“An awesome romantic getaway!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2011

If you want a feeling of having your own private resort you need to stay here! There are a limited number of rooms available at Loma that all provide the feeling of a private condo or penthouse rental.
The unit we stayed in had two good sized bedrooms and one smaller room that would be fine for a child. The two bigger bedrooms each had their own bathrooms with hand tiled showers. The bathrooms were also spacious and were a pleasnat surprise for what we normally expect. There was an open spaced living area including a dining table, breakfast bar, full kitchen, and living room with flat screen tvs and a dvd player. We had a nice balcony over looking the pool and amenities with a shade. Everything was clean and seemed well maintained.
We went in off season and the staff may have been scaled back. There was a day we had the entire pool to ourselves! English was definately a second language at the resort but it was manageable.
There is an open air restaurant and our food was decent, priced reasonably from what we experienced in Town. Service was slow but hey, you're on vacation!
This resort offers high end spa treatments including a salt pool and hot and cold underground showers. I did not attend these but spoke to people who did and all seemed to enjoy it.
The resort is not on the main hotel strip but it is within walking distance if you take the mostly paved route along the resorts golf course. You can also get a golf cart ride to the beach from the resort although the resort's reserved "beach" is very small and sometimes already taken over by the locals! We found we were able to easily avoid a taxi ride into Town by taking the golf cart to the beach and walking a short disctance to the public beach access which leads directly to the main road and landed us right in Town - near the Super Mercado and several good places to eat and shop.
My only complaint would be that the back of our room shared a hallway with a maid's closet and they would start very early in the morning and talk VERY LOUDLY!
We got a great package for air and hotel - but it was the off season! I went with Family but would love to go back for a romantic getaway with a loved one!

Room Tip: different # of bedrooms in units!

I am a little late posted this review, but last year my girlfriend and I had an absolutely wonderful vacation 1-8 Oct at the Pacifica Resort in Ixtapa. The room, staff and food were terrific and well worth the price. As an American traveling to Mexico you always wonder if there is enough English spoken to be able to communicate with the staff and this was never an issue. All of the staff welcomed us with open arms and took great care of both of us during the stay. They have several nicely maintained pools and I highly recommend anyone consider purchasing one of their meal and drink packages. The meal package also came with one free meal in each of the resorts restaurants which were terrific. The El Faro restaurant included with your package has an incredible view of the bay and great food. The buffet breakfasts, lunches and dinners were very good. Now, they did serve some traditional Mexican style dishes that we Americas may not have had before, but there was plenty of quantity and variety to go around in my mind to suit anybodies tastes. There were plenty of events and the resort put on a different theme show every night. The beach was clean, the water warm and clear with spectacular Sunsets. This was a very family friendly environment and the grounds were large enough that I never felt crowded by other guests. I highly recommend if you are athletic taking the rain forest bike tour, this was a great ride with a very knowledge tour guide. The only downside to the resort is it is located on the side of a mountain, so you do need to be able to climb stairs. Of course this is what gives the resort those great views.

All and all I would highly recommend anyone considering Pacifica Resort Ixtapa for one of your future vacations.

We stayed here over the Christmas and New Year period in Dec 2010. The hotel itself is beautiful, it's set in perfectly manicured gardens and is between Ixtapa and Zihuateanejo. You can easily get a cab from the hotel to either of the towns and both are very different. Ixtapa very family and touristy, and Zihuateanejo more real Mexico. The staff at the hotel, Felix and Ricardo in the Office, Arturo the Bar Manager, Inez the waitress and Cesar the waiter were all so friendly and helpful. The hotel has an amazing pool area and you also have the option of a 10 minute walk or being driven in a golf cart down to the beach area. This is a sectioned off area with umbrella's and beach loungers and waiter service from Cesar. The beach was clean & beautiful and the water warm - heaven. Rooms are huge, and have everything you need and the daily maid service was great, leaving pretty little flower arrangements everyday on the bed. The restaurant at the hotel La Luna de Shiva was excellent, the chef was friendly and the food delicious. The restaurant with the most amazing view over the whole Ixtapa Bay, connected with the hotel called "La Pampa" also had delicious food. Make sure you have a ride on the Gondola down to the beach and back. We took a Catamaran Trip one day from Zihuatanejo (arranged by Felix at the hotel) which was great fun, beautiful scenery, lots of drinks and snacks all included. The Thalasso Spa Couldn't recommend this hotel enough, as our stay was such a wonderful one.

If you are looking for a great place to relax and be treated like a king then this is the place for you. This is our fourth year to this resort and I will continue to come back each year. The staff are always friendly and courteous. The rooms are the cleanest I have ever had in Mexico. The pool and spa areas are surrounded with peaceful music not the boom boom that you get at all inclusive resorts. Amazing place if you want to relax and enjoy a little golf.

What's not great about a break from old man winter in February? We stayed 8 days and enjoyed every minute. We traded with Global Vacation Network and were able to opt into the 2 meal plan which provided all beverages, adult and otherwise, a hearty breakfast and one additional daily meal. We thought this was an excellent value - plus I didn't feel like cooking on this vacation. It included one dining visit to El Faro, along with one meal at El Suspiro in Zihuat; but never made it -- but heard it's excellent. Also, Tulipanes, Bugambilias & Moon Bar.

It was a coin toss for best meal between Bugambilia's & Moon Bar. Marcos was a delight, preparing an incredible Caesar Salad & Shrimp w/Sheri Sauce in Risotto "tableside" at Bugambilia. Moon Bar featured Asian cuisine. Mary and David took good care of us as we dined on seafood with our toes in the sand as the ocean waves crashed a short distance away on El Palmar beach. We enjoyed beach "Palapa" service most days. Get up early to reserve! Yurani and Oscar served it up with a bright smile!

My husband enjoyed snorkeling along the rocks and saw many species; stingrays, starfish, blowfish, blue coral and sea urchins. He also went diving with Frederic Bochet. His dive shop is right on site. He's PADI trained a provides certifications right at the resort.. On his 2 tank dive, he heard Whales! He was totally amazed.

For me, well, I'm the beach girl and this beach is AMAZING!!!! This segment of beach seemed to be the best. I noticed when you walk farther down the beach there's alot more undertow which makes it difficult to enter the water and just float in the salty sea. It's about 2 miles long; SO great for walk. What's not awesome about living in a bathing suit by day, and dressing for dinner in a sundress every evening?

This resort does have a LOT of stairs, but provides a courtesy shuttle to get you around the complex. Good workout! The town is about a 10 minute walk away either by beach or street where you can shop or dine. Great "mercado" for souveniers or authentic Mexican made clothing.

All in all, Pacifica has as much to do as you'd like; Yoga, Spanish & Cooking Lessons, water aerobics, kids activities, or just languish by the pool or swim in the warm sea. One note'; the Beds were "firm" if not '"hard". The kitchens had all the utensils if you want to cook. Do yourselves a favor; learn some spanish to enjoy your new friends.

Take in all this place has to offer. We'rll be back again next year.

I think it's the nicest place to stay in Ixtapa. On a hillside overlooking the bay and the hotels.Exchanged through RCI and had to do all inclusive. The buffet quality was only fair, but Buganvilla, El Faro, were good and El Suspiro in Zihat was outstanding. The staff was exceptional and they went out of their way to be nice. One night my wife did not finish her meal and the manager came over to and asked if the food was "to her liking because he noticed that she hardly ate her meal" That has never happened in the USA. He then told us that htey would make any meal for us, ever if t was not on the menu !!!!!! Wow. Yhe only negative is that on Saturday nights, the disco in town plays loud music from midnight till 6am and the sound goes right up to the resort

Beautiful Place--the location. Many, many stairs with a gondola and no adequate map, but staff was very very good in all ways. El Faro Restaurant had the BEST Caesar Salad we've ever had anywhere and the service and view was something spectacular.
Entertainment is geared to family with a theme every night on a stage. Several restaurants and prices are about the same as in Portland, Oregon :).
