“Luna de miel en Paraiso”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2009

My husband and I spent our first all-inclusive resort experience here on our honeymoon and it was grand!

The room was clean and pretty. The hammock was comfy, the air worked well, the bathroom was acceptable, the jacuzzi was comfy and the bed, inviting.

The beach did leave some to be desired, as it was a man-made lagoon. Rocks blocked the dangerous waves and the sand was painfully rocky. However, the cabanas were cute and the staff ventured down with drink refills continuously. We kayaked and snorkled and saw plenty of pretty fish.

The snack bar at the pool is obviously intended for the huespedos barachos. It's greasy, unimpressive goodness! Nachos were our favorites. My best friend, Juan, the bartender, serves great selections of liquors and wine, however, the beer is only Dos Equis. I recommend the sangria!

The highlight of my stay was the restaurants. 7 to choose from keeps away monotony. Our favorite was the mexican restaurant. We even had our honeymoon dinner here and it was to die for. Steak medallions and homemade guacamole at our table!]
I also specifically remember the Argentinean restaurant being dillicious.

Don Qui wine with every meal.

When we stayed at this resort, they were running a special in which the excursions were included with the resort stay! Awesome! We went to Chichen Itza, Tulum and Ek Balam. I highly recommend each tour. The only downer was, on the longer trips, they hold the guest some what hostage because you are stuck on the tour bus for hours with the group and you have to eat at the same not-so-great restaurant in the middle of no where next to a price-gouging market. Save your appetite for when you return to the hotel.

Also, the discoteca left much to be desired. This smokey, loud bar was not our scene. Bring some playing cards or movies for nighttime entertainment.

The service here was wonderful. The employees were nothing but friendly and always smiling. They went above and beyond to make our experience enjoyable.

What a great hotel and a terrific holiday!
We stayed here for 2 weeks mid September and it`s the best, most comprehensive all-inclusive we`ve ever visited. The ocean view room was a good size, very clean and though personally I`d prefer more chairs rather than a double jaccuzzi I can see that the latter is fun for a while.
The shower room was also a reasonable size and towels and complementary toiletries plentiful.Thtowel dressing gowns were a nice touch too to lounge in.
The king size bed was comfortable. The tv had a decent range of channels. The mini bar was always well stocked with water, soft drinks, juices and beer. The full size bottles of whisky, tequila, bacardi and vodka were always stocked.
Room service was efficient and 24/7 with an excellent range available.
There are 4 restaurants available on the adults side of this hotel,Italian,Oriental,Seafood and Modern(whatever that`s supposed to be!) but you can venture to the other side where children are allowed and there`s Mexican ,a Steakhouse and Pizza and Pasta. We tried all but the Steakhouse and Pizza and Pasta and all were excellent with a good choice and well cooked and waiter service in the evenings. There`s a good choice of wines and the bottle is left on the table unlike many all inclusives where it tends to be by the glass and it`s a case of constantly trying to catch the waiters eye for service.None of that here-service was excellent.

Breakfast is buffet style and is very varied.Lunch is also buffet style and again a good choice,There`s also a snack bar by the swim up pool bar seving freshly made sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs etc.

The swimming pools are a fair size. The beach is artificial and though the one downside of the hotel is the lack of a natural beach from which you can swim in the sea, there is a lagoon which is nice, fairly shallow and the snorkelling isn`t bad if you`re patient--it`s not the Maldives but it`s pretty good and very safe.

The gym is well equipped with machines and some free weights, probably not up to scratch for a serious lifter but heck, you`re on holiday and how many serious lifters are ever happy with hotel gyms!?The spa is excellent,a bit pretentious for European taste maybe but the saunas and steam rooms ,jaccuzzis etc are good and the spa treatments we tried were more than adequate(except one manicure my wife had which she said was amateurish--looked ok to me but I know nothing of such things!).
The evening entertainment is a bit limited. There is a jazz combo that plays in the main bar area some nights which is ok but the main entertainment is in the other part of the hotel and tends to be a little less than professional but it passes an hour and they do try. There`s also a basic disco on that side of the hotel open until the early hours.
One thing to mention is that as I understand it the whole hotel was once adults only but because of lack of demand ,half was opened up to children. It means those on the adults side can use both parts and adults on the non-adults side can use both parts but children are confined to the non-adults side.It worked fine while we were there but it was so quiet anyway there were hardly any children. What it would be like in peak season I can`t say.Equally the fact that occupancy is currently about 20% means that the waiters are very attentive(tips are in short supply with so few people) and service quick and sun beds in shade round the pools plentiful. At peak times that might not be the case so this review is based on current experience and no more.

Overall,we loved the place, would certainly return, would take friends and family and think you`ll have a terrific time especially if it stays pretty quiet like presently. One thing to mention though is that you`ll almost certainly be lured into a sort of timeshare talk soon after arriving, usually with the promise of a free tour or something similar. It`s probably worth giving up a couple of hours for the "gift" but don`t take your credit card--they will try to get you to do so and they are very slick, very hard sell and very very determined to get you to sign up to something before you leave the room.Buyer beware!!!

Aventura Spa Palace - Very romantic! Quiet but energetic place where you can be alone without ever being alone. It's an adults-only all-inclusive 85 acres resort and spa. There is a total of 4 beautiful pools. 2 are beautiful , large lagoon-style pools-both with swim up bars. The pools have live music, entertainment and volleyball. There is also a cross current pool (with waterfall) for exercise and an indoor aquatic sound pool with a cold water plunge. There are 7 hot tubs. There is a nice quiet beach with lots of umbrellas and cushy lounges around the beautiful, clear ocean- fed lagoons, where you can swim, snorkel, float or kyack. There is fantastic full service at both beach and pools (drinks and food). There is a world class spa rated as one of the top 10 in the world (romantic couples massages), state -of -the -arts gym, 100 climbing wall, fitness trail, meditation garden, beautiful botanical gardens, yoga, spinning, tango lessons, dive tank and lessons, lighted tennis courts, basketball courts, bicycles, pool tables, ping pong, beach volleyball, disco, piano bar, martini bar, live music and dancing in the lobbies, nightly entertainment, free wireless internet, free phone calls to USA, free tours (Chichen Itza, Tulum, Paradise sail and snorkel, WetNWild, Isla Mujeures, etc.), discounts on spa services and golf, great lobby shops (Jeweley shops- gift shop- spa shop-golf shop), golf at Moon or Playacar Palace (and free use of all other Palace Resorts and their ammenities); also Playa is only a 10 minute cab ride away from 5th Ave. shops and clubs. The rooms are beautiful and all have balconys and large double jacuzzis that look out on the ocean and there is 24 hour room service. There are 7 restaurants with "no reservations" and an icecream/dessert restaurant and a juice bar. They serve top-shelf liquor. This resort is beyond compare and the service is outstanding- you feel like royalty and all of the staff make you feel very welcome. If you want first -class luxury, pampering, a large selection of great food and drink, fantastic service, beautiful suites, great snorkeling, and sooo much to do ( or be as quiet and relaxed as you choose) Aventura Spa is the one for you. We always have the perfect vacation here!

What a wonderful vacation. This was a good time of year to go to the Aventura Spa Palace. It was not very busy at all. We practically had the whole place to ourselves. Maybe 100 to 300 couples this time of year. Very sad for the staff, but very good for us. We had wonderful, outstanding service. The staff was wonderful. Carlos and Carolina were some of the Best wait staff we have had! The staff always greeted you with a smile and could not do enough for you! They go out of their way to make sure that you have good service. They could definitely teach the people of the USA a thing or two about being friendly!

A wonderful incentive was the free calling to the USA. I had an ill family member at home and it was nice to be able to call home everyday to check in and not have to worry about running up my cell phone.

My wife and I recently stayed at this resort for our Honeymoon. The resort was nice but I was expecting more. We had the conceirge level package and our fruit basket was two apples on a plate in our room. The ocean view was an obstructed view around the other buildings. Our bathrobes and towels were tatterd and rough. They were also doing alot of construction everywhere on the complex which they of course mentioned nothing about. We found it hard to relax with the smell of paint and the sound of jackhammers everywhere. The food we thought was o.k. but nothing great and I expected better. The service was very good and the staff was very friendly. I feel this is an average resort with an expensive price.

We were extremely impressed by the Aventura Spa Palace from the moment we entered. We had booked an all inclusive holiday as we wanted to spoil ourselves. We were greeted with drinks, a flower, hot towels to wipe our faces and hands. Reception expalined everything as this was a very large hotel with at least 6 places to eat. We were carted of to our room, so we didn't have to find our room in this huge complex with 2,000 rooms. The room had a jacuzzi and drinks that were free and unlimited. The bathroom was a tad bit small but was clean. The balcony had a hammock which was cool to relax on. The service was first class, the food was top notch and as usual, I ate too much. The staff at all the meal times got to know us and were very attentive and if you were unhappy with anything, they would change it without hesitation and just wanted you to be happy. Lying by the beach or poolside was relaxing and just kept ordering drinks and food as it was all included. The beach does not open out to the sea as it is a bit rough, but enclosed by rocks so that you are kept safe and can swim/snorkel. My only complaint was the room service, as this could take a bit of time sometimes, but I overlooked this as everything else was superb. The complex was so huge, you could have your pic of where you relaxed and where you ate - you were spoilt for choice.

As the name suggests, there is a spa, which cost extra, but was extremely relaxing and worth an afternoon. We also arranged a few excursions to Coba, Chichen Itza and Cancun, which we highly recommend if you are culturally inclined. the guides were excellent and Chichen Itza is a New Seven Wonder of the World. There were a lot more excursions that were possible, but not enough time.

We thoroughly enjoyed being pampered and would love to go back again. The weather was perfect at the end of March.
