Stayed at Marriott Aguascalientes during a business trip. Very nice hotel designed/furnished in European style including bar in the lobby. Sixteen stories tall and obviously the tallest structure in that area of the city. Very many people working at hotel all day and into the evening so safety did not seem to be any issue. There was a gym and business center but I did not access those amenities.
Due to a personnel change for my company's trip, my reservation was mixed up and cancelled by my travel agent. However, I was able to maintain a corporate rate and stay in the executive level room for a small upcharge to standard room rate as no standard floor rooms were left open. This room was a double bed room with swing out desk, desk chair, small sitting chair and table, coffee/wet bar. You must insert room card key into room main electrical switch just inside the room door to make all of room electrical except TV and bedside clock turn on. Bathroom seemed very nice with walk in shower with nice towels plus two robes provided in closet in room. Bathroom also provided free one small bottle water per day with larger bottle available for purchase from wet bar. Tap water was apparently potable as I had no issues with brushing teeth or shower. No problem with water pressure or hot water availability.
Air conditioning unit was very good and maintained temperature and , although may it be loud for some people, it was great for white noise which I like.
Only bizarre item was that the room wet bar refrigerator was locked shut though you could tell items were stocked in it when trying to open the door and hearing items inside. This was not just my room but the three other coworkers had same experience. However, I do not know that I would want to drink the items since the refrigerator also turned off when the room key was removed from the room main electrical switch. No telling how many hot-cold cycles the items inside had been through.
Must use room card key in elevator to access your room floor and 16th floor for lounge and lounge itself if staying on executive level.
Executive lounge was very nice with complimentary Continental breakfast in the mornings for room guest plus one other person which allowed one of my fellow employees to eat with me and not have to expense the meal. Lounge also has evening complimentary heavy appetizers and hors d'oeuvres along with complimentary drink for the room guest. This provided a nice in-between finishing work but before going to dinner for the room guest plus one other person (and maybe one other person if you are nice and smile!). Do not forget to provide a gratuity for executive lounge employees on the room sign off check which you have to sign when you finish breakfast or evening drinks in the executive lounge.
Located right across from the modern mall with access to banking in the mall. Semi-close to a night club area. Also across the highway was Wal-mart if you need to purchase lower cost items such as sundries or clothing or such as US visitors purchasing liquor to return. The location is, as others have said, not close to the down town and historic area. I walked the pool and rear water feature area on the property and did not smell anything from the dairy behind it. The grounds also had a children's play and climbing structure.
When I checked in the Marriott desk did not quote room to me with taxes applied so final room cost was more than rate quoted but I did receive a very nice rate due to corporate rate applied.
Overall very nice property and I would stay here when in Aguascalientes for business again.
