We had previously had lunch and were impressed, so I had to book to stay for my wife's birthday. All the rooms looked great, but as it was a special occasion I decided to upgrade to the Noble suite - it was worth it, especially to see the look on her face when she saw it for the first time. It is a really special room, so spacious and tastefully furnished and the bathroom is wonderful There are two roll top baths, two hand basins and a large shower and of course a loo. Lovely atmospheric lighting provided by the spotlights and the under floor heating is a great touch. There is a huge comfortable bed, settee and wall mounted tv. Only minor criticisms of the room would be the two Roman blinds which are not really in keeping with the quality of the room and are poorly secured. Also the TV could be improved by making Sky available - but these are only minor criticisms.
The food is of a very high standard, bordering on Michelin star!! All the dishes we tasted worked really well together and the quality of the produce was obviously first class. The fresh fruit cocktail at breakfast was superb and the cooked breakfast was presented beautifully.
We believe that the Dinner, Bed & Breakfast rate for two people was very good value and the free cream tea with fresh scones is a lovely addition. Last but not least, I must mention the staff, who were all very polite and attentive. We would thoroughly recommend this beautiful Lakeland inn and restaurant.
