“Great food but not cheap.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2012

We stayed here as a party of four early on in the evening. The staff were very friendly and the bar was lovely and clean but does seem a bit dated with bright red upholstery. and "booth" type seating. The food was excellent, hot and very tasty,it was however not cheap for what is really a "pub" rather than a restaurant. I had a Sirloin Steak which was tasty but £21.95 and that came with only 1 mushroom. the chips were superb though. Most meals average about£15.00 per head.

“Pickwick Inn - Superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

I have visited the Pickwick many times and find it superb whatever the occasion. Whether it is having a family roast on Sunday by the real fire, bringing friends for a special occasion, or sharing a bowl of fabulous chunky chips whilst the children burn off some energy in the outside play area. There is a stunning view over the countryside and out to sea. The owners and staff always make you feel so welcome and there is the warm atmosphere of a real traditional pub. The food is really exceptional using good quality local produce, fantastic choice and there are some desserts to die for. It is always a pleasure to visit.

“Food good, shame about the welcome”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 29, 2012

We have visited the Pickwick Inn on 3 separate occasions and each time we hope that the staff will be more welcoming. You may well ask why go back again but the look of the pub is idylic and if you walk past the childrens play area there is a beautiful view of Padstow and Rock and the food is good.

There is a good varied menu and the Sunday roast seems to be very popular with the locals so perhaps it is only tourists that are not welcome. When we visited this week the girl behind the bar was reading a book and not really interested in serving. Admitedly there was only us and 2 others (locals) in the bar but reading a book is a big no, no and this does not give a good impression. On each of our visits the staff have not been very friendly and I feel that training in customer service/hospitality should be on the agenda!!!

“rather pricey”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

We ate well here as a family. Whilst the food was good, I did find it rather expensive, especially as I live in France.
The idea of the family room was excellent, but I would suggest adding some curtains and other washable soft furnishings to make the room a little less echoy - at least for the sake of other customers.

“Great find but drinks and crisps only!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

After a long walk on Camel trail and country lanes, a great find, or so we thought! Although 3pm when we arrived we were hoping for a late lunch or at least some food (baguette or sandwich) but nothing was being served again until 5.30. We also had our dog with us but dogs were not allowed inside. Although set in the countryside, would appear to be catering more for the gastro market than passing walkers, many of whom have their dogs with them, who require flexible eating times and a welcome for their pooches.
