“Redefines all-inclusive”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013 via mobile

My family of four (kids 11&12) enjoyed a week at Club Med and had an amazing time during a family reunion of 22 cousins, uncles, aunts and grandparents. I can't say enough on how this place is the perfect size providing enough variety of activities and events while not feeling too big. We have visited many all-inclusives and this has reset the bar. Amazing food (we only ate at the buffet or small beach restaurant) and were always happy albeit a bit too full. Drinks were aplenty and there wasn't a feeling of pushiness for tipping, just great service. We found the rooms in the Iguana complex the perfect location for our aged kids. Right by the kids club, near the pool and beach, and close the trapeze. The kids club was amazing. The trapeze was a real standout for kids and adults alike. The pool was a bit warm, but the beach was absolutely exceptional and we spent many hours with the waves. I highly recommend this and expect to go back.

We just finished up a week's stay at Club Med Ixtapa with my 3 children (14, 11 and 8 years old), my parents, my brother and family friends with 2 children (14 and 10 years old). Everyone had a fabulous week soaking up the Mexican sun and enjoying the festive and friendly atmosphere because of the amazing GO team and the general manager Mehdi. We were a large group and the resort offered everyone the flexibility to do the things they enjoyed and no one had to worry about going out to eat or planning a meal. The food in the restaurants was fresh and full of variety each day. Our family filled up on Mexican food for most meals as it was amazingly delicious and they had handmade fresh corn tortillas every day! We all enjoyed the theme nights and the thursday night dinner gala on the soccer field was the highlight of the week. The kids all made great friends and they want to go back next week. We did a ton of sports activities every day. Tennis group lessons in the morning with Juanito, toning class with Stefani, and then Aqua gym with Pedro. All of the exercise allowed us to enjoy all of our meals:-) The other resort activities are fantastic. Our kids loved archery and trapeze and we all went sailing as a family. We cannot say enough positive things about all of the GO staff running the sports (Diego at sailing, Patrick and crew at Trapeze). They made the week so fun for our kids and family. The bar staff is fantastic too. Zach from Canada and Basti (who does a fabulous Michael Jackson show) were so fun and always filling your drink orders with a smile. Even when our kids were going up to the bar for their 5th smoothie of the day! Mehdi is a great general manager and he was everyone. Thanks for a great vacation!

Arrived with a healthy dose of cynicism. Left with a huge amount of respect and appreciation. Like many reviews about this resort, I can't overemphasize the importance of the GO's to our overall experience here. If (i) you have kids, (ii) they are moderately sociable and (iii) you don't mind not being with you kids for most of the day, this place is literally heaven on earth. You drop them off in the morning, you pick them up at 5 (or whenever you want). In the meantime, you do whatever the hell you like, from standing in the ocean with a drink, to surfing or reading. The GO's were trully exceptional. Where they get the energy I have absolutely no idea. I wish I could remember all their names. Starting with Mehdi, the general manager, to Tom Tom, genius French bloke who runs the kids clubs, to Alexis and Nadia, they are just trully amazing human beings. My girls (10 and 8) were balling all the way to the airport on the way back. I wish they cried like that when I left! The shows were great. The food was awesome. But most importantly, my girls felt a sense of freedom and independence that is hard to replicate where we live (LA).

Is this the Four Seasons? No. But who gives a fig, when your kids are taken care of, are having a great time with people who genuinely want to establish a relationship with them.

All good. Again, if you are not too fussy about tables and chairs, or impeccable service, this is the place for you.

Oh, and the sunsets here are amazing. Club Med has nothing to do with that. That's my only complaint.

Room Tip: Iguana. Balcony Room. As close to the Ocean as you can. Rooms that start with a 5.

This was our first visit to club med Ixtapa and we stayed for 4 nights.
The installations (I liked everything but the rooms. We had two rooms at "Muñeca" and the building looks pretty old, the ceiling was falling down, the door lock wasn't working)
The food is good ( we just avoided the salad bar since the first day we found a FLY in the ceaser dressing and the chef didnt do anything about it. there was only one restaurant open + snacks)
The activities are fun ( kayak , archery, soccer, basketball, tennis, ....)
The shows are okay. (Need more organization and AC at the theatre)
The disco night is so boring. (They had the same music and danced the same songs every single night)

Just got back from another amazing Ixtapa trip. The new Chief of Village is fantastic. He is so involved in all aspects of the daily goings on at the club. This year we were treated to a spectacular dinner under the stars which took all day to put together. The club was impeccable as always. Now for my gripe and it is a biggie. The photography situation has changed. Up until last summer we were able to go into photo room and drag and drop our photos to our room number folder and then purchase the dvd at the end of the trip. Last year we also purchased a family sunset photo session. I paid somewhere between $50 and $60 for that plus we got one printed photo with club med frame. THIS year you have to purchase a minimum of 10 prints totaling over $200 dollars in order to get the dvd, yeah that's right $20 per printed picture. What??? This brings my 5 star tripadvisor rating down to 4 because I think it is such a huge rip off.

Room Tip: Try to get something in Iguana around the 5000, you will be closer to the beach and also have better...

This is our 2nd visit to Club Med Ixtapa, and we had an incredible vacation, once again (my very detailed review from last year, Aug. 22, on tripadvisor, still stands true!). We have 3 children, now ages 4, 7 and 9 loved MiniClub. I think this year the GO's are a tighter group, more happy and all so funny together. Mehdi was a very welcoming Chef de Village. We loved that he was in a lot of the shows, doing all the same silly embarrassing things that the GO's do to make everyone laugh. Thank you TomTom, Agustin, Christine, Wanny, Alina, Jenny (Natalie will miss her!) and everyone in MiniClub for your endless energy and smiles. It was fun to arrive this year and be recognized by some of the same GO's, like Agustin and Jenny, they made us feel so welcome.

Once again we stayed in the Sol Suites which we loved...bottom floor, steps to the ocean. Both concierge were wonderful, Claudia and Cynthia. It is well worth staying in the suites, they book all the restaurants so easily, and always follow through with any request we had. We ran into Cynthia more often, and she was so incredibly sweet to our youngest when she was crying or exhausted, thank you Cynthia for always giving her a hug.

This year, I did not only the aqua gym (Quejeao and Pedro were hilarious!), I also took Stephanie's classes (Zumba and Yoga) in the palapa. SO FUN! She is amazing and motivating, and at least the guilt from the eating and drinking is offset by a little morning exercise! Patrick's trapeze show was fearless - don't know how he does it in the heat.

We also did the snorkel excursion this year to Ixtapa Island. If your kids are strong swimmers, this is pretty amazing! (My little one and I stayed at the shore collecting shells) And the lobster lunch afterwards was absolutely delicious. Well worth it.

We once again had a massage in the spa, my neck strain from the prior week was gone after one hour. It was a high quality massage and so relaxing.

Last and definitely not least, we really enjoyed our bartenders Felipe, Antonio, Juan, "Yaya", Saul, Basti, Alexis. Our favorite spot is the palapa next to the Miramar beach restaurant. Felipe remembered us, and greeted us with open arms and a Paloma.

The food and service is exactly what everyone else says, it's all great and Raul and Maria were always smilling and happy to help us.

Only negative was our TV broke twice, but it was fixed as soon as we asked. And our Wifi actually worked this year! If you are in the Sol building, we had to sit literally next to the computer and not move, but then we could get some reception.

We can't wait to return!

I recently took my 2 kids (10 year old son and 16 years old daughter) to Club Med Ixtapa for 1 week in July 2013. I initially wanted to go to a different club med but the kids insisted to return to Ixtapa as they had kept excellent memories from our last year trip. The new "chef du village" (manager) was amazing (no words to discrib him) but here few but not limited to his professionalism, talent, skilful, charming, positive attitude, funny, excellent etc...His excellent personallity with the guests and the kids was the top of the art. He was running the resort professionally yet very friendly and full of energy! He made us feel part of the family. GOs were exceptionally great at their respective areas as well. I love going to the various activities, particularly the sport ones. What made our stay even more rewarding was to meet a family that the kids and I met last year. By the way, that tells you a lot about our fruitful experience that made come for a second time. I highly recommend it for families with or without kids as matter of fact.

Room Tip: We had this time the club family room for 2 kids(1 king size bd and 2 twin size second bd) and mysel...
