I spent 1 week at this hotel in February this year and what a lovely holiday it was! We have booked with First Choice and the flights were lovely, we booked taxi transfers too. The hotel had a lovely long drive and check in was a breeze with facials towels and champagne given to you.
Our room was really nice, the Jacuzzi bath was made up so we had a quick bath before dinner, fresh fruit and a bottle of champagne in the room on arrival too! My mum and dad's room wasn't as nice so they moved and had a corner room which was really big.
We tried all the restaurants, and enjoyed them all, the Mexican was probably our least favourite. The staff were quite slow at the main bar and whenever we wanted a premium branded drink they kept saying they had ran out! not quite 5* to me!
We booked Coco Bongs through the First Choice rep and it was brilliant! we didn't do the VIP upgrade and not sure if we would of bothered as the seats were quite low where as the area reserved for the first choice guest was at the top with a perfect view! The excursion had a few downfalls, the bars you go to before are awful! drinks are horrible! and in Coco's you have to leave at 1 when the coach departs! We decided to stay and so glad we did because it was open till about 3/4 am!
We booked our restaurants with concierge and the Chinese restaurant was amazing! We had a little room just to ourselves which was closed off to other guest by sliding doors - book that if you can!! The Italian had the best red wine! and Grill had the best margaritas, but not the best breakfast, the best breakfast was the international. During the day you can either go to the bbq which was delicious or the burger bar which done fantastic burgers!! but pizzas were a bit strange they were made on a wrap style bread. The room service was a bit hit and miss, the first time we did it, it was fantastic but the next few times it was a really long wait and the quality wasn't that great.
When we were there they had a wasp infestation but got it cornered off and destroyed!
The hotel doesn't have the best beachfront as if was difficult to walk into the sea but this is because it was hit by a hurricane a few years back , but it makes it great for snorkelling. The hotel do organised trips daily for snorkelling and kayaking which we done and was great fun. You do get typical people reserving sun beds which was a pain but the beach waitress made up for it, going around in the morning with buck fizz! but if you ordered a drink it took a while to get it.
The dress code wasn't strict as the brochures makes out, men can wear smart shorts in the evenings.
Plenty of day beds around the pools so you never struggle to get one, the quite pool has the "Jacuzzi" in the top corner but it was dirty and just pushed water around and the pools were really cold!
The spa guys come around and offer you the deals of the day but they were quite over priced compared to other hotels I have been to.
All in all I wouldn't rush back to this hotel, it was nice but as for value for money I would say it was slightly over priced. There are a lot more hotels available around the same price which would have been better.
