“Cornish short break at great B&B”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 25, 2014

My husband and I recently stayed for 3 nights at The White House. The premises are spotless and the bedrooms well-equipped with a lovely comfy bed and ample shower facilities. Elaine and Warwick are delightful hosts who made us feel like it was a home from home. The B&B is exceptionally well located for all the great beaches and places of interest like Padstow. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: We had a peek and all the rooms look great!

Lovely B & B. Super clean and wonderful breakfasts. The owners Warwick and Elaine were very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of local information and suggestions of places to visit. Ideally situated to visit both North and South coasts.

My husband and I stayed at The White House over the bank holiday weekend in May 2014, the B&B is super clean, easy to find, relaxing and comfortable and close to all the outstanding villages and coastline in the area.

We were met by the owners who were super friendly and were full off local knowledge on places to visit. Warwick and Elaine were so nice and made us feel very welcome.

The breakfast was awesome too, so much choice in a relaxing environment. All the small details were thought of and taken care of, as well as us.

Firstly, the good points
1. Close to everything in Cornwall
2. Warwick, the owner is one of the most charming, helpful people you could ever wish to meet, with excellent recommendations of where to eat, offering a wine glass for your room when he saw you coming in with a bottle, pointing out a DVD library so you could relax in your room, you get the idea, he is just perfect for the role of mein host.
3. The breakfast, excellent quality and plenty of it. Wonderful choice.
4. The decor.
5. Very clean

Unfortunately, there is one huge point that let The White House

The bed, I hate to say it, but they are absolutely appalling, not in cleanliness, but they are:
1. Too small
2. Too hard
3. They all have footboards, so if you are slightly above average height, like I am, trying to get a good nights sleep is absolutely impossible, of course I would say sleep across the bed, but you can't without jabbing your partner in the back because they are so small width wise.

When I bought this point up to Warwick to see if they had any beds which didn't have footboards he said, "Sorry, we haven't, you're not the first person to say that" If that's the case then do something about it, not later but sooner.

Consequently my partner and I had two poor nights of sleep whilst staying at the White House.

In conclusion, if you're of average height (probably 5' 10" or below) then visit The White House, you'll have a fabulous time, but if you're any taller, then you'd better be a good sleeper with an understanding partner.

We stayed at the White House for 3 nights while we toured family history sights in Cornwall. Elaine & Blake Warwick were really friendly and spent a lot of time sitting and talking with us in the parlor, and offering to make coffee or hot chocolate at any hour. The Ring-O-Bells pub was just a block away and we ate all our dinners there - an extremely warm & inviting pub. St. Issey is a small village where everyone knows everyone, and Elaine took us next door to meet the neighbors -- turns out they were relatives of ours. The White House is exquisitely decorated and furnished, and Elaine's breakfasts aren't just good, they're great. One of our best B&B experiences in the UK.

Room Tip: We stayed in the more expensive room, and were quite happy with it.

)We chose The White House after reading up on reviews for places to stay near Padstow and are very pleased to say that we were not disappointed with our eventual choice. Our bedroom was lovely - selflessly clean, modern, stylishly decorated and furnished, and VERY comfortable. An added bonus (we stayed in a room at the back of the house) was the panoramic view across the fields to the sea beyond! Breakfast is taken in a well appointed dining room and if you fill up here, especially with the fantastic cooked options, you certainly will have no need to eat during the day! There is a large, stylish and comfortable lounge for guests to use if you want, a nice touch was the fruit and chocolates for guests to help themselves to. Elaine and Warwick were the perfect hosts - friendly and very helpful. We would certainly stay here again if we are in the area and would recommend The White House to anyone wanting to stay in the Padstow area too.

We booked thru the Internet for one night but felt so at home we stayed an extra night. Elaine and Warick are simply charming people who did their utmost to make our stay a pleasant experience. The bedroom was very comfortable and to have the use of a downstairs sitting room made us feel right at home.
Thanks Elaine and Warick, Karen and Max
