“Enjoyable and easy stay, small quirks ”

First trip to the area with our little kids. We had a one bedroom condo and it was nice with a large patio and fully stocked kitchen. The lights in the bedroom didn't all work, maybe a blown fuse. Shower only, but a nice one. A bath would be good for kids though. The pull out couch had a pretty pathetic mattress, even for a pull out. Kids didn't complain but no adult would be comfortable.
The sheets and bedding smelled pretty chemically, so I'd prefer fresher scents. The frame over main door sort of collapsed and it's clear that it's a common or frequent issue, as the door stop is too strong for the frame. Maintenance was quick to respond however.
Pools were great and the beach is very kid friendly. Nice water, good service there as well. Not too pricey for drinks. The pool food is pretty greasy and not appealing, but it's there and kids will eat it.
No tubes provided for the lady river but they sell them in the shop, grocery store near by, so easy to eat in for all meals.
We were there on Memorial Day weekend and still found pool spots and beach. The entertainment was loud and not needed. It gave too much of a wanna be party feel, when this place is better suited for families.
I would recommend a noise machine, from the bedroo. You van hear every other guest who uses the elevator or stairs near by.

Went golfing over the Memorial Day weekend. The course was pretty dry and chunked up. There were several fairways where the sand had drifted over them, so they played like bunker shots instead of fairway shots...just not well groomed. Given this was a huge weekend for Rocky Point, I assumed the course was in great condition like it was last year, so I booked it without checking. Fairways are so close together you might accidentally play for the wrong green, so look closely. I'll be careful to scope out the condition better next year before I commit my time. I'm a 13 handicapper. Nice weather though. High winds, so be sure to club up 2 on some holes.

We've been visiting Las Palomas for three years now. It doesn't get much better than staying beach front with little kids. We can play on the beach or at the many pools, splash pads, lazy river then walk the kids to the condo for a quick nap and lunch. You can order food and drinks at the pool too which is delicious and convenient. Try the Mexican flag, it's an alcoholic beverage with piña colada, strawberry daiquiri and Mindoro with a dash of cinnamon. The place is always clean and well manicured. I love the beach but make sure you bring water shoes, there's a coral shelf which can be sharp and pothole-y if you're not careful. High tide and low tide here is the difference between a decent size beach and s huge beach but it also makes for some cool beach combing with the kids. The one thing that can be a hassle are the beach vendors, they are pretty aggressive if you show any interest so unless you're serious about buying something just give them a kind, 'no gracias' and they'll leave you alone. There are restaurants at this resort but be sure to venture off site. The area is pretty safe, just use your best judgement. We've gone to a local baseball game (Puerto Penasco Tiburones). Eaten great burritos (Longos Burros- there are a few locations, one on the main road into town, a block down from the Sams Club). Even had a great roadside piña colada(in a fresh pineapple). There are also a few great mobile ceviche trucks in town- trust me they are worth a try!

This place is awesome. Not the cheapest though, but worth every penny. Got a room with terrace with both pool and ocean view, 1st level, which was great because we could just walk to the pool without all the elevator hassle. The service was great and the food from the room service was delicious. Had a full equipped kitchen, living room, dining room, with all amenities, 2 TV's (one in the room and other in the living room). Terrace had a table (which we used to have a terrific breakfast) Lucky for us the weather was just perfect. Had a minor problem with one of the keys but was replaced immediately.

Room Tip: Ask for the yellow card if you want to just add things to your room charge like the pool bar or room...

We rented a condo in Las Palomas for a week for our first trip to Puerto Penasco. They were doing some serious renovations and there was paint and tarp everywhere as well as workers by the pool. Still, the lobby is beautiful and every single condo has an amazing view of the ocean. The common areas were clean and nice with a fantastic pool and lazy river (we stayed in Phase 2). They also have a small convenience store that sells everything from food to swimsuits (located in Phase 1). We didn't try the restaurants but did have room service once which was good. The pool bar is awesome just based on it's proximity to the beach but the food and drinks are mediocre and priced for US tourists. Our issues were with very spotty housekeeping. Some days they cleaned, some days they didn't and some of them were good and some barely cleaned. All in all, I would stay there again....it's a very nice place overall.

This is the biggest property in Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) and it has awesome views, great condos, and many pools, a huge hot tub, and a lazy river.

We went to their new spa Five Senses and it was okay, but not quite the normal resort spa experience I am used to.

The food and drinks were good, but service was a bit slow...

First I will say I have been to Rocky Point before but never overnight. So I was indeed a little nervous because no matter which way you look at it your not in the USA anymore lol. The resort however was a pleasant surprise. We had a gorgeous room on the 8th floor and the views were nothing less than perfect. They had a band play the first night we arrived but they only played until 8PM which was perfect timing I thought. I could see locals getting a little irritated if it was any later than that.

The condo was spotless, spacious and had EVERYTHING you could need for a weekend stay. In fact next time we go (which is this weekend) we don't even plan to leave the resort as everything you need is right there. If your new to going to Rocky Point keep in mind the food is very bland (at best) we made the mistake of buying all our food but this next trip we are taking everything in coolers from Costco or something. But since this Tripadvisor report is supposed to be about the resort I will get back to that.

The service at the front desk was extremely friendly. We did have an issue with our AC unit not working in one of the bedrooms when we were there, but we called the front desk and they had someone there to work on it within an hour (problem solved). The grounds are SPOTLESS and you will see workers walking around sweeping up sand, picking up loose towels, emptying trash, and just general maintenance pretty much 24/7 around the clock. Very pleased with the security and upkeep. The pools and swim up bars are gorgeous as you would imagine. My only complaint would be the propane was empty on 3 out of 4 grill units (could have just been our timing).

Also the only weird occurrence was the bartender from the swim up bar actually walked over to us on the beach and asked us if we had left an open tab the day before (which we did not and had receipts for). He wasn't exactly rude about it, but you could see he wasn't sure whether or not to believe us and I was taken back by that because not only did we pay for our tab when we ordered but we also left him a good tip despite his subpar service. So that was a bit weird but we didn't let that ruin our vacation. The important thing is that the resort was beautiful and totally serene and we would absolutely stay there time and time again.

Here is one MAJOR TIP for anyone staying with kids..............Yes phase II is newer but what they don't tell you is that there is a pile of rock that is directly in front of Phase II that stretches across most the beach. And it without a doubt is a pain for kids during high tide because you cannot see much of it (completely visible during low tide). But its just rocky and flat out dangerous for kids. Its NOT high and nothing huge, but it is just rocky and cannot be played on or near. In my opinion it completely ruins the Phase II condos. I would buy and stay at Phase I time and time again because of it. I should have taken a picture but we did not. Trust me its there and you will see it everywhere during low tide.
