“Refuge at the end of England”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 18, 2013

To me, East Anglia has always felt more remote than Lands End. And Sea Palling is as remote as it gets. A flat country won from the sea through constant struggle. This B&B is an ideal place to stay to visit this area. Despite the feeling of remoteness there is a lot to see and do in the area (and Norwich is only 30 minutes away).

The old Barn has been beautifully converted. You enter a large central living/dining area open to the roof. On either side at two levels are the bedrooms and the family's rooms. Our room upstairs was well designed and comfortable.

However, what stays in the memory about this B&B is the warm welcome from our hosts, John and Ines. They were attentive, eager to please and keen to help you with their knowledge of the local area. John cooked us a delicious dinner - thoroughly recommend this if you are staying (bring your own wine!).

Room Tip: We stayed in the Blue Sky room. This is lit by a skylight, so you do not get a view. The price of th...

A wonderful welcome with homemade cake and tea and the chance to watch Andy Murray on their big screen! A lovely barn with great hosts - the room was perfect with a good shower - even a flask with fresh milk to make tea! John served us an amazing dinner - felt like we were having private dining in the best hotel! Don't bother going to a restaurant!
Breakfast was equally good with home made bread and everything you could wish for.
John and Ines are a lovely couple with lots of information about the local area.
We will be back!!

Willow Farm Barn is a lovely B & B in an 18th Century barn run by a very welcoming couple John and Ines. Rooms are light, bright and modern. Comfortable beds and spotless bathrooms. Locally there is plenty to do and see especially if you like wildlife. Seals can be seen hauled out on the beach a pleasant walk of around 2 miles from Sea Palling village (We saw around 80 - 100). Norfolk Wildlife Trust has a site at Hickling Broad where they offer very nice boat trips to various bird hides and also a number of hides that you can walk to. We saw Swallowtail Butterflies here. It would be easy to visit Norwich from here and there are plenty of historic villages and churches in the vicinity. John is an excellent cook and I would recommend having an evening meal during your stay. Please bear in mind if you do want to eat that this is not a restaurant and the Evening Meal is offered as an extra convenience to guests so your whole party should have the same menu as John is using a normal home kitchen environment to produce meals. The food is of a really good standard and value for money. We had a seafood starter followed by Pork Tenderloin which were both excellent. Breakfast is gorgeous and includes local Bacon and Sausages which you can pick up to take home from the farm shop just up the road. Would stay here again without question.

Great place, great food and genuine people. Certainly one of the best B and B's we have stayed at and we have travelled a fair few miles. Breakfast outstanding with locally sourced food and home made bread and decent coffee. What more could you wish for??

We spent only one night at Willow Farm Barn as we were attending a relative's party in nearby Happisburgh and were in the Sunrise Room which was extremely comfortable and clean. The bed was very comfy, the room spacious, the shower was hot and powerful and John had left fresh milk with the good selection of drinks and biscuits in the room. John and Ines were wonderful hosts and John even drove us to our venue and back which was so much appreciated. The breakfast was certainly an all-day breakfast with a wonderful choice of food and big mugs of tea and coffee! Nothing was too much trouble for John and Ines and they are very helpful in recommending things to do and see. We would certainly return if we were in the area again and could only hope that there would be an vacancy!

Room Tip: All the rooms are fabulous.

We stayed at Willow farm Barn from 24th May for three nights and had three great days cycling around the area. The house is beautiful and John and Ines could not have made us more welcome. Breakfasts offer a wide range of food and lots of it is sourced locally which is a plus. We had one evening meal cooked by John and it was delicious - felt as though we were in a restaurant with soft music and John serving us. We will definitely return as this has become our favourite B and B and we've been to many over the last 10 years. Dorothy and Will.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Willow Farm Barn is a beautiful, modern seaside bed and breakfast located in the Norfolk countryside. It has easy access to a blue flag sandy beach and the Norfolk Broads. The bed and breakfast provides the perfect base for a range of outdoor activities. Built in 1740 (there’s a stone in one of the walls which states this date), the barn was converted into a home in 2009. We have decorated the four rooms in a coastal style and offer a warm, friendly and relaxing stay in our home. Our hearty Norfolk breakfast will set you up for the day – whether you’re seal watching on the beach, cycling down the country lanes, boating on the Broads, watching the birds and wildlife, jet-skiing at Sea Palling, or indulging in a bit of retail therapy in Burnham or Norwich’s wonderful variety of shops. Those looking to relax indoors can do so in the stunning lounge, which is kitted out with a flat screen TV offering the full range of Freeview channels. We look forward to your stay.
