“EXCELLENT GETAWAY!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 9, 2013

My boyfriend and I were there April28-May5 - we had a wonderful and relaxing time staying at the RIU. We have read many reviews before we booked the resort and most of the time we can only trust 50-50% of the review comments. But for this time, I have to say - any good comments you have read at this site - believe it 100%. The service at this resort is EXCELLENT - all the staff are extremely friendly and content. The resort is extremely cleaned - you will always see someone cleaning to make sure everything is spotless. The food at the resort is great (the buffet has many choices from breakfast, lunch or dinner. With the 4 A La Carte Restaurants - we went to 3 out of 4. We didn't have any problem getting reservation. I would choose the Krystal over the 3.)

Many people mentioned about the small town Burcerias, it is a 30minutes walk from our resort. It is a very small town so we only spent like an hour there. There's a small flea market there where you can buy souvenirs, hats, clothes, etc.

We also took public buses to downtown Puerto Vallarta which took around 45 minutes or 25 minutes taxi which costs around $24USD.

TIPS: Do bring $1USD bills to tips - the staff there worked really hard so they definitely deserved additional bonus.

We would definitely come back to this resort again!!!!!

My wife and I came here with our 4 year old daughter and stayed from 4/26-5/4. This is a great laid back vacation. No one trying to sell you time shares. Food is very good. They have specialty restaurants like Japanese, Mexican steakhouse and Krystal. You really can't expect authentic Sushi, but it was still good. Krystal restaurant was very good. They have a little kid show at 8pm every night that they do need some work on, but our 4 year old was not bored there for a minute. At the pool they have kids club. This is for small children where they would take them and do activities with them at no charge. Overall this was a great trip and we will be coming back to this Paradise.

We just got back from our honeymoon at the Rui Palace Pacifico. It was paradise all the way around. We couldn't have been happier with our stay at this magnificent, "palace"!! It was so fantastic, our travel agent was there with her husband (and she can go anywhere). I have only great things to say about this hotel. We will cherish our memories!

Room Tip: Our junior suite was a, "partial view" of ocean and it was terrific!!!

Stayed at the Riu Palace Pacifico April 20th for six nights. Travel from Boston at Logan a little hectic because of the heightened security following bombing T the marathon. Arrived at airport no lines and got to our ride very quickly, just about fifteen minute drive to the hotel. Entering the lobby we were amazed, how beautiful it was. Stayed in room 6074 a corner suite, beautiful view of the ocean and mountains. Room very clean and had no problem with the beds, slept very well. The food was very good always found something good to eat at the buffet. Went to all the specialty restaurants and never had a problem booking. Our favorite was the Japanese, least favorite Krystal, everyone has their own taste. It is a hotel for grown ups. There were children there but did not seem to be that much for them to do,better off at one of the other Rius. Took a walk to the two sister hotels and they were very crowded and loads of children they looked nice but we were glad we were at the Palace. Yes they do play the towel game but we could always find a seat at the pool and beach. The pool was huge with a great swim up bar with plenty of seating around the bar.

Room Tip: Higher floors have a great view. Floor five or above.

This was a surprise trip for my sister in law for her special birthday which I had emailed the hotel to have special accomadations for us simply a good view (which we were in room 1027 which nothing great) and a simple happy birthday would of been wonderful. When we arrived at the hotel at about 4ish, no one was there to help with our luggage nor did anyone approach us with the normal Riu drinks and attention that normally you receive at the Riu (again this is our 6-7th time at the Riu's) and this was the PALACE, I guess I expected too much. I had informed the hotel that we were having other family members joining us within the next few days (we were there 10 days and they were there 7 days) but that was never addressed.Yes very very clean, food great, drinks great, staff great except for the hotel front desk, I would of thought they would of put a little more effort for her special day.

Just returned from 2wks with 32 friends/family. We have been to several Riu resorts and from checkin/checkout this hotel does it right. customer service is 5 star all the way , with follow up calls making sure your happy and have everything you need. The hotel it self is spotless and amazing. Buffet is exceptionaly clean and always full. Waiters in buffet were again top notch. Location was great as close to Bucerias for walking. This is a repeat comment but maybe one time the Riu OWNERS will take note: the wine is still terrible here!!!! Not sure why such a problem at all riu's but would have loved a nice glass of wine with dinner. Also the lack of bathrooms too. These are not a make or break for us as the rest of the hotel/staff are truely wonderful . Well work extra $$$- miss our mexican amigos already. salute til next year

Room Tip: we had a ocean front room (right under riu sign) seventh floor and was just beautiful!!!

We stayed at the Riu Palace Pacifico March 22-29, 2013. The resort is spotlessly clean. The property is quite compact, yet does not feel crowded. The eight story building makes everything very accessible. I felt comfortable finding my way around immediately. I read many, many reviews regarding this resort before our departure, so I trusted that the bathrooms were very far from the pool and was walking to the lobby area to use the restrooms. It wasn't until day 6 (out of 7) that I discovered a wonderful, large, clean restroom very close to the pool area beneath the La Peninsula Restaurant! (Just make a quick left turn off the walkway when leaving the pool)

The rooms are very well appointed and comfortable. We requested and received a room on the 8th floor. Our room was on the north side of the building which we really appreciated because it is very quiet. We also had two balconies and a wonderful view of the ocean! Yes, Riu does create a King bed by pushing two doubles together, but we requested a bed softener and it was very comfortable.

The staff is very friendly and helpful. They really go above and beyond to make your holiday enjoyable. The beverage service is efficient. The reservation system for dinner is frustrating. The line forms in the lobby at approximately 7:30 and our experience was we were unable to get our reservation until several days in advance. We ended up just going to the Steak House (which was excellent), and went to the buffet all other nights. The food at the buffet is very good with quite a good selection. We also enjoyed the flexibility of deciding when to eat.

Prior to staying at the Riu Palace Pacifico, we stayed at the Riu Palace Mexico in Playa del Carmen. Despite the fact that they are both called "Palace" resorts, we found the Riu Palace Mexico far, far superior in terms of food selection. I would not hesitate, however, to return to the Pacifico.

Be sure to take the short walk down the beach (south) to visit the other two Rius. We ate lunch at the Riu Vallarta several times during the week. There is a beautiful two story restaurant facing the ocean there that has a wonderful lunch buffet.

Room Tip: Request a room on the upper floor for an ocean view. If you prefer quiet at night ask for a room on...
