This was our second time at the Colonial and it was just as wonderful. We arrived very late at night as customs at the airport was very slow and took 2 1/2 hours to get through line up. Then drive an hour to our resort. We didn't get into our room until 4am. But to our delight walked into it with two bottle of nice liquor and fruit for us. I will just touch on a few things this time as you can read my other review for more details. Staff.... Wonderful. We had a wonderful experience, again. Everyone was so friendly and so helpful. We had to make two different calls and both were met almost immediately and taken care of. Wonderful... We decided after a few days to take the upgrade and we are glad we did. We HAD a really great room close to the beach but we took the Junior Suite facing the beach. Loved it. Loved the plus's that go with it too. This time I had my hair braided on sight and I was very pleased with it. Did half head and it worked great with all the snorkelling we did. Day we were leaving I did the Pedicure and Manicure at their Spa and it was very relaxing. Only thing the nail polish started coming off with in the hour but I did't bother with it. The relaxing time I had there was worth it. We had NO problem finding something to eat that we liked. Our favourite meal was at the Steakhouse. Delicious Steak, fantastic presentation and staff. Japanese Show Table was second. We had ate there twice this visit. And funny thing about that, we had the same chef that we had 6 years ago. Check out the pics. Getting al la carte's was hard, most were 9:30 or 10pm. Resort was very busy this time we were there. The evening Buffet has a delicious steak some nights there too.... The bar staff were excellent throughout our visit, with the exception of the one time we went in to the swim up bar.... took some time to get noticed and served. We tipped everyone, each time and our room each day. Don't take American Money with you, there is a new law in Mexico and they don't want the US money. It's ok for tips but you could be refused a sale if you try to use it. They prefer Canadian or Peso. Big change from other years. There is a great market there, nice to stroll through. We will next time bring our own beach towel. If you loose your towel they will charge you $20, not a problem but everyone has the same coloured towel and some people are dishonest and steal yours. So we'll bring a unique set for ourselves next time. You have to take your time getting into the water. Watch where most people are and walk in that spot and work your way around. (They've figured it out) The coral is along the shore and if the water is rough you can't see the coral til it's too late. DON'T run in....we saw the faces of many people hitting the coral and then Pain. We figured it out quick but after we hit some coral ourselves. The Beach section has the best beach. Shouldn't hurt your feet there. Our favourite thing to do was snorkel. We brought our own "dry snorkel", With our upgrade we had wireless internet in our room, and although others complained it wasn't any good, ours was perfect all the time. We brought our IPAD with us and download our pics for family everyday on Facebook. No problems at all. If you come in late like we did, the 24 hour Bar in the lobby has snacking food, and sandwiches too. Our 'waterproof" camera fried while there so we had to buy disposable ones from the resort. Next time we'll bring a waterproof one (in a waterproof case). lol We found out too late but take advantage of the FREE Catamaran's. Day before leaving we went to find out the price, only to find out it was free but they were all booked. Book early on your visit and take them out for a spin. They will teach you too if you don't know how to use them. We'd like to thank the Sweet Girls behind the front desk for all their help, and Daniel in the Colonial 24 hour Bar for his great conversations and great bartending.
We like the Jalisco Building... Third floor. 6313 was good, so was the junior suite 6307. It is WAY...
