“Perfectly basic”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2014

Basic but clean rooms, nice views and near the best beaches in Europe Elafonissi and Kedrodados. The guys running the place are really nice and friendly and the food is top notch for Crete. Highly recommended

My partner and I had a lovely one night stay at Glykeria. As we are both Cretan living abroad we enjoyed a mini homeland escape at Elafonisi and Kedrodasos which are a breath away from Glykeria. Our room was spacious and clean with a jaw-dropping view of the sunset over the cliffs.

The owners are truly wonderful hosts and the cuisine at the restaurant is AMAZING!!! Don't miss to taste "ntakos" and "tsigariasto", one of the original Cretan specialties.

We stayed there for 5days frying on the beach=)
The stay was amazing our hosts where attentive and informative and we had great fun.
More over breakfast was tasty and you could eat plenty, and as the food on our first evening was delicious we ate there thru out all our stay.
The best was goat from local butchery and zucchini balls witch we could eat every day.
Rooms where spacious and clean, view was beautifull.
It is located in a very small village close to Elafonissi beach, so i assume that reason for price is because of proximity to Natura 2000area and also it's maybe one of 3other places that you can sleep.
But I think value for money was great mainly because of amazing food=) AND CLEANLINESS

We were looking forward to staying at Glykeria B&B and we were warmly welcomed. The room was spotlessly clean with an amazing view. The bathroom was basic, but functional.

The pool area is nice. There was no bar service, we had to walk across the busy road to the taverna to pick up drinks.

Dinner was a disappointment and expensive. There is an obvious problem with flies in the restaurant and terrace area. My guess is they are dumping their food waste close by. There were no flies in the B&B so it was clearly a local restaurant issue.

Breakfast was included in the price and was unexceptional. We also had a plague of flies to share our breakfast.

Overall it was not a bad experience, but I would not consider going back again.

Staying on this part of the island is in itself something of an adventure; whilst the rooms do not offer the highest standards of accommodation, a shower in the morning can be a bracing event, the personality of the family team that run the hotel added to the excellence of the home spun cuisine combine to make a stay here a delight.

I agree with much of what other reviewers have said - very friendly and welcoming host, Niko; good food in the taverna - very tasty and succulent goat kokkinisto, grilled veg a nice change from horta\horiatiki; generous raki and yoghurt with honey and walnuts. Wine, more expensive than the norm of about 7€ - it was over 9€ a kilo (5€ a kilo at the little taverna down the road!).

I knew there would be no wifi, no tv, no kitchenette.- so no surprises there. What was a surprise (no tariff displayed in the room) was that a simple room - bed, cupboard, frig, shower, balcony (great view) without anything else, would be 42€ a night, with breakfast for 2 (as there was no kettle, electric ring, etc in the room to make our own) at 12€. We've stayed at many places in Crete since August and, in value-for-money terms, Glykeria was not such good value. Maybe, 5 km from Elafonisi, anywhere else would have been the same - so, if they would have been, I am sorry to have made the comparison. But, in our experience, at other places, we got much more for either the same or for quite a bit less!

Stayed for 2 nights. Clean, no frills B&B with 9 (?) sea view rooms (we were on the bottom floor and still had a very nice view). No TV or internet but we stayed there for the beautiful nearby beach so we honestly didn't even notice that stuff was missing. Owners were very friendly and also own the family-run taverna across the street. Great food and sea view at the family-friendly taverna. Thoroughly enjoyed every meal there. Very convenient for food and the beach (5 minute drive to one of the best beaches in the world). Tremendous value and one of the only places to stay near Elafonisi. They were completely booked when we were there and had to turn people without reservations away, so probably a good idea to reserve the room ahead of time during the busy season. Bit of a drive on curvy mountain roads to get there from Chania. Hope to return often in the future!
