We were also part of the wedding party and I totally concur with what has been said.
The room price was extremely good value, especially when compared to other B and Bs.
The breakfast was lovely, food was organic and fantastic quality.
The only con for me would be the limited access to the swimming pool, it is not available between 10 and 4, we were busy so it was not a problem, but if the weather is good, be aware that you cannot relax by it.
I would still book this again, we loved the rooms and the honesty bar was a really good touch, which we made use of!

Room Tip: Go for the rooms with the bath in the bedroom, they are amazing!

We were recommended Launceston Farm by family as we were attending a wedding in the area. We were very impressed upon our arrival both with the establishment itself as well as the courteous and welcoming greeting we received from the owner Sarah.

We were allocated the Orchard room and in total have seen four out of the six rooms as family were staying here too. This is by far our favourite room with charm, character and a bathroom that is as big as my lounge!

However, all rooms are well appointed and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with any of them if you choose to stay here.

Breakfast was a treat with all produce locally sourced with much if it from the farm itself. Whilst some people have commented on the communal dining experience, I found it very pleasant and enjoyable.

When reading negative reviews about this B&B I can honestly say that we have not experienced any of these issues. Yes the check in time was specific but this is a working farm and Sarah was able to be flexible given that we had travelled from so far away by asking if we wanted a different check in time. Basically, the proprietors couldn't do enough for us.

In conclusion, this is a great place in an idyllic location with great facilities where you can get some real "me time".

Launceston Farm is an amazing B&B, we stayed here with members of our family for a wedding and booked four of the more expensive rooms. Sarah was a great host and nothing was too much trouble for her. Breakfast was beautiful as are the rooms, and the honesty bar was also a really nice touch! Everything was spotless but Sarah was happy to allow us to stay in our rooms until the wedding in the afternoon. We are thinking about staying in the cottage for a week in the near future and would recommend this place to anyone!! Absolutely superb!!

I stayed here a few weeks ago midweek as I was working in the area (so unfortunately was there only one night!). The Farm House is absolutely lovely, the setting is so peaceful, it was lovely to wake up to the cows being herded across the road and to see chickens out of one of the windows and a little courtyard with fountain out the other. The room was absolutely lovely, gorgeous mis-match furniture, amazingly comfy bed, massive shower and roll top bath in the bedroom.

It reminds me very much of the Pig Hotel in the New Forest, except it is half the price and it has a nicer, more relaxing, original feel to the place!

It is down to earth, simple luxury and the breakfast- well I didn't eat for the rest of the day! I will be back and hopefully for a leisure trip rather than business next time to make the most of the outdoor pool!

Context:

- One-night stay for a couple.

Pros:

- Lovely room (cosy spacious room in farm turned rural B&B).

- Location: quiet village setting, with excellent gastro-pub within 5 minutes stroll in idyllic setting.

- Excellent breakfast.

- Swimming pool (open air, not used, but other guests said it was good although the water slightly cold).

- Nice touches: Free WIFI with no password, a small chestnut tree (sapling) that you could take with you and plant in your home.

Cons:

Temperature on shower did not go to cold.

You just get the feeling that Sarah Worrall would rather be doing something else rather than B &B catering. Room was fairly comfortable after a long and difficult journey with everything we needed but no "soul". Quiet countryside but road outside is obviously a "rat-run". The description of breakfast turned out to be better than the reality but was acceptable. It may be a Wolsey Lodge etc but not taking credit cards in this day and age serves to confirm our view that the venture (certainly for single night stays) is viewed as " all a bit too much trouble"

We visited April 2012 for four nights. We had a room in the main house - Orchard - which was loveley. Very comfortable bed, extra big bathroom - all the usual amenities available.
Breakfast is very good; not a huge choice but everything is well -cooked & well presented, no-one goes out hungry.
The main attraction of this place is the situation; its near the top of a shallow valley which meanders down throught the Tarrant villages (of which they are several); the garden of the property is also lovely, unfortunately the weather wasn't good enough to eat outside.
Please remember this IS a working farm so there is farm machinery & animals around; Sarah;s son does offer tours around the farm if you want. Personally I would say this is NOT however really a great place for children, not alot to do.
Drawbacks ? maybe the fact that Sarah only offers dinner twice a week (Mon & Fri) & there is only one pub within walking distance that does food, otherwise you have to drive somewhere.
However there are several pubs around, & restaurants in Blandford Forum which are also very good. Sarah is great hostess & we had no problems whilst we were there.

Hi Chrishel

Thank you for your very complimentary review. Orchard is my favourite room. We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay.

I wanted to respond quickly to a complaint of yours that Launceston Farm isn't a great place for children as there isn't much for them to do. Firstly don't market our selves as a family holiday destination but as a luxurious and tranquil retreat for adults. Whilst we love children - I have two toddlers of my own - we don't encourage children to come to the farm because it's a get-away for parents - an opportunity for them to take a break - and lots of guests come to us specifically because that it was what we offer.

Thank you again for your review and we look forward to welcoming you again soon.

Kindest regards

Catherine
