Hotel Aqua Luna at face value looks like a winner - it's website and exterior gives it the image of a brand new hotel / hostel with a pool, jacuzzi, restaurant / bar, clean rooms with / without kitchen, a/c, private bathrooms, etc. It does have all this but it doesn't quite come together in the way one would expect.
My boyfriend and I decided to stay here for 3 nights and if we liked it we were going to extend our stay out to 3 weeks. We were very happy that we didn't pay 3 weeks up front due to our experience here.
After paying for our room, Adriana spent the next ten minutes telling us the "rules" of the "hotel", which were very patronising. Such rules included not being able to have two people use the same computer at once, and if we did we would both be charged for its use. After we were told all of the rules, we were given a checklist of all items in our kitchenette that we had to tick off and return to her to confirm what we had and what was missing. Upon entering our room, the quality of the kitchen items on this list was dismal. We even had to check off that we had 3 chairs in the rooms... This simply showed complete lack of trust from the beginning.
There was a strong emphasis that Aqua Luna was a hotel not a hostel. My experience with hotels with kitchenettes provided is that detergent and a dish cloth are provided. Not here, we were told to go buy our own and that the hotel doesn't provide this.
The service at Aqua Luna was very poor to the point of it being rude. We found the attitude of Adriana very hard to digest, which has been rare in our last 12 months of travel. We tried being polite, ignoring here rude responses at first thinking it was a bad day. As this continued for the 3 nights we were at the hostel, we realised she must have taken a disliking to us. She was extremely friendly to certain people at the hostel (groups of Australian guys) and didn't give others the time of the day.
Aqua Luna has so much potential and if the service was improved, it could be excellent. The small things such as service and kindness count for so much to travellers.... this didn't exist for us at Aqua Luna.
