We stayed at EDSS from 28 June until 8 July. We were celebrating our silver wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived to the sad moment when we had to leave we were treated like royalty. The staff could not do enough to help. All were so friendly from the management down to the gardeners and you were always welcomed with a happy smile. We made some great friends and will certainly recommend this place to our family and friends.

The hotel was only approx 30% full whilst we were there, still recovering from the swine flu so not all the restaurants were open every evening but there was still plenty to chose from. The pools, being freshwater were fantastic. We stayed round quiet pool as we just wanted to relax but you soon found yourself chatting away to the other guests. All in all without going into everything we really did not want to leave and usaually by the end of our holiday we are ready for home but not this time I could have stayed forever. Can't wait to go back.

The El Dorado Seaside resort is the perfect place for a honeymoon. We came to the El Dorado for our honeymoon after getting married in Playa Del Carmen a few days earlier. In my opinion the El Dorado's private set-up is perfect for a romantic honeymoon however I would not suggest it for a destination wedding. The reason I say that is that the "condos" are spread out amongst a beautiful Mayan "jungle" which provides the romantic seclusion that honeymoon couples should be in search of. However if it was a big party coming to the wedding, it would be very difficult to meet up with everyone and be together as a group.

That said, aside from the atmosphere being amazing, restaurants were fantastic! Offering 6 different restaurants, it is hard to get tired of the food. The beach is rather large and is about 90% reef. This provides fantastic snokeling and the resort provides kayaks as well. One heads up is that the beach is a topless beach but nobody really pays any attn to it. Please let me know if you have any questions. Oh also, Internet is 6 USD per hour.

Look forward to answering your questions!

Dustin

I dont think anything i write will give the account this resort deserves.

Complete Paradise

Rooms - Perfect - 4 poster beds, gorgeous linin, jacquzzi in our bedroom. we had the luxery of a swim up room for our honeymoon so we could step out our room into the pool! If u have the money its well worth it.

perfect for a honeymoon

the beach was white sands and gorgeous blue sea with four poster beds - perfect for getting a luxury tan!

Staff treated us like royality - nothing was too much work

Losts of gorgeous resturants with perfect food, all a la carte menus (which we didnt realise and my hubbie only bought jeans! they expect all men to wear trousers and shirts and women in dresses, matts jeans were washed daily lol)

Cocktails were amazing and all part of the all inclusive 1000s to choose from and even make up ur own!

Entertainment wasnt excellent but you didnt need it. Midnight walks on the beach were enough for us.

24/7 room service went down very well!! although limited choice - well recommend the cheese cake!

It was so romantic and didnt want to leave.

only tips is if you have swim up room lay all your towels on the floor as the floor becomes a sheet of ice with the air con on and door open!

tv and dvd player was provided so we took some dvds and it was perfect for midnight enterainment.

We did the Tulum adventure trip which was really good! lots of fun. not too badly priced. i also did my dream trip of swimming with dolphins - it was amazing experience, as we also got to swim with seals and manatees - its a must!!!!

we did the midnight lobster cruise which was a bit crap to be honest - u were packed onto the boat so it was bursting at the seams and it was a lond drive home stopping at every hotel in Mexico! if you do it get a taxi back.

this was our best holiday - we loved it so much we sent our friends on honeymoon there too! and they also loved it.

Take american dollor currency it was the best for out there.
take advantage of the honeymoon package you get a free meal on the beach.

Go go go go - you will not regret it x

Our precious time of 4 days and 5 nights went by in a flash. My only complaint is that we did not have enough time to really get to enjoy this wonderful hotel and all it had to offer. If you are going to pay the money to go to this hotel you need at least 5 full days.
I do have 1 more complaint only 2 restaurants were open for breakfast and lunch and 4 were open for dinner. They did rotate which restaurants were open each day so that allowed for us to try different ones each day.

So here is my review or (aka) my play by play of our days:
The 1 ½ hour ride from the airport was all worth it when they greeted us at the doors of EDSS. They gave us a lavender scented wet towel a glass of good champagne and took us to our room by golf cart, which was all very nice.

We were very hungry so we went straight to the sandwicherie and ordered the much talked about fried chicken burrito and El Dorado Special. Very very yummy, especially covered in the guacamole. That evening we ate at La Carreta (the Mexican cuisine) and to start with I ordered some type of seafood tacos, they stunk (smelled) to say the least. Let’s just say after I told the waiter they treated me like I was a rock star. After my soup and main meal several staff would come by to make sure I was pleased with the rest of my dinner. The Cilantro soup was amazing!!! The fire show ended the evening and was entertaining.

The next day my husband and I just wanted to relax. We managed to go "beach bed hoping", it was great. We had no problems finding a beach bed because the hotel was only 30%-50% occupied during our stay. We really enjoyed all the different views and beach beds. Some were shaded some had full sun some would swing some were up high some were by the beach and some were by the pool. And all of them had service.
Our second dinner was the Asian food, Klay Talay. I will give you one word, amazing!
My husband ordered his appetizer again after dinner it was the chicken, beef and shrimp skewers. I was a participant in the BONK game for the nightly entertainment, pretty fun.

The 3rd day we went to Hidden Worlds, very fun and worth the trip if you want something different and adventures.
On this day we ate Vida for breakfast and dinner, very good! The Vida Margarita was wonderful and I am a picky margarita lady!

Our 4th and final day we had another relaxing day. After breakfast we did the Spanish lessons which were a good lesson and fun! Lounged at the activity pool, played water and sand volley ball, ping pong and BINGO.

Over all the staff was wonderful, the grounds were lush and colorful, the food was good but not gourmet and the rooms were perfect in every way. I did not care for their bathroom products; they smelled like Dawn soap to me. And I would reccommend an ocean front room, it was much nicer then our friends that had the garden view. But it could all depend on the building you are in.

Great place to relax and get away for a few days!
