“Romantic getaway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

We had a fantastic time at this wonderful hotel, even though there was work going on to update parts of the hotel. This hotel has everything to offer and the staff are very friendly and pleasant at all times. We cannot fault this hotel for its service, quality, cleanliness and food standard.
All the restaurants were of very high standard and rooms where cleaned every day.
Food, drink choice was amazing and a 5 Star resort for all your needs.
Would definitely recommend this as a great place to stay for a romantic getaway.
Meal on the beach a must as nice and romantic and worth every penny.

We have just returned from an 11 night stay in this relaxing resort and I agree with all reviews, absolutely the most relaxing holiday we have ever had!!!

As soon as we arrived we were met by friendly staff, who could not do enough for us. The introduction over, we were taken to our rooms which were just superb. We had one of the non swim up rooms, 2nd floor with balcony looking through palm trees onto the beach. The only down side of our room, block 24, is a bit close to the bar, so some nights the music from the bar was a bit loud. I would suggest block 30 upwards if you want some peace and quiet.

The whole complex was spotless with staff everywhere, brushing, cutting, cleaning but always with a friendly “Hola” which went a long way and was always presented with a friendly smile.
The food, everywhere was superb, breakfast under the palm trees, friendly banter with Lorenzo and staff , was always a great way to start the day.

Some of the organised trips are close by eg Tulum ruins and swimming with turtles at Akumal bay . These can easily be done by yourselves and a lot cheaper. Just get the local minibus (Colectivo) from hotel gate and go direct, great saving. Also at Tulum ruins, it’s worth getting a guide, but expensive. We asked the guide to find another couple and we would split the price which they did, so good tip.

Looked at all the adventure parks around and left it to the end of holiday and spoke with many people throughout the week to find out which came top. If you like adventure, high zip wires, driving small off road buggies through caves then Xplor is the one to book. It took 10 years to build and has only been open three years. We had a fantastic day there and went home with a big childish grin on our faces.

At the hotel there is some extensive building work going on, building around another 100 plus rooms at the back of the resort but this had minimal effect on our holiday. My only worry is that we chose the resort because of its small intimate size and with the new buildings we are worried this may change.

All in all this is the best beach holiday we have had, service and food was 5*, the room was superb and the staff were the best. Personal thanks to our two concierge looking after room 2614, the mad Miguel with the infectious laugh, you will hear it before you see him and all the staff in the Italian restaurant who made my wife’s birthday a very enjoyable, friendly and memorable evening.

Finally, I have never been back to the same place twice but would definitely go back to The Eldorado Suites tomorrow. My only worry it may lose its intimacy due to the extra rooms being added and we will continue to monitor this on Trip Advisor.
If you go to the Eldorado suites… relax and enjoy

Room Tip: Use Colcetivos local mini buses, cheap and fun, easy to use, along every 10 minutes. Get a room awa...

My wife and I just returned back to Philly. We had such an amazing experience everyone made us feel like we we're at home! Everyone said "Hola," to us as we walked around the resort. Something so simple yet really made such a nice difference. Everyone was so warm and friendly and went the extra mile. Would highly recommend this resort to family and friends, the rooms were kept very clean every day. Everything was amazing, we used the gym, which is located in the spa. When you first walk into the spa, you can smell the relaxation, it always smelt sooooo great! We were greeted everyday we went to the gym, and even we found a fellow American working there, I think his name was Chris. He was really awesome! I had never had a massage before and he answered all of our questions and even suggested some services for us. Our therapists were out of this world. My wife was with Ignacio and I was with a lady named Enaye or anahee. Not sure how to spell it. My first spa experience was awesome. Thanks guys for making our vacation escape sooooo amazing! We will definitely be coming back!

We just returned from our one week stay at the EDSS and really enjoyed it. The staff at this resort are some of the hardest working and friendliest we have experienced. We travel 3 times a year and almost always to Mexico and usually to Cancun or the Mayan.

I'll break this review down to 3 categories:

Awesome:
The staff, hotel cleanliness and the entire resort grounds are spotless. Lots of cleaning is happening on a regular basis and the pride of the staff really shows while they work. Everyone from the waiters to the bartenders and of course the rec staff go above and beyond to ensure a good time is had by all. The Italian restaurant was (for us) the best al a carte. Excellent food, service and ambience made it our favourite.

Very Good:
The rooms are well appointed and very functional and even though we had to switch rooms once (due to getting a room with two double beds) we were very impressed with the lay out. I might only suggest to get rid of the TV cabinet to allow for more room at the foot of the bed. The cabinet doors don't open flush so you have to make sure you close them before you go to bed or you may walk into them. Lots of storage space and hangers made it easy to unpack.

Good:
The food at breakfast and lunch could use some help. The breakfast buffet did get backed up as there is only one egg station and people were getting a little frustrated waiting to get bacon and eggs (the cook controls the bacon and it's not on the buffet but rather beside her while she cooks...odd?). There is a menu you could order off of but we honestly don't mind getting our own food. There are two other areas to get breakfast on the resort but neither in our opinion were great.

At lunch time the patio has a small buffet and offers a choice of 7 different hamburgers, a few Panini options and desert; this gets old in a hurry. The beach grill has a few options of rice, beans, chicken or beef and hamburgers or hot dogs. The restaurant by the front desk offers a few different items and we found this to be the best of the bunch...just our opinion.

I'm sure your thinking that perhaps I'm nit picking but I can only give this a 4.5 star based on a poor beach area, lack of music, a poor and ugly looking swim up bar at the activity pool (looks like a drive thru) and some weak food options at breakfast and lunch. Draft beer is your only option unless you’re in your room and a less than average wine is offered in both white and red unless you pay for a bottle from the wine list.

Not sure if we will return as there are allot of adult only options out there but if I do it's because of the staff and resort cleanliness!!

Our first time in an adults only resort,(bliss!!) and the resort certainly went beyond our expectations. Our jacuzzi suite (3625) was on 3rd floor, not overlooked & in a quiet area of the resort, it was kept very clean by the housekeeping team, mini bar stocked everyday ( if you have a preference for your drinks, tell the concierge who will organise it). Nothing seemed too much trouble for any of the staff & not one passed us without saying "hola". Loved all the meals in the restaurants, from breakfast to evening meal ( including lunch in La Sandwicherie, especially if our waiter was Lorenzo, who always had a smile & a few friendly words, loved him!) None of the staff expect a tip, grateful if you do but no change in service if you dont. Beach was good, not brilliant for swimming, take your sandshoes due to coral, but never a shortage of sun or daybeds & Lucy kept our drinks coming.

If you intend to go off site at all, due to the location, you will need a taxi or local bus, both readily available.

Just be aware that there is some building work at the moment, which didn't have any adverse effect on our holiday, although it would have been nice if Thomson had told us instead of telling us 2 days before we went that there was " a bit of rubble on the car park which would probably would be gone by the time we arrived......."

Room Tip: Our room was in a very quiet area of the resort, great for us. From what we could see, very few peop...

I am a liscensed travel agent and have traveled through Europe,Canada,U.S.A. and many Caribbean islands. Have stayed in every type of accomodation and all inclusives. My clients depend on me for accurate information and thats what you`ll get in this review. As stated the resort is spotless and immaculate, from the grounds to the suites. All the ala carte restaurants are nicely appionted, very clean and elegant. We ate at all of them and although we had our favorites never had a bad meal or service. Our beachfront jacuzzi suite was one of if not the nicest we have had, spacious and my wife enjoyed her evening bath in the jacuzzi tremondously.(shes a tub kind of girl). The walk in shower was great, large with beatiful tile work.(I`m a shower type guy). Always had hot water. The kingsize canopy bed and linens were wonderful, best sleep i`ve had at a resort. Resort has 220 rooms, swim-up suites, oceanfront suites, luxury suites, gardenview suites.(had a private tour of rooms) It is easy to get around the resort not big but laid out nicely. Lots of lounge chairs and beach cabanas. Also cabanas throughout the resort for private areas.
CHECK IN
Upon arrival we were welcomed by name and escorted to our lobby concierge where we recieved our room cards and info pack, then driven to our suite, our bags arrived minutes later. Very relaxing no stress checkin, the welcome drink and hot towel were a nice touch.
Lobby is not huge but very clean , no lobby bar but has tour desk, store and reception.
PERSONAL CONCIERGE
We were in building 27-2716 upper floor. Each series of buildings has a little concierge building on the main pathway where they take care of any needs you have(don`t have to walk up to lobby to find someone). A very special thankyou to COPELIA and TANIA our concierge girls. They were fabulous with info and any desires we had.
ALA CARTES
As I said we did eat in them all and I realize its a matter af choice, didn`t have bad meal but our favs. were Vida and the Itallian. The sole dinner in Vida was super and the salmon and 4 cheese alfredo delicious. Every one was a fine dinning experience. Service excellent. As far a the house wine we found the red from Spain quite adequate, there is a wine list you can order from. For breakfast you can eat strickly of menu in Vida. The grill by the main bar makes omletts etc and typical cereals, muffins. At Arrecifes they have made to order station more elaborate breakfast buffet or menu order. For lunch the beach bbq. had a different special every day, or could eat at the main bar grill, great burgers(the shrimp burger was yummy). Vida and Arrecifes for lunch as well.
A special thankyou to RAFAELO in VIDA who made our last night dinner very special.
BEACH AREA
The beach itself is very nice, lots of lounge chairs and double cabanas with nice mattress and some covered some open air. You have seen reviews about the beach swimming, let me elaborate, this was one of the premier beachs for swimming and reef snorkeling until hurricane Irene blew thru. They are making every effort to recliam the beach constantly picking through the water removing rocks, shells and corral pieces. You can still go in and swim but please take water shoes will make it much easier. This did not takeaway or ruin our trip, can`t fight mother nature. The butler service on the beach was wonderful, ANA and ROLANDO did a great job.
POOLS and MAIN SWING BAR
The pools are nicely located throughout the resort with swimup bars, once again with the double cabanas. The evening entertainment is at the main swing bar and is not the anamation team lip syncing and dancing. All 5 shows we saw(and we never stay up long enough to see many when we travel) were excellent, professional brought in, Mayan show, Reggae nite, Fire show, Fantastica show, and the comedian/magician was great. All shows started 9:30 and done by 10:30ish with exception of reggae band played much longer.
During the day you could play volleyball, take the kayak and snorkeling tour for free.
SPA
The spa at this resort is out of this world, one of the most relaxing, elegant retreats I have ever seen. 15,000 sq. ft. of pampering. You got to see it for yourself. I got a personnal tour of the facility and was amazing.
SUMMARY
Some of the other nice touches
Full service concierge, nightly turndown service, beach towel service, sauna and steam baths, slippers and bath robes in room, 24 hour room service.
We have never been made to feel this special and with total proffessional courtesy, haven`t felt this relaxed when we came back in a long time. This is a trully a luxury adults only resort in this price range. For full description google Karisma resorts and check out resort descriptions.
Great place for hooneymoon, romantic getaway or to reconnect with your soulmate.
PS. Don`t let the comments about construction worry you, new building, new lobby , will have a wine bar and lounge. No need to worry about crowded beach the resort owns another 500m of beach not opened yet. Unless you are a stuffed shirt or princess that looks for issues , go to this place, relax let the staff do there job, give you a vacation of a lifetime.
A very special thankyou to ALESSANDRA and all the staff, we had a great time. I have no problem recommending this resort and really hope to visit again.
GETTING AROUND and TOURS
For any tours go see ALBERTO at the beach watersport hut great prices and tours,we went to Chicz a nitza. Also you can take the collectivo bus from outside your resort from Tulum to Playa del Carmen for $3usd, really safe lots of tourists use this, we went to the Tulum ruins and beach on the collectivo, go do this its worth it .
