Don't be fooled by photos of the pool or pyramid. Unqualified staff is friendly, but unknowledgeable. They can't even give directions to pyramid access--the main attraction. Rooms mostly have view of unkept lawn that surrounds 3/4 of property and faces a dirt alley, NOT the famous church or pyramid where the Entry faces--they dress it up with nicely painted Gate/Entry and a tiled Lobby. Remodeled showers, but "Standard Room" has not been updated in years! Don't expect to control temperature in your room. Pool was not clean--I saw two swimmers only while there. Locals seem to come for Weekend Brunch at restaurant, but beware of over-billing by waiters. Waiters act with formal flair, table cloths, but lunch and dinner are overcooked, unpleasant, and for survival only.

Stayed an extended weekend (thursday till sunday) at this hotel. Booked two rooms, one standard and one suite.
Booking was a bit problematic, took three phonecalls and two emails to get things wright. Even after that it was problematic to retrieve our reservations when we arrived.....
Hotel is beautifully designed, nice artworks on display and very well maintained poolarea.

Rooms, as mentioned before, not too spacious, but very nicely decorated and clean.

Personel very friendly, not always very fast (don't light your sigarette before you have askes the ashtray.....). Restaurantfood was very nice!
We liked the location, nice and quiet with a view on the church on top of the piramid. Zocalo is a bit further, but by car an easy five minute drive.

Just one negative point: administration... There was a 'second night free' action running, we mentioned this when booking, but still all nights were calculated on the final acounts (as well as the breakfast, wich was complementary..). Everything was fixed, but this took a lot of calculating efforts from the administration ladies (and a lot of patience from us).
Don't let this withhold you, still exellent place to stay for a very reasanoble price!

It's not hard to tell that Arquelogicas de Cholula started life as a Club Med! Small rooms better designed for sharing with a stranger than a spouse or significant other. Everything is directed to and focused on the central courtyard with a large well maintained pool and bar dining area. That's where all the action would have been when this place was doing time as a Club Med destination. It's still where all the action happens. Order some margaritas and a couple of appetizers and it's easy to get a party started here, even with perfect strangers.

Even though the rooms tend to be on the small side, they are actually laid out pretty well and more than adequate and functional. The bathroom is compact but well stocked with everything within an easy reach. A lot of rooms in Mexico do not have heaters but there are built in wall heaters in the rooms here. They work and they do come in handy on chilly mornings.

A quick look out the front door of the hotel reveals the icon chuch situated on top of the equally famous buried pyramid of Cholula. It's an easy 3 block walk over to both the pyramid and church. It's not such so close or such an easy walk to more centrally located destinations.

The restaurant is good, the staff well trained and efficient.

We stayed there 2 nights in february while in Cholula. The rooms are small for the price. The hotel is nice, and the closest to the piramids you'll find, but If I had known what I know now, I would have stayed in one of the hotels sorounding the central plaza, and would have taken the day trip to the piramids.
We found the room small, so we asked if there was something larger, and they assigned us a double suit. We never asked if there would be a price diference, and they never indicated there was, so we thought it to be a courtesy. When checking out, what was my surprise that they were charging us double for the suit. The staff was very nice and helpfull and we worked out the situation; but .... they overcharged my credit card and took a month to re-deposit the amount.
Overall I believed the hotel to be overpriced.
