“Ixtapa's "Super Wow" Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2010

We have been going to Las Brisas Ixtapa for several years and it is THE BEST hotel in Ixtapa!! The staff does more than they have to, to make sure your stay is pleasant. We went for our 30th anniversary and returned the following year with our kids and grandkids, and all had a great time.. We have read some complaints on the “all-inclusive” package – the website CLEARLY states what is not covered.
The beach has an elevator which takes you steps from the private beach, and there is a shuttle to the numerous pools. We have become friends with some of the staff as the Sr head Chef, Ms. Zully Castillo, and Abel (mater d’ of El Mexicano restaurant) and their devotion to their guests is beyond expectations. Excellent food, excellent service and excellent prices equals an excellent vacation!!

Pros:
oNo matter where your bedroom lies, you are guaranteed an ocean view.
oRooms are spacious and every room (standard) is equipped with a hammock on the baclony so you can relax and watch the sunsets every evening.
oThe food at the restaurants for the most part is really good but very very expensive. Get ready to pay approx ($270-$350 pesos for dinner at least). The nice thing though is that when you order your meal, they bring little appetizers for you for free! And then you also get little desserts for free as well! Can't beat that!
oThe breakfast here is also really good with a variety of Mexican dishes to choose from and a la carte menu as well. When I was there though I was a little disappointed that some of the fruit did not seem as fresh but coffee is great and try their chilaquiles...awesome!
oThis is one of the few hotels in Ixtapa where you have the beach all to yourself with no vendors to bother you!
oOcean was pretty calm and you can take some great pictures!

Cons
oThe pool could use some maintenance. While it is a nice infinity pool there are areas where it looks like it's in awful condition.
oThe restaurant by the beach is very expensive and honestly not worth the price. This time I went the food I ordered was rather bland. I spent like almost $300 pesos just for my lunch and it was only two small things. So not worth the price. I suggest you go to the local beaches where you can get a nice lunch for a cheaper price. Try Playa La Ropa, Playa Linda.
oThe hotel is rather large and it feels literally like you are in a jungle. For this reason, I would caution some people that don't like to walk to stay elsewhere. I personally did not mind.

A few additional tips:
A cab from (one way) the airport to the hotel will typically run you @ $320 pesos (extremely expensive but you have to pay up). If you are traveling in a group, the van will run you @ $600 one way. Don't let them take advantage of you! If you decide you want to go into town, Brisas has a little chart posted out by the roundabout where the taxis are. This is where they tell you what taxis should charge you. When you are coming back to the hotel, I suggest you bargain for a lower price! You will get it!

Try dining too in Zihuatanejo. There are some great places here and the trip should only cost you about $80 pesos. You will find some great souvenirs too and you can take the boats to the different beaches (ie La Ropa, Playa Linda, etc) for really cheap! So worth it! The beaches are gorgeous.

We had a wonderful time at this resort! The rooms were well appointed and everyone had a view of the water. They were modern in style which I really liked. The beach was beautiful...it did take a bit of walking to get there, but it was worth it. As far as I could tell this hotel was the only one with access to this beach. The beach was sandy unlike others in the area which have rock or shell. The service at the hotel was good. Our only complaint was the lack of dining options. It’s a rather small resort with only a few choices. We opted to get room service most nights. On the bright side they will deliver room service to anywhere in the resort. So we would have it delivered to the bar/lounge. The lounge area had great cocktails (good happy hour too) and a wonderful view. We wish they had an all inclusive option for food and drink. We would like to go back and stay in a jacuzzi suite. Overall, we had a terrific time and really enjoyed the resort. We would recommend the resort to our friends and family.

Dear Guest:

We were pleased to know you had a great time in Las Brisas Ixtapa.

In reference to an all inclusive plan, please be informed that this is an European Plan hotel however, we have different meal plan options. When you reserve, ask for the Brisas Gourmet plan which includes breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks and national drinks at any of our restaurants and bars. The difference from all inclusive hotels and ours is that you order your meals a la carte. Some food like shrimps, lobster, lamb and/or fine meat cuts are not included, there is a surcharge.

Thank you for being our guest and look forward to welcome you back in sunny Ixtapa.

Cordially,

The Management.

We have been coming to Ixtapa for 10 years. This hotel is the best in Ixtapa. Rooms are smallish but who stays in the rooms anyway. Now you better not mind walking. The pools are a good 1/4 mile from the hotels and the beach is 10 stories down (u can take the elevator). Service is outstanding and food is good if a little pricey. You can alway go to town (Ixtapa wich is madeup place or Ziuha wich is big city) for cheaper food. But the best part of this hotel is its private beach with food/beverage service. No one trying to sell you anything! Every room has the same magnificent view. Beds are hard so ask for the matress pad right away! Well, we're going back!

We stayed at this hotel twice and would return in a minute! Beauty, luxury, quality, to be able to read on the beach, and for a good night's sleep, this place can't be beat. Yes, the "spring-break" hotels are cheaper, but if you aren't aged 18 to 25, and want to rest and be pampered, this place is for you. If one wants to party, there are lots of fun places in Ixtapa. The service at Las Brisas was wonderful and the food was delicious. I wonder if Isaias is still at the beach? If so, greetings from Mariana from Pennsilvania.
I always sat at the first palapa hut next to the rocks! Thanks for being so nice to us!
¡Y que viva México!

We were able to really relax and enjoy our stay at Las Brisas Ixtapa. There were no crowds at all; as the resort was at 20-30% capacity for the 9 days we stayed. We chose the “Beach Club” option which gave us an ample breakfast from 7 to 11 and excellent free drinks/ hors d'oeuvres from 6p to 7. During these times we were able enjoy the company of the other club members that had traveled to the resort from nearly everywhere. The wait staff was the best I’ve ever had, very attentive while serving us generous portions of quality food and drinks everywhere on the property. The rooms and resort were spotless and tidy at all times, I even commented to my lady how they had one worker whose job was to sweep the walkways all day to remove leaves and fallen berries. We never were in want of anything while at the resort. The low season gave us the time we needed to relax and not have to worry about getting in line with the crowd or beat the crowd to the amenities the resort had to offer. The low season also gave us time to meet new people from everywhere who were also relaxed from the low season mellow atmosphere, no one had to rush to do or go anywhere. Our wonderful “Beach Club” room was 2011 the view was incredible, with a nice morning and evening breezes, the reason for the aptly named resort Las Brisas. On two of the days during our stay that were a little hot, our room welcomed us with cool air conditioning and a nice TV. While not in our room or lounging around the crowd free pool area and beach palapas we would ride a bus into town (Ixtapa=6 pesos 50c US Zihua=9 peso 75c US) so we could shop or eat dinner. When we finished town stuff we would take a cab ride back so we didn’t have to walk up the steep road up to the resort, this cost 5 USD from Ixtapa 7.50 from Zihua. I signed up for a deep sea fishing trip with the activities desk that cost 180.00USD the boat was the “No Problema” and captained by Santo, a well seasoned 28 year old captain who took me to where the marlin were. A few hours after landing the 100lb+ marlin, I made my way back to the resort, cleaned up and took my lovely lady out to dinner in Zihua for some fresh marlin prepared with all the trimmings for only 60 pesos each or 10USD. The resort only has two restaurants open for dinner during the low season, so plan to go into town or other nearby resorts for dinners and more variety. This can be a little pricey, hence the tip about the cooler and shopping in town, the price you save in self made lunches and drinks will more afford a better dining experience at night. Visit Playa La Ropa and Gatos, you will enjoy a day at each place. I heard Ixtapa Island was not worth the trip, but do the sunset catamaran that is cool, Captain Kevin will let you steer the Cat and get a pic too. This time of year to play golf you have to be ready to go at sunrise or it may get to be too hot to play. Drink lots of bottled water!
Useful tips for when you are at the resort:
SUN BLOCK! Use it or fry!
Exchange your currency for peso’s it’s much easier.
If you plan on using your credit card make sure that you notify the card institution that you will be in Mexico, or it may not work.
Personally ask the establishment to see if they take credit cards.
Notify your cell phone carrier so they can activate international calling on your phone.
Stop at the store called “Bodega” in Zihua, and pick up some non perishable snacks, a cooler, water, beer or whatever you would like to drink( good tequila and beer is cheap here!) there is free ice at the resort on each floor.
Buy a “Cool Cup or Cuzzi” because it’s warm and your drink will be too real soon.
When using the activities center always ask if there is a better deal than what is on the board or book.
Only tip the bell hop when you arrive and leave, if they carry your bags to your room.
Tip the valet when he hails a taxi for you; make sure you ask for a cab with A/C.
Pay for all services as you go, you do not want any checkout surprises
Avoid the mini bar and room coffee it’s too expensive.
The beach club is the way to go; you actually save money with this option IF YOU ARE OVER 18
You must ask for your bill after dining or drinking at the bar/pool/beach, Mexicans feel it is rude to present you with a bill, they feel as if they are kicking you out.
I’m not an all inclusive fan especially during the low season, I’d advise against it.
There is a small miscellaneous store, beachwear store, cigar store, gift shop all in the lobby, in case you need something in a pinch.
You’ve got to have a whole Coconut Pina Colada! It’s the best drink in the world.
Tips for off the resort activities:
Upon arrival at the airport, be careful with the car rental escorts, salesmen and porters, they all will take a shot to set up an appointment with a timeshare sales group, do not fall for the giveaways they are promising!
Wash and dry or sanitize your hands every time you get an opportunity to do so.
Take the bus to shop in the shopping district in Ixtapa/Zihua cab ride back. Renting a car is not really needed unless you are with 4 or more.
Take a cab back to the resort, the walk is up hill from either town.
Stay in tourist areas this is a universal rule.
Talk to other vacationers and ask where they’ve been what they did how much they paid, they can help you from getting “taken for a ride”
Ask the concierge to make dinner reservations for you.
Do not wear flashy jewelry.
Do not carry large amounts of cash or pesos, bring only what you need leave the rest in the safe.
Carry copies of your driver’s license and passport, leave the original locked in the safe located in your room.

Las Brisas Hotel is the best Hotel in Ixtapa. It has its own beach and every room is big with a view of the ocean. You half to be in shape to get around the property. Things are spread out. Use the pool shuttle to get to the pool. They will call it for you anytime. The Bus stop is to far away to walk to. Taxi run 5 to 7 dollars a trip anywhere you need to go. The service is outstanding and the food on the beach is wondeful. Go before June and you will be about the only american there. Not alot of people before June. Go above the Hotel on the moutain to El Farro Restaurant. This was the best resturant I have ever eaten at. Beautiful views and music. The food was outstanding. You can ride the cable cart after you eat down to the beach for a walk. I have traveled alot and Las Brisas is the best Hotel I have ever stayed in. It is not a party Hotel. This Hotel is more for older people or families who just want to relax. The Hallway that is front of the room is tile so you do here noise at night but not bad enough you can not sleep. P.S. get a massage there. Make it so your trip has you there on a Sunday night. Take a taxi and go ZIH bay by the pier. There is a big fiesta with lots of dancing.
