3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 21, 2012 via mobile

The buffet always was poorly organized as no one obey the line to get food and food was not always maintain nice looking. My room had the cable disconnected call front desk for service end up fixing it myself there never a follow up call on that as if they just blow the problem away. Last night power was out and no one was good to let us know what was the problem Never got an apologie for the inconvenience The hotel is just ok but nowhere close to 5 star

Fantastic been here twice now. Feb 2010, Feb 2012 and going back Feb, 2013 just booked 12 nights 13 day trip. Took 10 friends with us this last year they loved it. Staff fantastic, Carmen is the best, Jesus is wonderful, Jorge is great!!! We had a small problem with Orbitz with whom we booked through no fault of the hotels at all. The hotel worked with us pretty well on it. Some of us girls toook a tour to the tile factory, coconut platation and to Petatzlan (spelling??) it was wonderful and felt perfectly safe. The church there is gorgeous, we will be going back there again on 2013 trip to see more of it and spend more time there our tour guide was great. The hotel is right on the beach, fantastic, the food is good but can get to be repetitive, try to mix it up. Would love to see more seafood choices being we are at the ocean. But overall a wonderful, fantastic trip and can't wait for 6 of us to get there this coming year!!!

Room Tip: Ask for the superior pool view rooms behind the lobby, no tower, call the hotel and make sure your r...

It's not the first time i went there, and i did return because the services... Sea Front Rooms are great, pool is nice and location is perfect! The best thing i can tell you about my customer experience is the proffessionnal service of the concierge! His name is Jorge, and day after day, he's there to answer any question or help you if you need something!

This is an excellent cost-value resort, the hotel facility is very good but please do not make the mistake to expect someting compared with a big city Presidente Intercontinental hotel, if you want to have the most luxury room you may need to book it with the hotel directly and not to the low rate you may get through this site that are mostly the standard rooms. The food was very good in quality and taste.

Room Tip: Pool rooms are noisy

My daughter got married on the beach in front of the hotel this year and it could not have been more magical! Everything was perfect, all of the staff was very helpful with everything, even the smallest of details. The set up was amazing, it definitely exceeded our expectations. It was very formal, they even had very nice center pieces for the tables so we did not have to bring them with us or waste our vacation shopping. They placed everything on the beach, even the dance floor! They set up a beautiful gazebo for the ceremony, chairs for the guests, which probably took them longer to set up than the 15 minute ceremony, but they still did it for the comfort of our guests! The waiters had cocktails for everyone ready as soon as the ceremony was finished to celebrate the moment, which was a wonderful detail that you would not think to do but they did (one of many little details that the staff at the hotel did that made my daughters day so magical) The meal was delicious, the head chef of the hotel spoke with my daughter and her now husband to ask them what they would like to taste for their meal, they choose the most common, a beef and a chicken dish. They set a time to taste the meals, the chef personally prepared the different plates for them to taste and served each dish, including the soups and desserts (they had placed their initials on the plate and the words "nuestra boda" which means our wedding, they thought it was just for the tasting, but they wrote it on every plate on the date of the wedding, they had 100 guests attend the wedding, we were amazed!). They were blown away with the flavors the chef had chosen. They were not expecting the wedding meal to be quite as delicious since they would be preparing 100 plates instead of 1, but it was! Not 1person out of 100 complained, it was truly exquisite!! All of the staff was super, not only at the wedding but for the entire 2 weeks we stayed at the hotel. If you are looking for a fabulous wedding (or a super vacation) without all of the hassle I would definitely recommend this hotel, they take care of everything for you so all you have to do is enjoy every moment of your special day and your vacation. We would all recommend this hotel to family and friends!

Room Tip: Ocean view (tower) rooms were quieter, but the families with small children found the rooms around t...

We stayed at this Horrible Hotel during this days 06/27/ 2011 and stayed till the 07/30/2011
now Iam posting this beacouse I will never get over of how horrible and terrible our experience was at this hotle..same food over and over ..the lobby and pools are great but the rooms...are a nightmare..with mold and dirty smelly rooms..I have about 19 photographs about how terrible this rooms..are,,,please do your self a favour and do not stay at this Hotel...if you want to avoid a health hazzard..MOLD ALL OVER THE ROOMS ..!!
All was going well on the reception till we got to our rooms 1509 and 1510 we all were so exited as we should my 82 year mother came along with us but as soon as we start getting to know the rooms we start finding this very disturbing situations: Very old TV sets that also in both rooms did not worked, we intent to take a shower and the bathtub got clogged, one of the rooms was for 3 Adults so we ask for another bed they brought us a HORRIBLE bed that look definitely to a Psychiatry Hospital in a Horror movie, then bathrooms
extremely dirty, floors all clogged with fungus and bacteria, curtains all raggedy and yellow when clearly at one time they were white, definitely not what expected from a 5 STAR HOTEL PLUS backed up by INTERCONTINENTAL name.. Of course we immediately try to solve the problem while there was no Director on Duty we had to speak to a Gentleman that say he was in Charge Miguel is his name, he said there was nothing to do because all the rooms looked the same so our anger and deception build up we got ready to go down stairs to the reception desk and we got trapped for like 15 minutes in the elevator(there is just 2 elvators with got stocked in the left side one).
Miguel the reception guy offer another ugly room, with no view to the ocean like the ones that we paid for and over looking the pools not what we wanted,so we had to wait till the next day Tuesday 29 , now food (Ingredients), same over and over just in different styles but same food(Ingredients) for Breakfast,Lunch Dinner !!!!!

When we had the opportunity to talk to the Hotel Director we could not even Initiate all our concerns WAY TO MANY FOR INTERCONTINENTAL NAME 4 star Hotel.
He Offer to switch us rooms, we just took the rooms no matter we could spend Not any more for one single minute our Year family Reunion energy in such a
NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE!!.

Dear guest,

Thank you for taking your time to post your comments.

I would like first to apology for the conditions of the room, it is definitively not our standard and I will work with my team on this point. We had a program with the Engineer and the Housekeeper manager to make a preventive maintenance in all the rooms to avoid this kind of problem. I am very surprise that it takes you so long to post your comments in TripAdvisor and I am quite sure that I did not have the pleasure to meet you during your stay. But my true concern is about your picture: the one with molds everywhere: on the bed, on the bed’ sheet, on the wall, on the painting… Maybe we can fail on one or two points but we must be honest we do not have molds in our beds’ sheet or on the wall or on the painting, so do not try to fool us.

For the elevator issue, we must be honest, it can happen everywhere… My maintenance staff is trained to solve this problem the faster they can, always taking care of the security of our clients.

In reference of your comment about the food, basically our Chef cooks meats (chicken, beef and pork), fish, vegetables, pasta and local dishes… So it is logical that he changes the recipes every day so our guest can find: Mexican food, International food (French, Italian, Sushi), snack food (Hamburger, fish burger, veggie burger, chicken burger etc...) in buffet or a la carte.

We are very sorry that we do not meet your expectation.

Best regards,

SMC

My family and I just spent Easter week at the Presidente Ixtapa. It was my husband's 40th birthday. We have been coming here since my eldest daughter was 2 years old, she is 11 now. Although we typically go during Xmas and NY's we went for Easter. It is easy to share for us why we return. The staff is top notch. Honestly, we have traveled to many places/countries but bar none, we have not found the same type of service anywhere. Where taste buds differ among us, even the most pickiest eater was happy. The room service club sandwich was extremely popular for my youngest. My husband and i lived off "tiraditas" (ceveche dish) the whole week with side of chips (totopo) and guacamole. And although Victor has been our beach server in the past, we were just as lucky to have Carlos and his fantastic hospitality. My favorite drink was "la lesbiana" if you like beer and lime and a splash of spicy tomato sauce...you will like this one. I asked if this was a common drink all around and Carlos told me that just in mexico...but i did not ask for one when i was walking the town.
We loved the varieties they the restaurants had and we walk to get a gelato (ferrero) across the street every day. This was a good thing because it was probably the only exercise I got and walking around the fiesta mexicana vendors. Jorge Luis, who is the concierge always goes beyond his job to make sure we are happy. So thank you so much for another wonderful experience. We will see you next year. :)

Room Tip: We prefer the pool side or beach front...but we are a family that likes being on the beach all day.
