I loved the review titled “Seriously?” and could not agree more! The things people complain about blow my mind. I, like most people, I read these reviews before going and take things with a grain of salt but anyone who said this place was boring clearly never left their rooms and I question if they were even at the same resort as I was. I enjoyed my vacation and had a great time!!
The food:
Buffet was good. We never waited in line longer than 3 people deep (have been to resorts where you are lined up for half an hour or longer). There is a great variety and while each theme night had very similar menus, it was still good. We went to all 4 of the A La Cart restaurants and found the steak house the best. The Spanish and Seafood were good as well and we were a little disappointed in the Mexican restaurant but it still wasn’t awful by any means. You just have to book them the first day you get there otherwise they do fill up.
The Resort:
BEAUTIFUL!!! The beach is amazing and you see employees going around cleaning it all day. The gardens are just gorgeous as well. Very well kept! There are quite a few buildings as all the hotels are close so there is some walking but we did not find it an issue. Snorkeling off the beach was great as well. Again there was never a line up at the bars and we found the staff great.
The room:
When we first arrived they sent us and the couple we travelled to our rooms after giving us drinks (which were close to together as per our request) however both rooms had 2 double/queen beds. My husband is 6’ 4” and his feet were hanging off the end. Unacceptable, considering we had requested kings. We went straight back down stairs and asked for new rooms. They gave us new king size rooms for both us and our friends, however we were then in different buildings. It was a bit of a shame but glad to have beds that my husband could at least fit into. Overall, the room was cleaned and restocked every day. We never had to ask for anything.
Activities:
While there we went to XCaret, Xel-Ha, Tulum and Coco Bongo. Xcaret and Xel-ha were similar so I probably would have only done one or the other had we known. Coco Bongo was amazing and worth every penny! We also took a taxi to Playa del Carman for shopping (cost us $23 one way)
The evening shows were the best I’ve seen at any resort yet. It was NOT the kind where the audience was up there entertaining you as I have read in others reviews. They had tons of dancers, singers, live bands, and tons of costume changes throughout the shows. Only one night was karaoke but every other night was an actual show. They had tons of activities during the day as well such as morning Yoga, water aerobics, dance lessons, volleyball, water balloon toss, etc. The grounds also have mini golf, tennis courts, ping-pong tables, basketball courts, a giant chess board, pottery painting, 3 different kids parks complete with climbing wall and water sides, and an outdoor market in the middle of all 5 resorts. No one should be bored.
Overall, our first trip to Mexico was a great time and have really nothing to complain about.
