“Traditional”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 2, 2014

We popped in for afternoon tea last summer and glad we did. There was a lovely selection of both sandwiches and cakes. Really nice atmosphere.

“Lovely setting. Good venue for meetings etc.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 11, 2014

Over the years I have visited Mulberry House a number of times to attend meetings and training courses, including one or two occasions when I stayed overnight.

Most recently I was there for a breakfast meeting of a Christian men's group. True to form, the breakfast didn't disappoint and all the staff with whom I came into contact were friend;y and helpful.

All of this is good, though not unique, but the rural setting certainly adds something too.

Without doubt a good meeting venue within easy reach of Chelmsford but with a definite out of town feel.

“Cheap & cheerful”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2014

Stayed at hotel after celebrating with family in the function room. Staff very caring & considerate and couldn't do more for you. I stayed in the courtyard rooms, very dated and old fashioned but considering they are not a chained property I'm sure refurbs don't come cheap. Suited purpose but recommend you stay in the main building if here for a more luxurious stay but don't expect 4/5* standards, it is as it says on the tin 3*. Thank you to the guys on the bar and breakfast lady!

“Christmas Day Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 27, 2013

Had the most special Christmas dinner at Mulberry House. I chose roast beef as my main course (not a lover of turkey) and how perfect it was cooked. John the chief chef managed to serve perfect meals for 190 people an amazing achievement by any ones standard, yet to hear not a single grumble is truly amazing!
The staff serving the meals were excellent, always on hand without being intrusive. A special mention to Claire who as always goes that extra mile on customer service.

“All show and no knickers”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2013

Private function, 15 people. Have to place your food order in advance! Staff welcoming and polite but something missing. Had to request the heating be switched on, no ice in the drinks and bottled lager at near room temperature. Requests for extra bread rolls necessitated a delay whilst they were cooked. The memorable thing was the lamb served with the turkey roast. Now the invisible chef (we never saw him and only got messages third hand) insisted it was not lamb but dark turkey leg meat. As 5 of the party were certain it was lamb and not turkey we requested the remains to be packaged as we intended to take it to a third party for appraisal. The meat was never returned. A brief experience, but not to be repeated.
Nothing like the website.
