“Lovely cottage in stunning rural location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 20, 2012 for a stay in November 2012

The owners were very helpful - we were offered stair gates, travel cots and high chairs for our children, and the cottage itself is generally child friendly.
The property itself is beautiful - welcoming, full of character and decorated to a very high standard inside. We loved the location - although remote, the cottage is just a short drive from Carsington Water, which has a fabulous visitor centre and lots to do, and 15-20 mins from Matlock.
Definitely recommended.

“Great welcome and excellent location.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012 for a stay in October 2012

We stayed in October half-term, with our two children aged 10 and 12. The welcome we received was excellent. Natalie and David have created a stylish and well decorated cottage adjoining their organic farm. It is the finishing, thoughtful touches which really count - the provision of tea bags, squash and ketchup for the kids, dishwasher tablets, plus fresh eggs and even occasionally home-baked treats delivered to your door. Who needs five star luxury, when you have five star hospitality!
It was also great to have broadband internet access (included) and a DVD stocked with a good family library of films.
The farm itself is a working one which for us and the kids was a plus. We really enjoyed walking our dog around the farm after we were given an exclusive guided tour by David, encountering lambs, cows and llamas (or were they alpacas?) and of course the lovely views.
The location of the property is very good for Carsington Water (a local reservoir with good walking and cycling, and Dovedale (15 mins), Matlock (20 mins), Buxton (30 mins) and Ashbourne (our favourite town with an excellent cheese shop and bakers -10 mins) are also within easy drive. Finally, if all that unspoilt countryside and Peak District vistas get too much you can remedy that with a trip to Alton Towers which is about 25 mins drive away, so it is possible to combine a morning's walk with an afternoon's thrill ride on Oblivion!
You will need to bring your wellies - there's some mud around, but if you don't want that then why stay on a farm?

Liked best: Location and welcome
