“Oh that was a mistake”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Very expensive cheap hotel...The whole experience is a little "Ryanair" but without the cheap price. The lobby is almost undiscernable from the office lobby that it shares the building with. Its a bit like going into an office building and finding seats and a bar in it..."Odd". NIce location mind you and nice grounds and good view i guess for some rooms, and very convenient from the Telenor Stadium. The room i had...whew.."spartan" i think comes to mind (make sure you bring soap and shampoo), and no privacy. In my room i looked directly into a conference meeting room full of people looking in at me. Even though it was a nice day i had to shut the heavy curtains or you felt these delegates were right there in the room with you...Bad..get some net curtains for Gods sake. Avoid the Quality Hotel (its name is a misnomer)

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review, although a not very positive one. Quality Hotel Expo is a large and modern conference hotel with conference guests and business guests as the main clientele. This type of hotel does not meet all guests expectations, but most of our guests are satisfied with the design of the hotel. All rooms have soap of course and upgraded superior rooms have amenities from Malin+Goetz. 5 of our rooms are opposed 3 of our boardrooms which is normally used during the day. We have a total of 301 rooms, many with a nice view.

If you do come back at another occasion, please ask for a room with an ocean view.

Best Regards, Frederik Lindvik

This was a business trip with a group of about 20 colleagues. We had a reason to be close to this area as our business meetings were with Telenor and other nearby companies. So location was critical decision criteria. But other than that, hotel was good. Rooms are a bit smaller that I hoped but it was one night for me and two for my colleagues so we could live with that.

Staff are very courteous and helpful and that made a difference especially in offering transportation advice to the Airport in such an otherwise expensive country.

I have stayed at Expo several times during my Oslo trips, and I prefer Expo. Short distance to job, quiet area, high quality bed and an excellent, delicious breakfast. Always good service at the desk.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room towards the forest/garden area. The desk will help you.

Clean, fast check in and out, free Wi-Fi, but the rooms are rather bleak and sparse which matches the style throughout the hotel, while the continental breakfast is far better than the American style. Was convenient for my one night stay as it was close to my meeting.

Dear Guest.

Thank you for your positve review. We do have a category of rooms called longstay rooms that are larger and has a small kitchen area, so if you were to stay for a longer period of time I would recommend that you contact the reception to book such a room.

Hope to see you again soon at Quality Hotel Expo.

We arrived at the hotel around half past 4 pm. The room was cold upon check in. One can expect the heater to be on when the temperature outside is lower than 10 degrees. We switched on the heater and it took a long time for the room to be warm. We tried calling the reception - no one picked up, The excuse was that the reception was too busy to answer the telephone.
Bathroom floor was terrible cold as the hotel had turned off the heating of the floors due to some "Save the World Project".
Parking was in the basement of the hotel which had to be paid for
My husband had a meeting the following morning, after which we were to explore Oslo as it was my first visit to Norway. But we deiced against as the room was not comfortable to stay another night.
Breakfast buffet was good

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. All rooms that are occupied by guests have a standard set temperature. In the room it is possible to adjust the temperature up or down by three degrees from the set temperature. We only heat the bathroom floors during the winter / cold season and it is unfortunately not possible to adjust the heat on the bathroom floors individually. We have slippers for sale in the reception for guests who desire this.

Hope to see you again at Quality Hotel Expo.

Best Regards,

Frederik Lindvik

This is an excellent hotel and the location was perfect for the trade fair over the road but the big downside was lunch gets extremely busy. The hotel building is shared with an oil company and along with all of its employees and other people for events in the lobby it does get very busy. The rooms (for Norway pricing) are excellent and good value and the WiFi is free and good. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent and breakfast was very good. My advice would also be to request a room that is not overlooked as mine was by the oil company offices.

5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

Stayed here two nights for the Springsteen Concerts in April. Hotel room is clean, well organized, and a reasonable value for the money. The included free breakfast was quite expansive with many good choices. Amazing to be back at the hotel within 5 minutes of leaving the arena! Staff is friendly and helpful with directions. Food choices for dinner within the hotel not too good (only 1 restaurant and a coffee shop) and not much in the immediate area. You can take the bus to downtown oslo, around a 20 minute ride, for sightseeing and many restaurants. I would certainly stay at this hotel again.

Best way from the airport is to take the airport express train to the Lysaker station, and then the #31 bus (or a taxi) to the hotel. Cab from the airport to the hotel was >$200 (ouch) when we arrived jet lagged from the US. Took the train back to the airport!!

Room Tip: Room that face the sea have a much nicer view.
