hotel) such as sea-dooing (we paid $30, but they ask for $40 for thirty minutes of riding, you can barter with them), parasailing (around $50-60), many people walking around and little hut shops along the beach, if you say No, the vendors respect that and move on).

We had an incident with guests staying in the room beside us. The reason we chose this hotel is because we has heard from other reviews that the nightlife dies down around 11:30 pm, which is does! We could hear the guests in the room beside us, as they were extremely loud and they stayed up until 2-4 am in the morning. We went to bed around 10:30 pm every night, so this was very frustrating for us as we came here to relax/rest in peace. We spoke to the front desk (Vanessa) and told her of our situation, she immediately rectified the situation and the next night they were much quieter. She followed up to see how we were doing and informed us that after 11:30 pm you can call security for noise complaints.

The front desk area, is off of the main lobby. There are three desks with chairs so you can be seated while checking in/out. I liked this much more then having a large front desk as a main feature in the hotel, it was nice to know someone was there if you needed to use their services. As well the concierge is located near the main bar. You do not wear bracelets, and before entering any restaurant you must provide your room number, although the staff tend to remember you after a while. This was not a nuisance, if you knew that going into the resort.

Below is a more detailed list of things we specifically liked and disliked about the resort.

WHAT WE LIKED:
- Cleanliness (grass was always cut, pool & pool deck always clean, beach was clear of any debris, public washroom was pristine, never left over drinks or plates lying around, there was always staff cleaning something)
- 24 hr Room Service (breakfast menu was great, that could be provided without disturbance through secrets delivery box)
- Bathrobes (the towels in the room were very soft!)
- Bed Comfort (best sleep at a hotel ever, there is a pillow menu ranging from hypoallergenic/orthopedic/goose feather)
- Shower (large and very clean, great water pressure and did NOT leak into toilet room)
- Mini Bar (restocked once daily and free to use, always has 5 Corona's, Sprite, Fanta, Apple/Orange Juice, Coca Cola, water)
- Jacuzzi (on balcony, very clean, slow to fill up, but worth the wait)
- Balcony Doors (slide all the way open and feels like an extension of the beautifully decorated room)
- Double Sinks in Bathroom (plenty of toiletries provided including toothpaste/toothbrush/body lotion/etc)
- Maid Service (we always left a sandy mess from the day before and it would be spotless when we came back later)
- Turn Down Service (bed was prepared, chocolates on pillow and schedule of next day's activities provided with lights dimmed and spa music on tv)
- In-room Safe (spacious, could fit two laptops/jewelry box/camera bag/make-up bag/etc)
- Plenty of Lounge Chairs (many around the pools with side tables, with lots of shade, could ask for extra umbrella if necessary)
- Entertainment Centre (could rent boogie boards/kayaks/board games/beach towels, daily activities were interesting including cooking lessons, animal towel folding, cocktail lesson, salsa dancing, water games, etc)
- Location (only a fifteen minute drive to airport, close to marina for "water taxi" service 20$ round trip ride to various locations, bus stop out front, pay phones in hotel and across street)
- Snack Bar (located by beach bar/hammocks, had hamburger/hotdogs/nacho station if you wanted a quick snack to take back to the beach)
- Beach/Pool Wait Staff (always 2-3 staff members taking drink orders so you didn't have to get up, always excellent service even without tipping)
- Internet (bought it for the week for $30 (half off) with $200 Sunquest Coupons we received upon arrival, which could be used towards spa/wine/romantic dinner on beach/etc, it was fast and effective for e-mailing purposes)
- Lifeguard/First Aid (stepped on a blowfish while boogie boarding, Dreams first aid lifeguard assisted with the situation and provided advice, was nice to know that if something more extreme had happened, there would be help right there on the beach, a cleaning staff member directed us towards the lifeguard, he was very helpful and caring even with language barrier)

WHAT WE DISLIKED:
- Thin Walls (between the rooms, you could hear some noise which is to be expected, everyone was very respectful and this wasn't a big issue except for the one incident previously mentioned)
- Service (was inconsistent at the a la carte restaurants, at Porto Fino they seemed to "brush" us off, perhaps because we were younger and they didn't expect us to tip, which was not the case, we tip if we have excellent service, the "older" crowds seemed to be pleased with the service, the waiters tended to pay more attention on them)
- Placement of Extra Salt/Pepper Shakers and Napkins at Porto Fino (on ledge right beside booth seating, would not call it a "fancy" dinner while waiters are moving around two inches beside you grabbing napkins and shakers for other people)
- Believed that the skirt steak at Seaside Grill, may have actually been horse and not beef.. not positive, but this is known to happen at Mexican resorts
- Salad Station at World Cafe (was sometimes empty and not refilled for a while)
- Bird Poop on Chairs (this was more of a nuisance that the resort can't really help, there are many birds in the area, though the chairs were always cleaned overnight)

We stayed at this hotel in January 2010 for two weeks. We have been taking winter vacation for the past 25 years, and for the first time we returned to the same place. We were so pleased with Dreams Villamagna that this time we stayed for three weeks. We wondered if going back for a second time things would be the same, but if anything things were better, and we enjoyed it even more.
The hotel is kept spotlessly clean, and everyone from the manager, to concierges, the dining room hotesses, waiters, and entertainment staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to make sure everything is to your liking.
There are four a-la-carte restaurants and reservations are not required. Food in all of them is excellent. Breakfast is served in the World Cafe which is buffet style, but waiters are numerous and ready to serve coffee, tea or juice. The World Cafe is also open for dinner from 7pm and several days a week there is a theme dinner served around the pool area.
If you enjoy long walks on beach, this is the place. We walked on both sides of the hotel for 2 hours a few times. One day, even the whales decided to give us a show.
The rooms are very spacious and very clean. Views from them are great.
There was entertainment every evening organised by the entertainment staff. Our favourite was the Black Sheep rock band. Thank you Luis, Horatio, Ruby, Nadia , Hector , Corona and many others who made us feel special. We hope to se you next year.

I would just like to thank all the staff at the VM . My husband and I had a wonderful week. The food was fantastic and the attention given to presentation was so Impressive. Jesus thankyou for all your special attention..you always made sure we had our coffe and juice as soon as we were seated..and all that amazing Lox for my husband:)). Raymond and the entertainment staff work a 16 hour day always with a smile on there faces. The weather is perfect sunny and 30c everyday with spectacular sunsets. The beach while not white sand is firm spotless and you can literally walk for miles..the ocean always fun with great waves. The night life in the resort was low key ..so if you are looking for a big party time..not the place. We were happier beyond our expectations!! Thankyou!

I stayed at this Dreams location Feb 3-10 with my husband. I just wanted to put a quick review down, as I would have wanted to know this info while I researched this hotel. When people say this isn't a party place, they should point out that the majority of people are in their 60's or older. My husband and I are in our early thirty's, and by no means were we looking to party, but we would have liked to be around more people our own age to at least share some conversation.
Very clean rooms, awesome service, modern, great drinks (definitley premium liquour). The people working at this hotel really seem to care that you have a wonderful holiday, and will go out of their way any time they can. The little cafe downstairs has the BEST coffee and snacks, check it out! We upgraded to Preffered club, and would highly suggest it, the ocean view from the jacuzzi on the balcony is worth it alone! Oh and the preffered section on the beach, so you don't have to listen to the vendors on the beach AT ALL.

We just returned from a 5 day trip to this wonderful hotel. We had a group of 12 people. I want to commend Jesus, who is a server in the World Cafe. He is AMAZING!! He treated our group like royalty, while we were there and definitely went above & beyond! For breakfast, he would have juice and toast waiting for us at our table. At lunch, he would have chips, salsa & guacamole waiting for us!

He is very personable & definitely well liked!! We hated to say good-bye to him, on the day we left!

Aside from how wonderful Jesus was, the hotel itself is AWESOME! Very beautiful and clean and all of the staff were very attentive. Definitely will return!
